I prefer the movies he doesn't star in because he always plays himself and it gets old pretty fast. A couple of my favorites: Match Point, Blue Jasmine, Irrational Man, Midnight in Paris, Rifkin's Festival.

I'd say yes. He was really on fire throughout the 70s and 80s and wrote some of the best screenplays of both decades. He does a lot of interesting things filmmaking wise but his movies are always fast paced and very watchable. Seeing a lot of his movies you'll realize he's kinda one note and his insistence on writing himself (and his persona) into his movies really hinders a lot of them. The mans made 50+ movies and like over half of them are barely watchable, 10 or so are amazing, and the rest are decent to good.

to add: the excuse was made and pushed heavily by the media to such an extent that it's mostly accepted as conventional wisdom now that memories of being sexually abused as a child were likely either "planted" or never actually happened.

In the legal system, you're not supposed to ask children leading questions because it's very easy for them to just give the answer you want. Moses describes Mia as someone who was constantly pushing her children to fall in line against Woody. Moses told a lawyer that he felt like he had to choose between his parents, to which Mia responded by telling Moses "you've destroyed my case." Is

then when they are older they look back and think

Explain how exactly does one "plant a memory"?

you tell someone repeatedly that they were abused
then when they are older they look back and think
        i must have been abused

False memory syndrome was originally made up to try and discount accusations of sex abuse by Leo and Ella Stein at their Circle S ranch. It has never been proven, popped up out of nowhere, and has since been unsuccessfully used in the defense of Ted Bundy and OJ Simpson. The leading "expert", Elizabeth Loftus even testified on the behalf of the officers that beat Rodney King despite the whole thing having been caught on video. She is currently on the defense of Ghislaine Maxwell. The entire strategy of false memory syndrome proponents revolves around aggressively gaslighting people until they give in or make some semantic slip up. False memory syndrome has also never been and never will be in the DSM. Not only has it not been proven to be accurate, it has been proven to be inaccurate, repeatedly.

Woody's biggest crime was not heeding the time-old law of "don't put your dock in crazy". It was very clear even back when they started dating that Mia was a crazy b***h. What good could come out of it?

The one poetic justice in all of this shitshow is that Soon-Yi did to Mia what Mia did to Dory Previn (Andre Previn's first wife), who took Mia in after her divorce from Sinatra, and in return Mia stole her husband. No woman likes being ditched for a younger woman, but karma's a b***h.

Just listen to "Beware of Young Girls" from Dory Previn's first album:

Incidentally, in the same album you'll find the song "Daddy In The Attic", from which Mia got the story to feed Dylan:
