Just finished the first episode where it goes from a bar to a funeral to a train to a bar and they just spend a lot of time talking about emotions, they kind of skip over them seeing the numbers and then it's just about looking at the sky, not trying to observe the cosmic microwave background. Feels like they cut out all the science from this so we could have more regular drama, the v-suit is just like a chrome headset. The Trisolarans are also less than 5 LY away from the Solar system, but because they don't have FTL either, it will take them 400 years to get to Earth. Chink or not it's a pretty well-constructed work. It even touches on higher-dimension beings who deal with reality as though painting on a canvas . I think reality is more boring and that we are an early species.
In the middle of the second episode, I'm tired of people talking about their emotions and feelings and partying already, I know that's just the only way they write shows but get to the fricking detective work.

But they had to pad it out to 40 episodes for some reason, so theres a lot of time wasting mid season and a few new characters which i quite liked tbh. The mid season drag is unreal though. You can basically skip every single scene set in the commie outpost and miss nothing
