This is the new Jane Austen movie? I hear it's been getting horrible reviews from the critics.

            Oh.

Colin Firth BBC series is so much better than this shite.

is right, the 1995 Colin Firth version is better. And anything is better than the 1999 Mansfield Park - what a steaming heap of woke shit that was.

I googled this and it showed me a preview of the cast. When I didn't see any black people, I opened up IMDB for the full cast, shocked that Netflix would film a movie without blacks. But no, there he was, the token black guy.

        >token black guy

It's coming out tomorrow. It called "Persuasion" and it's about a late 20s unmarried chick who suddenly finds herself courted by two eligible bachelors (one is a now-well off captain that she rejected 10 years ago and the other is her cousin that is broke and is after her title or money or something). Judging by the trailer they made her a sassy looking-at-the-camera Fleabag type of gal and not a depressed old maid as in the novel.

        >Fleabag
Bingo bingo. The critics are trashing it because of this. I liked the version with Ciaran Hinds, pretty good/comfy.

I just watched the movie with Ciaran Hinds, it's pretty good. The lead actress was great, but she looked more like 40, not 27-28.

Have you seen the 2001 adaptation of Trollope's The Way We Live Now? If no, I strongly recommend it - great stuff.

I know, I know. But it's faithful to the novel, the costumes are good, and the story (financial bubbles/swindles) is pretty topical.

Alright lads, my fiancee loves Jane Austen. What movies are good? There seems to be a dizzying amount of them. I actually enjoyed Emma (2020).

Not Austen, but maybe try Gigi (1958) with Leslie Caron and Louis Jourdan. It's a romantic musical, in fact probably the best of its kind.

watch the BBC miniseries versions of Emma and P&P. they dick all over the various movie attempts. your fiancee will literally suck your dick, particularly if she's not yet experienced Colin Firth as Darcy.

        From the movies I'd recommend:
        Pride and Prejudice (2005)
        Sense and Sensibility (1995)
        Persuasion (1995)

The P&P series with Colin Firth is pretty good and comfy.

Thanks lads. I'm not sure what it is about these stories that she likes so much but I'll check these out from the library.

Are there any babes in them? I presume there's no t&a, though. Not to be a total perv.

Colin Firth P&P is actually STUFFED with titkino, and the empire waistline fashion is a treat for people into nice hips. The dresses are very roomy but you get some good shots when they're walking with a breeze to plaster it to their sides.

            t. watched the miniseries P&P 3 times in the last 2 months for artistic merit alone, absolutely ridiculously high quality shows, the boobs are actually distracting from the social dynamics that I care more about

the kiera knightly P&P is pure laughable garbage, none of it makes any sense and all the characters are wrong, and almost worst of all they got rid of that putin-looking drunkard guy

I've been meaning to complete the 1940s one, it's definitely not a perfect adaptation but the performances are very soulful

anyway 1995 sense and sensibility is also fantastic up until the last quarter of it, where they rush through everything and the payoff sucks as a result. Needed to be a 4 hour movie for sure. I know that sounds ridiculous but it doesn't feel long and you'll know what I mean

1996 emma is pretty good, not offensive in any regard but it's not quite as entertaining as it wants to be, and kinda confusing. It will be a nightmare for you if you aren't good at memorizing faces and names instantly
