With sheer decline in writing over the last 10 years in Film, the Prequels might as well be Casablanca

They will gobble up the latest crap, especially the marvel stuff and preach it as “schlock” but still recommend it, but have an entire meltdown because star wars had politics and the characters weren’t snarky quipping ironic nihilist

      the politics were moronic

        Anonymous

It was no more moronic than the Ewoks or Imperial Officers arguing with Vader about the validity of his superpowers. People like to go on about exposition in the prequels when they rarely go into it, making the same 30 second comments they did in the original movies. It is splitting hairs.

The sequels were so mismanaged they couldn’t even do that, no cohesion of events. You just move from set piece to set piece while everyone’s direction when acting is “your Finn but on the desert planet, now you’re Finn but on the space ship, now you’re Finn on casino planet (I guess be mad?”

The prequels were complete ass. If anything they showed Hollywood that they didn't need to pay writers because people will go watch shit like that so long as it has a franchise name attached to it.

No. My taste is impeccable and I watched TPM in theaters at least 15 times, bought a bootleg theater recording, bought the official VHS widescreen set, the Laserdisc (which has the real theatrical version), on DVD, and finally on Blu-ray. I saw TRoS once.
        Once, bro.

  3. 1 year ago

Only partially correct. The prequels badly needed a real editor, not Ben Burtt who can't edit for shit.
And rlm WILL be forgotten in the coming decade, but George Lucas and his creations will outlast us all.
    Suck it.

      Anonymous

      >George Lucas and his creations will outlast us all.
Just the OT. Only the reddit memes and lightsaber scenes of the prequels will be remembered.

        Anonymous

        >Only the reddit memes and lightsaber scenes of the prequels will be remembered.
nah. TPM with its problems concerning a bit to much Jar Jar and Lucas's inability to tell Jake Lloyd to do another take here and there, is certifiable kino anyway, the theatrical version, no the puke-ass special version for the DVD and Blu-ray.
AotC won't fare as well, yet it's still great fun, and RotS-with proper editing-could be a masterpiece, but admittedly ends four times and is a mess, even if it's fun and worth some laughs too. So all in all, yes, the prequels will be remembered for being many things and won't be forgotten.
Now the Disney Nu Wars? heh, no one is going to be analyzing them like the classic OT, and in 50 years, no one will remember them guaranteed because you and I will be dead and the zoomers;et al will be onto the next things.

He's the one who said that JJ Abrams should do Star Wars instead of Star Trek. Mike himself admitted that he should be sued for that suggestion. That makes him wrong about the prequels by default.

Best example in cinema of “you think you want it, but you don’t”

Everyone wanted the sequel trilogy, turned out to be ass. Shows are hit or miss, games are lacking. Episodes 1-6 were a fine package and expanding the universe via games and books should have continued to be the standard.

Can’t even have anything new now because people can’t comprehend something not being canon or being made for fun

        Anonymous

The great irony is that Mike said he didn't give a frick about the extended universe via the games and the books. Pulling ideas from those to put in the movies is exactly why Lucas let other people contribute to the canon. I can't speak for the extended universe books since I never read any of them, but Star Wars always made for fantastic video game settings. The Force Unleashed and the KOTOR games were way better than any of the movies in my estimation.

Some books were trash, others are genuinely good reads. Not gonna say everything was fricking gold but it was better than “somehow, palpatine has returned” ironic even because they had a better story of the emperor returning anyway.

The fact that we won’t ever get another Jedi Outcast/Academy, Rogue Squadron, pod racer, or even that revenge of the sith fighting game is depressing.

A new RPG would be wonderful as well. Make a fricking AAA hogwarts legacy-esque game.

Fun fact, as soon as disney aquired lucasfilms and it's subsidiaries. They shut down the lucasarts game division and gave the rights of publishing star wars games to EA. Resulting in hundreds of people losing their jobs.

Lucasarts was dead long before Disney. Battlefront 3, Kotor 3, Star Wars 1313 - all cancelled or in development hell, before Disney purchase. Lucasarts was horribly mismanaged and not taken care of.

        >Everyone wanted the sequel trilogy,
they wanted George's sequel trilogy that we were robbed of because JJ is a prequel hater just like Mike "fat frick". It would have been kino if we got the real plot, and the real star wars. Instead of some OT boomer trying to "take star wars back to it's roots", by just recreating scenes from the OT.

JJ and Mike think they understand star wars better than the man who wrote it and we get stuck with disneyshit.

        >Everyone wanted the sequel trilogy
I didn't. Even before we knew about Lucasfilm changing hands I thought it was a terrible idea. Lucas's ideas weren't good either. Star Wars ended in 1983 and should have stayed that way.

Like true nu-boomers they can’t do that because it would mean they have to admit they were wrong about the sequels. Their ego can’t handle it (especially Jay) and they will die stating the Rise of Skywalker was good

In fairness, Mike seems to be more amenable in revising his opinions on things. He has something of a sense of humor regarding his "JJ Abrams should be in charge of Star Trek" take.

I only care about the original 6 movies made by the visionary auteur with a dream and some supplementary eu materials approved by Georgie. Disney shit isn't star wars to me. George is one of my icons, he's a true visionary who made a great universe with his creativity and dedication. Disney zombie shit is just banking on the brand to release paint by numbers cgi flicks for share holders. the 6 movies, the clone wars shows and some lucasarts games are where star wars ends for me.

It's the most deserving, but it's also kind of boring and obvious. TROS is shitty in a way that isn't even fun to talk about. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (on top of not being as bad as the Star Wars prequels) is similar in that way and the Plinkett video suffers a bit from it.
