A lot of people complain about stuff like Star Wars, Terminator, Indiana Jones, Superman, Star Trek etc going down in flames, but I maintain that no other franchise has fricked itself over harder than Scream did. Scream never had moronic prequels or salvations or crystal skulls or dad tornadoes or captain xirs. Worse we ever had was the Roman retcon in 3, which can be overlooked by anyone bar the most acoustic among us, because the movie is still fun. The show sucked too, but it's like the 9th season of Scrubs, as in nobody gives a shit. For all intents and purposes, Scream was doing just fine. None of the creatives or the cast ever insulted the fanbase, legacy cast was still alive, good will and excitement remained intact, and the franchise was ripe for a reboot. And then 5 and 6 happened, and both of them were horrendously atrocious, committing all the sins that plague contemporary entertainment revivals and crashing the franchise with no survivors. How do you frick up this bad?

"Reddit" isn't an adjective you internet addicted freak. And you probably couldn't even begin to explain what you mean when you say something is "reddit" because you have a smooth brain

You don’t understand… as the replies to your post show zoomers are still on their “I’M DOING Cinemaphile” phase. It’s why the jeet memes never end.

Because it's a horror film series. They're expected to go on forever and be terrible.

It was intentionally made to give a middle finger to white men. To rub it in their faces how all-white American suburbia had become completely brown within a single generation. Every single white character in the reboot either dies or is a villain, whereas brown characters always manage to survive.

My first instinct is to call you a turbo homosexual, but I won't. Instead, I'll take advantage of this opportunity to ask you what you liked about 5 and 6, because I've never met an actual unironic fan of those installments in real life. So anon, what did you like about 5 and 6?

In 5 Dewey dies and the villain is toxic fandom, and 6 shits all over the lore while managing to be the only slasher movie in the history of cinema where none of the main cast dies because it's the current year and you can't kill brown people.

It's rebooting itself again with Neve Campbell because they fired the lead of the last two shitty movies. Maybe this one will be better, you never know.

Really? Because I had the impression Scream had maintained a consistent quality throughout the years. Both times the franchise was revived, it was well received, and Scream 3 remains the least popular one.

I'm not gonna say 5 and 6 were great, but they were certainly much better than any of the last entries from Star Wars, Terminator, Indiana Jones, Superman and Star Trek.

As a huge Scream fan, 6 was bad. It appealed to a lot of new fans but it seems that a lot of existing fans hated it.

The only based thing about Scream in the last decade was the speech given by the villain of the 3rd TV series (the Black person one) immediately before dying. She was a coalburner though so deserved death.

The series died with Wes Craven. 5 and 6 aren't real Scream movies.
