I am sorry but yes, he did die, he was killed by Killer Whales
Just a reminder that in one of the first documentaries ever made, The Great White Silence, the film crew shot harpoons at a killer whale that was trying to eat a seal because they felt bad for the seal. No filmmakers today would have that kind of balls.
What have seals ever done for mankind? Killer whales have allied with us in the past, they could do so again if we set things straight.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killer_whales_of_Eden%2C_New_South_Wales
Don't seals brutally hunt Penguins? Frick them, killer whales are buttholes but since I don't give a frick about fish the buck for me stops at protecting these guys.
unless they all went vegan afterwards this is the most hypocritical bullshit ever. >NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THE PREDATOR CANT FEED ITSELF THATS SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >but my hunger is allowed to be sated with the deaths of all the animals i like, t-thats different okay

what do you get?
fat birds that are already forgetting how to find food
and a lot of shit.
Then go one further and try to stop them pecking the shit out of each other as they fight over the free food.
The most terrifying part of that is that Killerwhales are so smart that they know exactly what they are doing, they know full well that they are going to kill another being and that such being experiences pain etc. They are not just instinctual
This is why vegetarianism is misguided. Humans kill animals with a minimum of suffering.
I had an idea for a /misc/-style internet campaign, where a fictitious anti-carnivore movement is created. Basically left-environmental people who want all predators relocated to managed zones where they're fed a vegan diet, people who are consistent and are equally indignant about tigers & orcas killing animals.

being unable to empathize and feel sympathy for an animal is Black person behavior btw. Black folk can't feel sorry for anything lesser than them because they are literally the bottom of the barrel.
yeah you're right we should hunt all the bad bad orcas to extinction, and put all the cute sealarinos and penguies in zoos so they can never be hurt again. get a fricking grip
>NOOOO THA BAD BEAR EATED THE HECKING PENGUIEEE NOOO WHY DIDNT THE CAMERA MAN SHOOOT IT AHHHHHH I FRICKING HATE HUMANITY THE SOONER THE SUN BLOWS UP AND KILLS EVERYONE THE BETTER
yeah and I'm the edgelord.
It shows the dignity of wild animals. They don't panic, or feel sorry for themselves when they die. They gracefully fall, and go to rest. Even in death, they have a remarkable integrity.
Sometimes my girlfriend bites me and I usually end up reacting by punching her in the head. There's some kind of instinctual terror you feel when another creature chomps down on you.
You still live in the world that you hate regardless of whether or not you believe in God. For some reason though you prefer to believe that the suffering that surrounds you is meaningless than believe in a God that gives that suffering meaning.
Your argument is circular and not based in scripture just some vague idea you've developed from general osmosis of thought.
I recommend you read The Problem of Pain by C. S. Lewis, or any of the thousands of learned theologians that have been pondering such thoughts for literal thousands of years. Your idea is not new or unique it's something scholars have been debating forever. They're far better placed to answer your questions than I
Don't need some old farts to tell me what to think. They just apply backwards logic on shit to justify their hilariously contradicting and childish scriptures. Same story as always. Cattle are simply walking guts. They eat tons of grass and hay and spend their entire lives digesting and fermenting all that cellulose into calories to stay alive. This is part of the reason why the most intelligent creatures are predatory carnivores. The caloric density of meat allows organisms that feed on it to have small guts, and have enough calories to encephalize.
I'm talking about long-scale ancestry. Even tho some intelligent animals may have become herbivores in niche environments, they came from carnivorous organisms. The genes that produced complex brains are an inheritance from a predatory ancestor.

it's been longer than 70 million years since ape ancestors were carnivorous

And yet, the benefits of that flesh-eating has been beneficial in an evolutionary context. Any vertebrate owes it's high biological status to a distant ancestor that killed and ate other animals.

My point is that life consumes. Even if you only eat plants, or their fruit or seeds, you are still consuming something that is or was alive. The only thing that matters is caloric density. It has been demonstrated that eating flesh (in organisms that can) leads to higher intelligence and smaller guts.

the evolutionary history of primates is well researched and documented for reasons that should be blindingly obvious

Yes, and?
Lemurs eat insects and small birds - their most recent common ancestor with great apes lived 50-60mya.
Chimpanzees hunt and kill monkeys, and baboons eat a variety of animals. There is no reason to think that they are anomalous in primate history.

and despite that all of them are still less than 5% carnivorous in diet

and I'm telling you that the thing which allowed apes and parrots to evolve higher intelligence is not flesh but fruits
not to mention elephants are some of the least-discerning herbivores out there consuming even rough plant matter such as branches

Anonymous
>and despite that all of them are still less than 5% carnivorous in diet
You weren't arguing for 5% carnivorous ancestors, but I'll let the goalpost moving go. They're not herbivores and never have been. Animal protein (including insects) is a vital part of the primate diet and always has been.
Anonymous
anon, 5% meat in a diet does not make you carnivorous
that's pretty basic logic you should be able to understand
5 months ago
Anonymous
These animals (apes, parrots, elephants) that maintain relatively large brains by eating plant material, are in a comfortable evolutionary dead-end. They can't develop further because their diet is tied to a single habitat that provides it. If you can eat other animals, you can spread around the globe, and you will also enjoy the added benefits of caloric density; the most concentrated food source that exists (flesh) is free for the taking.

Up until pretty recently elephants were spread across literally the entire world

But they didn't gain greater intelligence in that process.

still smarter than pretty much any predator
the only highly intelligent obligatory predators are dolphins, other than them the highly intelligent animals are omnivorous or herbivorous (elephants) with among the omnivorous ones plant matter making up the majority of their diet (yes that includes humans)
Anonymous
Absolutely. But eating meat is still more biologically economical than foraging for edible plant materials. Being omnivorous gives a species carte blanche to eat what it needs, when it needs. But meat provides complete amino acid complex, and requires no understanding of balancing a diet for health and survival. For early humans, meat was vital.

not to mention elephants are some of the least-discerning herbivores out there consuming even rough plant matter such as branches
>and despite that all of them are still less than 5% carnivorous in diet
You weren't arguing for 5% carnivorous ancestors, but I'll let the goalpost moving go. They're not herbivores and never have been. Animal protein (including insects) is a vital part of the primate diet and always has been.
anon, 5% meat in a diet does not make you carnivorous
that's pretty basic logic you should be able to understand
Absolutely. But eating meat is still more biologically economical than foraging for edible plant materials. Being omnivorous gives a species carte blanche to eat what it needs, when it needs. But meat provides complete amino acid complex, and requires no understanding of balancing a diet for health and survival. For early humans, meat was vital.
Why the frick do morons like you pretend to be experts about everything
Concession: accepted
I'm no expert. But I do have some education about how life functions from a biological standpoint. There is no room for human idealism in nature. Life is nasty, brutish, and short for most of us. Including animals.
seals are dogs
I prefer the anime adaptation
Poor lil guy.
>The gods of Olympus have abandoned me
two minutes earlier...
Leopard seals are different than those seals in OP.
I'm 90% sure that Leopard seals are some kind of demons on Earth
>Awww, he's smiling 🙂
All seals are carnivores.
>l'egg
>Steve was a made man and the stingray wasn't. And we had to sit still and take it.
>It was among the Orcas. It was real dolphin shit. They even flipped him so the sharks couldn't have an open casket
>Steve would have never wanted this, he died with honor.
Still better than what eurocucks do to poor seals.
We don't eat them anymore it's verboten.
Leopard seals don't look real. They are massive.
wtf it looks like one of those ancient sea dinosaurs
I wasted my whole sunday watching seal videos
I hate the demiurge so much for this shithole we live in
You care.
He doesn't.
>fug
anyone got the webm of the walrus doing a backflip off a cliff?
Don't ask for high-dive walrus. Demand it!
>AMATERASU
OH N-
What the frick was their problem?
De be hungy.
Non walrus bros how can we compete?
Protip: we can’t
Why did nature make them so cute yet put them in such cruel positions? They have to worry about sharks, orcas, and the elements.
Animal threads are unironically the best threads on Cinemaphile
Also on v
Wrong board
But the threads aren't good there and it's really slow.
TOTAL SEALIGGER DEATH
?si=4FZF0Zm0ejIfQJ2k
So why don't Killer Whales attack humans again?
What is the crime?! Eating a seal? A succulent Chinese seal?!
