They were Europeans, some of them probably Indo-Europeans. They picked up some Semites probably, but overall they were Aegeans. Maybe also some Balkan and Italian tribes.
After the collapse a bunch of new people showed up there, all of them Indo-European (Phrygians, Armenians).

Actually the people who dealt with the sea people the best were the Assyrians, who were Semitic. The Hittites, who were indo-European, suffered the worst from the sea people and a a result, the Assyrians were later able to destroy the Hittites more easily.

My understanding is that they were some sort of loose collection of various peoples, Sardinians and possbily af few myceneans and other seafarers and pirates picked up along the way.
I say Myceneans becasue altough that palace culture ended around the bronze age collapse when the eastern mediterranean trade network got heemed and elties couldn't get their hands on prestige goods there are curious finds of mycenean and submycenean artifacts on Cyprus and in Philistia.

This is a list of the people referred to on the Medinet Habu steles which the Egyptians made to record their victory over the various sea peoples, and their most likely identities
      >Denyen
Almost certainly the Danaoi/Danaan of Homeric epics, i.e. Mycenaean Greeks
      >Ekwesh
      Achaean Greeks
      >Lukka
      Lycians, semi-Hellenized Anatolians
      >Peleset
      Philistines, Minoan (Cretan) Greeks
      >Shekelesh
      Sikels, i.e. Sicilians
      >Sherden
      Sardinians, a Nuragic people
      >Teresh
      Tyrrhenians, Etruscans
      >Tjekker
      Teucrians, Hellenized Anatolians
      >Karkisa
nobody knows who the frick these guys were

of course there's a lot of other plausible etymological bases for these names, for example Teresh could well refer to Trojans, and Denyen could be the Israelite tribe of Dan, and it's possible all of these are true, since the evidence points towards vast mercenary and piratical migration across the eastern mediterranean

No, end it with the Egyptians repelling the Sea Peoples. My idea would be to dedicate each episode to the various cultures dealing with the Sea Peoples invading and other issues of the Bronze Age collapse. The Egyptians were the only civilization to survive the whole ordeal intact, so they would be the "triumphant" finale.

Spartans also had a special lesbian party before the men returned from military deployment. They teased each other with erotic poetry and dancing so their pussies would already be dripping wet when their husbands got home.

Who knows, it was certainly part of the Hittitie world, Troy VI & VIII contained a mix of Hittite and Mycenean artifacts. If I'm not misstaken there are mention in Hittite texts about the king of Willusa paying tribute to the Hittite king.

    Aegeans, Sardinians, Italians and Balkanites.

Mycenean pottery shows up in destroyed city, but also primitive Balkan and Italian handmade pottery ( it also shows in destroyed Mycenean sites). Naue II swords from Central Europe, and small shields also show up. Some Sardinian-like helmets and weapons are depicted in Egyptian hieroghlyphs.

Ancient genes support the appearence of Aegeans in the Levant - in early Iron Age in a Philistine city Ashkelon. Other genetic evidence include the replacement of local Levantine pigs by European pigs. Genetically European pigs replaced local ones, so someone brought there European pigs.

The proto-villanovan that would later become etruscan(not that they were italic) where in Northern Italy by 1200BC, around the bronze age collapse. As far as I'm aware they had some trade ties with the Aegean world but if those encounters were one sided Mycenean expeditions I don't know. It's possible they weren't maritime unlike the etruscans who were famous for their seafaring and piratical acivity according to greek sources.
