A couple of years ago he was the hottest shit on Youtube. Now most of his videos can't even reach 500,000 views. What happened?

Bot.
a couple years ago? his shit was stale for at least 5 years
His jokes are bad, simple as.
>*ding* the movie doesn't open in a Pittsburgh deli
My theory: the videos have become too long, and corporations have it uncool to be overly critical ("toxic") of movies and shows, normies now associate that with low-status nerds, right-wingers, toxic fanboys etc.
have made it*
May be, i think he shits too little on capeshit.

this
just get excited for next product

Or he's just not funny. Who the fuck is going to sit there and watch nearly a halfhour of unfunny jokes?
>y-you only think I'm shit because ~~*THEY*~~ tricked you into thinking I'm unfunny!
shut up homosexual
pitch meeting eclipsed it
I refuse to click on those
They're unironically good though. Like the combination of Honest Trailers and Cinemasin's core ideas but without any of the issues.
Trends come and go. In addition, this is one of the most heavily attacked channels in the movie entertainment sector, especially after that Kong Skull Island drama. When called out for inaccuracies, Jeremy's response was basically
>I purposely will lie about a movie because I'm playing a character
which is a horrible defense. Should've just said he gets shit wrong sometimes. But I think it's mainly just a tired formula. I used to check their channel regularly, but I haven't been on in months. And I definitely see view counts way down compared to last year, which could've been the pandemic to be fair.
Best example is Batman vs TMNT, vs the Long Halloween parts 1 and 2. Both DC animated film criticisms, the latter with way less views.
To play a character through criticism you need to actually present criticisms in a way that paint a character. For example, give a sin for a scene where where a kid talks back to his parents and don't get beaten up by them - that's a joke that develops a critic character.
Otherwise, things like this are only funny when (you think) they are true. Once you realize they aren't true, they stop being interesting because there's no intentional humor.
Yeah, there's nothing about Cinemasins guy that screams "character" unless you want to count the lapdance meme. Which isn't wacky enough to be a character quirk.
Him and Nostalgia Critic both lie about the movie under the guise of "playing a character" and bitch about the imaginary problems the movie never had. Couple of homosexuals. I'll never forgive Jeremy for shitting on "I, Robot" and Megamind/Doug for implying that Brandon Fraiser was miscast in The Mummy and making fun of "Samwise the brave" scene in FoTR.
And just so you won't have to:
>t. reddit fag
>Brandon Fraiser was miscast in The Mummy
He really said that?
Multiple times. Like I said, ragging on the imaginary problems is his forte.
He plays a "Schrödinger's critic", he is more than fine with his retarded audience taking his views as gospel and legitimate film critique, but the moment someone calls him out for lying or getting stuff wrong he's suddenly just joking or playing a character. Spineless loser.
Kong Skull Island drama?
>there’s no gravity in space
The videos stopped being funny. I’ll still watch their older stuff now and then.
The hot sexy sex lady on screen isn't having sex with me instead. *ding*
>white people *ding*
>Miscegenation.
*ding*
He got stale back in 2012-2013 and it's 2022. Also, the videos used to be around 5-10 minutes, so the jokes didn't get old. Last time I checked, the videos were over 20 minutes, so that accelerated his decline. Is he still going?
>Andy Dufrense is not slaughtering Red for being a subhuman in this scene *one million dings*
Why did CinemaSins hire Raimi?
I feel like every old youtube channel is dying. Youtube just doesn't recommend them and most of the time their notifications don't show up. If you don't actively go to a channel you'll probably forget they even existed, seems like the youtube algorithm sure does.
A lot of this seems to do with Youtube no longer valuing subscriptions as much. They value and push memberships much more (that's paid subscriptions to a channel) and even rewrote their creator app to highlight memberships more than subscriptions.
It's also become evident that a lot of older channels had bots as subscribers and it seems like youtube also punishes those accounts that have high bot subscribers by not recommending them.
As for that specific channel, I stopped watching because his videos are boring to me now.
tbh I think this makes sense. Last I checked, one of the biggest deterrents to new creators is the idea that the people who have been around longer have an inherent advantage, and as a new channel you'll never make headway. If Youtube's doing things to de-prioritize stale channels, maybe that's a benefit.
Hold up now, your comment could apply to any Youtube channel. Just because I wouldn't listen to some rando critiquing a movie IRL doesn't mean I won't watch it on Youtube.
>that time a channel i watched lost 750k subs over night amd in the next video was just casually said that youtube nuked his subs and never elaborated
I already had my suspiscions but its so obvious alot of mid tier channels are cooperating with uploads and views while also botting both views and subs.
It seems more than a couple years ago. Personally, I stopped watched them when they stopped being 3 to 10 minutes long. The enjoyment of the short videos was you would watch them and go 'Huh, that doesn't make sense if you really think about it', 'I never noticed that before' etc.. They were not a source of real analysis and instead relied on their fun snappy nature. The greater length didn't add anything of value, with so many of the sins (ultimately just to pad them the video out) being either 1) issues that to say are sins is really pushing it, 2) just straight-out not valid criticisms, or 3) were joke criticisms that failed at being funny. I think also the novelty just faded away.
Once you've seen one CinemaSins video you've seen them all.
After one or two, you're better off watching movies than watching videos by some internet marketer telling you how much he hates movies.
I blocked this channel out of my recommendations years ago. It wasn't enough to just not watch them, I had to flee them. One of the few things on the internet too incandescently fucking gay to just ignore and scroll past, this homosexual makes my skin crawl.
People don't like pedantry. If this fucking freak came up to you in a theater and started rattling off his retarded factoids you'd bash him over the head with your popcorn tray. He's not funny, he's never observed anything originally, it is a crime against your own dignity to sit and watching this mewling homosexual. do literally anything else
Is there any overlap between this guy's fanbase and that of Mauler's? They both seem similar from what I can tell, or do both fanbases hate one another and/or are they completely different?
In the beginning he was kind of funny.
Then he ran out of bad movies to review, so started doing EVERY film, and it lost its soul.
I don't watch "Honest Trailers" any more either.
His audiences grew up
I remember hearing some generic leftist shit at one point. Its been so long I don't remember what it was, like dinging for "misogyny" or something. Havent watched since.
>What happened?
Mauler and other youtube "critics" happened, who do the same nitpicky bullshit that CinemaSins established, but without the false pretense of parody or humour.
The only movie critic worth watchin is E;R
Hope he drops dead soon.
Guy complained about some woke bullshit in his video instead of sinning the movie, like why cover older movies just to virtue signal them
His jokes are stale, also his core audience grew up and got jobs.
