From the books we know she was only present in a single battle, and don't know what role she took in there. Is ok to imagine she could be far above humans and orcs because she's an elf and of high breed...but they're leaning way too much into the warrior archetype without having anything to back it up from the Silmarillion or Lotr

I dont think I would call recasting a reimagining, most of the actors from the movies would be way too old to reprise their roles and the people who played Isildur/Elendil in the movies might not have been good enough actors to play some of the leads
