He was sexy af.
Disgusting homosexual
Imagine if he was lady.
It's not too dark. Just real. Even if he's a vague unspecified virus with some allusions to real life things like scarlet fever. Now the graphic way he kills white blood cells is disturbing.
Reality is darker than fiction
His name is Thrax... he's Anthrax you fricking dipshit.
Except he's not. Nothing about his symptoms match Anthrax or that way he was put into Frank's body.
Pain areas: in the chest or muscles
Skin: blister, dark scab, small bump, or ulcers
Whole body: fever or malaise
Respiratory: respiratory distress or shortness of breath
Also common: coughing, headache, itching, nausea, sore throat, or swollen lymph nodes

That could be many things
How would Anthrax get into a chimpanzee zoo exhibit
Anthrax also doesn’t take that long to work
Nonono you're thinking of the metal band
He is a virus called the red death in the movie whereas Anthrax is bacteria.
He might possibly be named after anthrax but he is not it.
>His name is Thrax.
It wasn't even his original name. Nor is anthrax referred to as the "red death" in South American or Spanish countries. His method of killing also has nothing to do with the symptoms of anthrax poisoning or scarlet fever. He doesn't even so much as cause a rash.
Art book that came out confirmed he wasn't based of anthrax. Thrax was orignally supposed to be based off SARS but the studio told them that basing him off a real virus was to much. They then based Thrax off the red death from Masquerade of the red death. His name came because one of the artists was shopping and found medicine with the "Thrax" suffix and thought it sounded cool. Then Anthrax attacks happened and it was too late to change it. To almost much of their relief since the movie bombed no one seemed to notice or care about the name.
His original name was also We-Khan and looked like a completely different character.
Wait, so it was Coronavirus all along?
>Art book that came out
There isn't one, you fricking liar.
>Now the graphic way he kills white blood cells is disturbing.
That shit was one of the few times I actually wondered how the frick they got that shit past the censors. It was BRUTAL. Nevermind how Thrax himself died, that was some brutal shit too.
You can be suprised with what you can get away with in Animation as long as blood isn't red and the characters are not Human.
Was he Caribbean?
No, but now I really want to hear Thrax with a Caribbean accent.
Osmosis Jones would be pure fricking kino if you removed the grossout stuff. As it stands it's still fricking great tho
God this is such a hilariously autistic post. Your body is gross. You are a sweaty pus-filled meatsack. A non-grossout Osmosis Jones would be sterile as frick.
I think he meant the Bill Murray bits, which are indeed the worst parts of the film.
I know. That changes nothing. You get spots and your nose runs. Why should a movie about the human body shy away from that? You feeling nauseous means it's well-made, you were supposed to be grossed out, that's why it's called gross out.
There's a difference in how it's portrayed though. For example, someone bleeding is gross, but I wouldn't call a bloody action movie "gross"
There is a version with all the live action cut off. Or there was, cant find it on youtube anymore.
>Little Feet
Honestly I'd argue the villain was too good for this movie, but the main/supporting cast were good too. Conflicting
I think the film could've been great without the live action, which looked low budget compared to the animated parts.
This honestly. But mostly the gross outlive action.
I remember back in 2019 a Cinemaphile anon posted covid-19 imagined as an osmosis jones villain
She looks like Cree Summers would voice her
oh yeah i can see that
>Baby, you may think you've won but one thing you'd better learn 'bout Covid is that I'm in this for the long haul.
>A true-to-life example of Villain Decay. Every time Corona reappears she's weaker, less competent and far less potent.
Its not like covid's goal is to kill its host, thats just an unpleasant side effect. In reality making itself less lethal works for it because it allows its host to transmit the disease to more people and basically thrive(kinda like the flu in that matter). So in this case corona chan isnt getting weaker, she's just starting to go legit because thats more beneficial for her
That’s the one thing that incidentally is realistic about why Thrax loses. His goal was to kill his hosts in as short a period as possible, with Frank being his quickest in just 2 days. He wanted to be recognized by the medical community as a lethal disease, but viruses that kill too quickly actually have a lower chance of becoming plagues because they will perish inside the host before they can spread. Thrax’s quick efficiency is what got him caught by the immune system (Jones) and ultimately got him purged from the body.
>Increased Immunity from previous infection is actually the Viruses becoming informants/Stool Pigeons and going into Antibody Protection Service
Pretty damn clever
there's something like that in the film itself
Yeah the pimp running the wiener fight. He was under the virus protection program.
You mean the chicken pox fight.
Cute
would be kino
now we need an artfriend to make a drawing of corona having a totally legit business
That actually makes her more successful, since a virus exists to spread, not kill. Thrax was a moron for wanting to kill his host, Corona just wants to be the next flu and live forever
> since a virus exists to spread, not kill
Thrax was gonna do both. He can cross from animal to human and then easily infect Frank's daughter without a sneeze, he's that contagious. He already killed several victims and each time he "mutated" to kill them faster and faster.
Thats actually a bad thing. Killing them that fast makes the disease less lethal in the long term
Focus on the part where Thrax is contagious, anon. He has a long time survivability like Coronavirus, can get carried into the wind, or wind up inside household pets to infect another human.
You can't "contain" the Red Death because he's a virus with no cure ready to infect on the walls, doornobs, pets, or food anywhere anytime. A real virus would struggle to be lethal, but Thrax has so many vectors to contaminate into, he's a nightmare scenario.
Even if Frank died within 12 hours, Thrax has many methods to escape and live long enough to affect another. Even the hospital crew wasn't safe, it could've been anyone or anything Frank touched. The worst part, Thrax is nearly undetectable to everyone until Frank is hospitalized and could easily kill white blood cells without triggering an immune response, multiple times. Ozzy beating him was mere luck when Frank should've been dead at his temps.
So in the "long term", you're looking at "Spanish Flu" cases of lethal before, eventually being defeated by superior human bodies who're aware of him.
At the climax, Thrax is airborne. Everyone around Frank would be dead in 12 hours.
Has anyone done an Osmosis Jones Ebola?
Yes, it's not that anime thing.
Thats horrifying.
Hey that's pretty cool
good LORD
Man, we didn't know just how good we had it
how do they deal with her?
If they're in Frank, it's an all out war. She's basically a terrorist who blows up the regulators causing major flooding in the lungs. It's like a disaster flick where they figh her through a devastate Frank.
If they're in Hector, she's a joke and they spend most the episode not sure if they're looking for her or a cold virus.
Coronavirus itself isn't too dangerous, the dangerous part is that coronavirus causes your own defence system to go berserk and start killing anything in close vicinity, instead of just the coronavirus. So the episode would basically be the virus turning the cast against each other, Jones probably losing his badge after he destroys some building (cells) when Corona tricks him to believe she's hiding inside.
Either that or Coronavirus at first appears to be a very easy opponent and they catch her really quick. But the moment they drag her for questioning, she causes everyone in the station go berserk and hallucinate each other as Coronavirus.
>So the episode would basically be the virus turning the cast against each other, Jones probably losing his badge after he destroys some building (cells) when Corona tricks him to believe she's hiding inside.
>"Alright, Corona! Come out and show yourself!"
>"Jones, I don't think she's going to come out just because you tell her to-"
>"Shut it, Drix! You're not helping!"
>"He's right, my little lymphocyte. It's going to take more than words to get me to come out and play~."
Smoking and ivermectin.
She looks too anime
Well, how would you westernize her?
Replace by a certain mouse.
Give her lips, change her face and eye shape a little
here’s a quick attempt
Cute eyelashes
Increased cushions
hot
Well *unzips* looks like I'll be getting another STD tonight.
Need a version with teeth bared
If the threads still up tomorrow I'll give that a go
late night bump in hopes of art
If the thread dies before I'm off from work I'll just post it to the drawthread
Prefer this one more
Cute but too on the nose with the Chinese aesthetic. Besides if the character is supposed to be something that appears worse than it is, she shouldn’t be a cute little minx, she should be a try hard bad girl. This design would only work if she appeared unassuming but was actually deadly.
looks like an anthro frogge more than anything
this is great. more fictional diseases should be turned into osmosis jones villains
Corona-chan is still super cute in a different universe, I see.
Back in 2020 I took inspiration from Grant Morrison's shamanistic bargain with the staph infection he got during the Invisibles. I entered a trance state to communicate with Corona-chan and, having determined that the meta-narrative of her symptoms meant her goal was stealing breath, I willingly offered mine to her. Now I practice daily breathing exercises dedicated to the spirit of Corona. I spent several weeks in quarantine as the sole caretaker of family members with COVID and still haven't caught it despite being unvaxed and unmasked. No political reason, I just have an uncontrollable phobia of needles and they understandable won't bring in four people to hold down a grown man for a shot. Anyway, moral of the story is chaos magic frickimg works.
Go back to 2016, qtard.
>chaos magic frickimg works
Scary shit. I tried it once and never again.
>chaos magic frickimg works.
It does but I'm pretty sure you just created a Corona-themed thoughtform instead of actually communicating with a preexisting spirit. Functionally it's pretty much the same so it doesn't really matter in your situation, though.
I've always thought of her as having been an egregore in the process of forming. This was right as the drawings of Corona-chan were starting to be spread with a consistent design. In retrospect I wonder if getting in that early is part of the reason it worked so well.
I remember someone saying that a possible sequel would have covid with as the villain but hee schtick is that she would be undercover and you really couldn’t tell until osmosis uncovers her secret and she tried to weasel out by being like
>look honey, I’m not that deadly. I just wanna spread so people all around know covid.
I wish you coomers would throw a clot and fricking die already
> clot
Funny pun anon!
Cry until your death, prudoid cancer. Your tears are delicious.
Someone do HIV as a twink
>HIV or AIDS virus
>very flamboyant, if not made explicitly gay
Would they do it? What would happen if they did?
Reminds me of when Some friends in a old server I was in did osmosis jones OCs and everyone was doing blood cells but I made The Cold
Not bad
Ty, might have to try and redraw him though, all this art is like 4 years old lel
Someday when I make myself learn to animate I'm gonna make a parody of Get Jinxed starring this character. It haunts my dreams
back during the original thread I think her gimmick was that she was wildly unpredictable and seemed to have a completely random modus operandi and competence level, since back in 2019 it seemed like covid was capable of doing all kinds of bizarre shit at random.
If it was a TV show episode she'd be the main villain of a season and then become a recurring minor character played for jokes
That and she'd hit some suffocate some people horrifically while others would be barely touched means half the time she could be just doing absurdly stupid pranks and acting like its super villain level, and then the next week she'd be trying to torch the brain at 105 degrees and wondering why everyone is getting upset at her turning the body's thermostat up so she wasn't so chilly.
Now that Pfizer was caught actively trying to make new strains to sell vaccines and the executive board hasn't been put to death like they would in a just world, is Corona the only character that could get third party upgrades?
>"Laurence Fishburne should do more voice work"
>Exhibit A
I miss watching cartoons in class. Sometimes you'd have to answer questions on a sheet as the movie went along but sometimes you didn't and that was pretty cool.
>came out right before all of the anthrax fearmongering after 9/11
>Young ladies, young ladies
>I like them underage see
>Some say that's statutory
>But I say it's mandatory!
I liked it when they simply didn't care about being open with it, I hate what kind of conditions are required to cause those changes, though
they turned down the incredibles to make this
>Ozmosis Jones cartoon is kino
>Incredibles 2 is absolute shit
Good call I'd say
>Incredibles 2
Dishonest post, and Osmosis Jones is ok at best, ruined by shitty live action segments
I take one ok movie and a great cartoon than one great movie and a sequel that took almost a decade and was the equivalent of visual white noise
What bothers me about the cartoon is they could have put Ozzy in Frank's teenage daughter
Why did they make him so frickin hot?
Same reason everyone's gay for Death's fursona from Puss and Hexxus from Ferngully. Sex sells.
That was a lame design though.
>Hexxus
Based
>Yiff-death
That's just dogfrickers having low standards. They'll simp for anything canid, just look at how much LE LOONA xD and The Bad Guys and the dogs from Sing got and still get spammed. To say nothing of that guy hung up on didney's Maid Marian, Bluey threads, Dalmationgays... dogfrickers are a blight.
>LE LOONA
I’m going to be honest, a lot of gray wolves in media getting popular. As you’ve said: furgays latch onto anything. But I can name quiet a few wolves.
>Legosi
>Death
>Loona
>Mr. Wolf
>Porscha Crystal
>Jimmy Crystal
>Roxanne Wolf
I know these aren’t all Cinemaphile but I guess people like their canines. That’s why foxes are the most common fursona.
I like furshit a lot but there's no denying that furries as a whole have low standards/are really, really easy to impress. It's impressive how effective furbait is as advertising.
I think a big part of it how much the furry art game has developed; Twitter furry artists have to jump onto anything resembling the next big furry form to get eyes onto thier accounts to most effectively fish for commissions.
Because villains used to be allowed to be cool and sexy. The villain is just as important as the hero in a story. They weren't just twist villains, misunderstood or "my grandma is mean to me"
they liked morpheus from the matrix, no joke the design was changed to look like fishburne's character in that movie
Also why they were able to get away with a shitty matrix parody shot after everyone else had already done it to death.
This movie could've been much funnier. Tons of flat jokes.
wtf it’s cute?!?
Best thing about this movie is the animation. Same crew as The Iron Giant, only this time helmed by Piet Kroon and Tom Sito instead of Brad Bird. This was their next movie after Iron Giant. It performed even worse at box office.
How did a movie that flopped so bad get a tv series?
TV series was greenlighted over a year before the movie premiered.
Some of the most brutal deaths in a kid's movie.
well they're cartoon creatures with no innards so it doesn't really matter
Cells have innards, my biology challenged friend.
Oh man, that shit fricked me up as a kid
Thrax's death too, for that matter. And the germ mob boss
What would the Black Plague look like in Osmosis Jones?
>An Ancient Evil Has Awoken
A wizard in a plague mask
Expect the mask is really his face and glowing red/yellow eyes are a must
Also vaguely inspired by marmots since marmots are one of the few remaining carriers of the black plague
A marmot crossed with a bird? Sounds hard to pull off
I realize Jones rarely used his gun. He used it early in the movie, but not so much later on. Shooting was now all Drix’s job.
Which is odd since this movie had no problem with violence
In fact his gun and jacket conveniently disappear for the climax
Probably to make it more dramatic and exciting for Jones to use his shape-shifting abilities and taking advantage of Drax's ego to defeat him instead of just popping a cap in his ass.
The movie never shows what the gun actually does to a virus/germs though
Because it kept missing.
>soundtrack uses a song where Kid Rock raps about fricking underaged girls in the lyrics
Times have changed, this movie literally could not come out as it was today if only for that detail, it would incite riots on Twitter
That's because Twitter needs its own 9/11 or Rodney King style event first
The recent beating isn't a contender since it's black-on-black and is thus being swept under the rug
it's also shaping up to be personal, supposedly the kid they beat to death was fricking the ex of one of the cops
it's a case of a fellow using his power to settle a score, but because we live in mirror world, the salient concern is the color of their skin.
cant whip the dark-complected into a frenzy when it's one of their own doing the killing. they're a pretty image-conscious culture, so there's an instinctive understanding that it's gonna be a tough sell to convince whitey that black cops killing a black guy for banging one cop's baby mama is whitey's fault
That's why I'm saying, they need some other kind of event to be manufactured, something that acts like a "torch passing" from this narrative to a newer, more open, more genuinely deprived one
Time to stop waiting for the manatees and their balls to make the right call
>is on multiple national news stations around the world
>mass protests
>swept under the rug
lol wut?
If you listened to what those new stations and protestors have been saying, they've been doing everything in their power to obfuscate and diminish the particulars of the beating. They want to treat it just like they treated Rodney King, but they know they have to reframe and decontextualize it so that they don't have to admit that white supremacy isn't the culprit here.
really? cause i stil hear them complaing about the police. almost like they dislike the cops
The point being made is despite the real world impact it has no influence or cause any change in the behavior of people on social media, it does not make them conclude that acting like cops online is bad
>man getting beaten to death by police abusing their power means people need to change their online behaviour?
What?
To social media It's all just a spectacle for relatively short term shock value
>anon thinks that news story of the week is exclusive to now
ok
>The recent beating isn't a contender since it's black-on-black and is thus being swept under the rug
No, its not, there are massive protests about it coutnry wide.
If this movie were made now, I doubt they'd even put Kid Rock in it.
Does anyone still have that one image of osmosis jones fricking corona-chan?
Rule 34 has it
Is it down?
Am I weird for not really liking Osmosis Jones that much? No not just the live action stuff, the rest of the movie itself was kinda mediocre
nah, there's problems with the writing ittelf and the presentation
No Thrax porn.
Sad
I don't believe that for a second. Look harder
Osmosis Jones 2: Frank doesn't get vaccinated (2020)
is OJ2 still even possible with Zaslav at the helm?
They haven't even released 1 on blu ray
at was on streaming at one point at least
>thrax
>dark
pick one newbie
I really do like this design
Did a quick rough colour
It’s cute!
Toast to flu 2
Reminder that long before the coof, The New Adventures Of Nanoboy had a pair of non-covid variant coronavirus sisters, one reformed, (Corona Jane, on the left) the other evil.
What the heaven is that?
Used to run on the CW early Saturdays. Kid falls into his dad's experiment and gains the ability to shrink down to microscopic size, where he goes on adventures to protect peaceful microbes.
The last animated movie released in theaters before 9/11. It premiered on august.
>A half-assed Three Amigos ripoff somehow has Pixars' best villain
SEVEN
SAMURAI
it's not like pixar had many real villains to begin with
He barely has any competition, not hard to achieve that.
IT'S ABOUT KEEPING THOSE ANTS IN LINE
why didn't they like the ants again?
I don't think it's that they hate the ants, just that they're basically keeping the ants in line with fear to give them food every year so the grasshoppers basically have it easy. The leader, Hopper, is afraid of the ants because he knows that if the ants ever really fought back they'd face impossible odds, and they want to keep their easy life leeching off the ants.
It's amazing how people actually need this kind of shit explained to them. I'm guessing this dude never actually watched A Bug's Life.
Yeah doesn't he have an entire speech about it, explaining it very clearly
Yep. https://youtu.be/UI-RFRykjTk?t=106
Enter
>tfw some guy owns all the osmosis jones concept art and production materials but hasn't dumped all of them online
sooner or later that dude's house will burn and all that shit's getting lost forever
Osmosis Jones didn't have enough funny moments for a comedy movie that lasts 88 minutes without credits.
the jokes were lame, better off without them
It's intended to be a comedy though anon, you can't make a comedic film and not have a decent amount of actually funny moments in them that's not how this works.
you can have comedy without making Chris Rock crack lame jokes below his level every now and then
The last one about the docks was sorta ok I guess
This movie introduced me to Craig David. It features "Key to my Heart" and "Fill Me In".
What would Polio look in the Osmosis Jones world?
A bunch of polio limbs. Basically, the IT Docent but before it takes the limbs of many cells and bends them, its base form looks like an ice topping that flies to the nearest dessert and assimilates the first cell it is ingested by. The next batch of victims lose their limbs and are left as limbless casualties that eventually starve since the Polio also took their mitochondria.
give me that virus wiener
I want the sequel where the corona virus and Anthrax both infect someone and get into a fight over who gets to be the dominant disease in the body, as Corona-chan wants him to wander around coughing on people and die slowly to maximize her spread while thrax just wants to do it quick and fast.
>"You better run and hide, little girl. This cat's going to burn by this time tomorrow, and I'm not gonna let some jumped up flu bug get in my way."
>"Just what I'd expect from a short-sighted wannabe plague, you think it's all about speed. I get my way, and the world's gonna be brought to a standstill by how far I spread."
Really boring movie without a good storyline, funny jokes and a clear target audience. The animation alone cannot save it.
TV show is better. No live action segments, takes place inside a boy, female cop character, funnier humor, Phil LaMarr instead of Chris Rock, etc.
Drix also looks better as a 2D character.
You just made me remember how I let out a dumb laugh every time I saw the 3D Drix in the opening.
this guy gets it, oj worked better as a tv series than a movie
Should have been a teen girl, hono
Speaking of that. Does Cinemaphile like buddy cop series?
Only if it's good
Bonkers showed how that can get annoying
