5 years ago in May of 2018, Thundercats Roar was announced and it caused a massive shit storm which made normies become aware of the dreaded "calarts" style. Was the hatred deserved?

Tip Your Landlord Shirt $21.68 |
Absolutely
The adults complaining about it accomplished nothing it getting it killed
Kids simply rejected it
The industry literally launched a campaign to inform that anybody who criticized the show would be blacklisted, pretty sure they recognized the threat
If adults mattered to CN shows living or not, Teen Titans Go would've died in a single season
TTG is the beneficiary of ratings manipulation from when the then new head of CN wanted to kill off action shows, and is largely acting as a literal free money generator from advertisers due to said rating manipulation letting them prostitute out ad spots, best seen by the fact that its ratings supposedly hold despite cable being on a hard decline. Kids barely actually watch it aside from occasionally as background noise for their phone games.
>Kids barely actually watch it aside from occasionally as background noise for their phone games.
Source?
honestly I'm just assuming that kids actually do put it on occasionally because statistically the numbers they massaged via the interaction between timeslots and show ratings have to come from somewhere but despite working across multiple school districts I never see a hint of TTG anything from any kids in any of the schools I've visited. Plenty of Spongebob, Rick and Morty, and other shit from a lot of age groups and ethnicities, even a decent amount of cape shit [mostly Spider-Man and some MCU merch admittedly] but you'd think after a few drug searches some homosexual would have a TTG funko pop or some shit in their lunchbox or locker or desk or whatever.
You didn't address what I actually said, you just repeated yourself
Shut the frick up you fat moron
Lmao boil quit writing out how you feel as a reply, you should feel this way
You'll really lap up every piece of garbage to defend the industry, it's an automatic process for you. Wonder if you actually watch this stuff
Because it's common sense
The target demographic is what keeps shows alive
If adults were an actual threat to kids cartoons outside of a genuine normalgay controversy, TTG would be dead by now
Then that's when you write some sort of counter to my comment, instead of repeating yourself. Like you did again
I understand, to address the insanely toxic practices of the industry in any way makes them look bad
>I understand, to address the insanely toxic practices of the industry in any way makes them look bad
Has nothing to do with how adults even impacted the show or not
You saying the industry "recognized the threat" by the backlash is not related to the show actually bombing its target demographic
Technically speaking you didn't address how adults would actually mattered in Thundercats Roar's downfall
If the industry couldn't have been affected by critics then they wouldn't have freaked out at everybody who criticized the show. It's very simple
If you think they had nothing to fear, you should take it up with the industry
It's based on comics, not Tumblr art
>If the industry couldn't have been affected by critics then they wouldn't have freaked out at everybody who criticized the show. It's very simple
Still has nothing to do with the show failing because the audience that actually mattered (children) didn't like it
>not Tumblr art
Mate, TTG is considered CalArts crap as well
K your mindless Industry shill mentality is getting real obvious, it's not designed for adults, it's designed for teenagers on discord servers so they're stupid enough to support Craig of the creek
>Mate, TTG is considered CalArts crap as well
By fricking who? I'm talking about an objective fact that it is based on comics for the original show and meanwhile you're spewing your brain poison from the industry community
I'm not shilling the show
I didn't like it, it's that I just that I have enough self awareness to know the backlash didn't do shit and the real reason for its demise is kids not liking it
>it's designed for teenagers on discord servers so they're stupid enough to support Craig of the creek
It airs on a channel for kids, the target audience is for kids
Adults don't matter, kids matter
Regardless of any intention for an older audience by staff, kids are who the Network wants to appeal to
>I'm talking about an objective fact that it is based on comics for the original show and meanwhile you're spewing your brain poison from the industry community
The comic designs are already drastically different from the 2003 show designs as is
The TTG designs make them go even further away from how the Titans looked in the comics
You'd have to be fricking blind to think either show resembles the source material
>it is based on comics for the original show
If you're talking about the comics for the 2003 comics that just so happen to be called TTG, you're still an idiot
Ah it's just a coincidence that there was a comedic comic series
Nobody likes these cartoons, they just defend them for their career
>Adults don't matter, kids matter
Apparently kids don't have parents. Extremely obvious glaring logical holes like that show you don't actually intend to have a real discussion
>kids are who the Network wants to appeal to
I never said the target audience of the show wasn't kids. Again it's a clear sign that you're used to talking to teenagers if you expect that you can just change the claims the other person made
The industry was so devastated by the ThunderCats roar debacle they've never pumped up any of their projects like that again. You just completely ignore things like that like I didn't point them out
>there was a comedic comic series
>comedic
Wow, you really are moronic
The comic used the cartoon's designs, took place within the show's canon, had its own drama (Terra's brother and Ravager as notable examples), etc
It felt more at home with the 2003 series and not TTG (the parody series)
>Apparently kids don't have parents
Kids watch crap their parents find stupid all the time
Even we're all guilty of this
Parents looked down on Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers and Pokemon and so on, didn't stop us from consuming it
>if you expect that you can just change the claims the other person made
Your claim that adults had an impact is still null and void
Even if you want to insist the backlash from adults toward Roar devastated the industry, it played no part on its cancellation because it simply failed its target demographic
Occam's Razor you fricking trogolodyte
You're getting hilariously frustrated
>Kids watch crap their parents find stupid all the time
Parents choose what their kids watch. Good ones that is. Again you present strong evidence that you spend time talking to unsupervised minors and don't want to bring parents into the picture.
>didn't stop us from consuming it
Seriously? Just busting out lines for neglected teenagers.
>Your claim that adults had an impact is still null and void
Adults made the show.
>because it simply failed its target demographic
It did so because of the reasons the critics pointed out, and they refused to listen to the critics.
This garbage you spew is literally designed to make teenagers on Discord brain damage enough for your industry. At every turn you say the most idiotic things imaginable, with huge huge holes to every statement. +100 messages to the industry for being a groomer who can't take the hint
>Parents choose what their kids watch.
Parents don't pay attention
How the frick do you think Elsagate became a thing?
>Seriously?
Do you have any clue how confused adults were when Turtlemania, Rangermania, Pokemania, etc was a thing?
>Adults made the show
Reading comprehension
>It did so because of the reasons the critics pointed out, and they refused to listen to the critics.
The critics said the same thing about Teen Titans Go and the Ben 10 reboot and they lasted a lot longer than Thundercats Roar
+1000 messages to the industry, shut your groomer hole.
>Parents don't pay attention
You do realize that you're not isolated on a Discord server? People can call out all your groomer lines
>Do you have any clue how confused adults were when Turtlemania, Rangermania, Pokemania,
Now the claim you're discussing is that parents perfectly understood Power Rangers in the 90s. You're just bouncing from nonsense claim to nonsense claim which is a tactic that only works on teenagers. It's not even a cartoon
>Reading comprehension
Says the groomer who isn't responding to anything that anybody actually said or EVER says and avoids making any sort of clear coherent claim because you're doing a grooming routine, not discussing anything
I brought up Power Rangers as an example with TMNT and Pokemon because its an example of something that's absolutely stupid to adults yet was still profitable because kids ate it up and the parents allowed them to eat it up
They didn't perfectly understood any of those shows, they just know their kids liked it and that's what those little shits would keep bugging them for
>Parents choose what their kids watch. Good ones that is.
These are the same people that resort to television and YouTube as babysitters
All they care is that their kids shut the frick up and are occupied doing something
>Parents choose what their kids watch
On what fricking planet? There is a whole ass industry of pajeets making fetish videos enmasse for youtube kids that has thrived specifically because parents don't give a shit what their kids watch
>Can't comprehend the basic ideas of what that anon was saying
>Resorts to just calling him a groomer without rebutting anything out of frustration
Pottery
Check your eyes
Teen Titans Go (the comic based on the 2003 show) looks nothing like the Teen Titans Go (the comedy cartoon that made Enter seethe)
TTG killed CNs popularity you moron
that was fricking ridiculous. All the writer and storyboarder dipshits who took to twitter to defend this piece of shit and ended up exposing the sheer amount of nepotism that exists within the animation industry.
"This cartoon is good because it is, okay!? We see a lot of criticism from aspiring artist and animators! We'll remember you!"
Anyone got screencaps?
Need to start making a collection.
I do recall when they made that jab at one of the dead actors of the OG series.
This is the only one I saved
this post is still up on this animator's tumblr
https://henryscrapeteria.tumblr.com/post/174117883224/put-the-torches-and-pitchforks-away-take-it-from
And those types of people are now crying and complaining that networks canceled their projects
yeah you don't really see anyone in the cartoon industry complaining/critiquing about other shows, shit's a huge no-no
very forced "we're all in this together" type shit
I'll do you one better.
The adults complaining raised awareness
The kids saw what adults initially had
Both sides agreed 80's was better
The kids rejected modern take
Kickass superheroes doing kickass things will never be toppled by shitty beanmouth Tumblr fan-fiction quality garbage.
By that logic, Teen Titans Go would've died
Enter's b***hing would have accomplished something
The Ben 10 reboot wouldn't have lasted multiple seasons
Kids don't fricking care about Thundercats old or new
>Kickass superheroes doing kickass things will never be toppled by shitty beanmouth Tumblr fan-fiction quality garbage.
Teen Titans Go has lasted a lot longer than the 2003 series
>Was the hatred deserved?
Yes.
Next question.
>Give me smell beyond smell
Imagine messing up the third eye
>2018
oh, shut up. 2018 was literally yesterday
It was five years ago, not yesterday idiot. Yesterday was the 26th of May, 2022. Yesterday was ONE day ago, not FIVE years. American education...
>Yesterday was the 26th of May, 2022
Two kinos in a row and then this, yeah of course people were pissed
>Was the hatred deserved?
Every single ounce of it.
thanks for reminds me how fast time is going
It was garbage
I wanted to see that series reach its conclusion.
Yes. Yet the artstyle, while horrible, was only the peak of the shit iceberg.
The very way it was done, from the story to the characters and so on...no wonder it died with a whimper and it should stay dead.
No. The start was great. The problem was what happened afterwards.
No, it's a fricking cartoon for children.
Dislike it all you want, but the outrage was fricking pathetic.
Shut up marxist
>pointing out something is outside of your target audience means you must be a marxist
>Relies on old people's nostalgia
>The target audience is children
Pick one.
Why are you here?
Yeah, and the actual target audience for this show ei children didn't give a shit about it and it dies after 1 season. So even by that excuse the show sucks by that criteria too.
No matter which side you look at, no one liked it.
the original was for children also.
It was ugly and obnoxious. Yes.
>Calarts
People who use this word to describe any sort of style are more moronic than any normies could ever hope to be.
I guess the word "bauhaus" is too complicated for casual's mind.
And yet calarts still persist
Stop replying to gay you morons, holy fricking shit.
Instead of continuing with the 2011 series, rhey decided to spend time, money and resources making this instead
*they
i have no attachment to any thindercats media
same except I want to see Cheetara mindbroken with wiener into being a degenerate cum dumpster
My six year old at the time loved Thundercats Roar but I couldn't get him to watch even a single entire episode of either of the other Thundercats shows.
I did manage to get him to put a Sword of Omens Keychain on his backpack that year though. Now Bob MacKenzie is holding it in a threatening gesture over Doug that gives that playset a while new subtext.
>itt people woth poop mouths and poop opinions
