I’m not gonna say that women ruined this series but I do hate how articles came out bringing up the men’s based writing room before season 3 and Dan freaked out and just brought some in. Or so I’ve read and I’m sure it’s true. The close knit group of friends just bullshitting around is what made seasons 1 and 2 so great. It feels like a completely different show.

Women ruined it by just being in the writing room. No matter how "cool" a woman is, youre not gonna make the same jokes out loud with a woman present in the room, like you would if its all guys shooting the shit. Everyones got the filter/restrain turned out, even unconsciously.

Considering therapists are supposed to give you an outside perspective of your issues, and Rick respects only his view of things because he's smart enough to prove it mostly right, what is this supposed to accomplish?

My guess is that a family member told her something and isn't telling Rick so he's gone in there and thrown a fit because she's upholding confidentiality and it ends up being something completely pointless and mundane after Rick speeds half a dozen sessions trying to science bullshit it out of her.

Honestly, I've never met you or your girlfriend, nor have I ever seen a therapist, but from this post alone I can tell you're a shitty person.
You laugh at your girlfriend for suggesting you get help, you assume everyone in the profession of therapy is nothing more than money hungry, and you don't consider how your actions might be affecting others negatively. Then you refuse to change, now seething with hatred towards therapists on a thread about Rick and Morty.
I'm sure your girlfriends therapist saw this through her telling them about you, and suggested whatever >conditioning her to hate me.
          entails.
You don't specify, but I'd assume it wasn't something like her kicking you out of her life, I'd say it was probably her trying to talk to you in ways a therapist would, trying to help you get to the core of her problems, but considering she's not a therapist and has a biased look at you, considering you were dating, she likely wasn't the best at it, especially when you're unwilling to talk about your feelings in the first place.
If not that, then there's the possibility of her misinterpreting what her therapist was telling her, after all, you never went to see them. You don't know what exactly her therapist was saying. But chances are higher that they were trying to help than just "seeing a threat to their dollars."
You don't seem to understand, as don't plenty of people, that therapist's can't just be your friend you talk to for free. For some people that's fine, that works, but for the profession of therapy, there needs to be some distance between the psychologist and the patient, lest the form an attachment too strong and start having biases towards each other's words and action.
I mean, in the end we're basically in the same boat. We're both shitty people browsing Cinemaphile, neither of us are likely to change.
I'd suggest you get help as well, as I would to practically everyone that browses here more than once a month, but considering you ----

I feel like there are a ton of people who use Rick as a self insert power fantasy when the show has been gradually showing how his way of life doesn't actually work if you desire real relationships, but the fanbase of the show dislikes anything where Rick is second banana creating this weird point of contention.

I just miss when Rick was an butthole mad scientist, only doing shit because he was a nihilist and didn't care about his family and brought his niave grandson with him and it made the funny happen.

Now Rick's a narcissist with a God complex, Morty and Summar are nihilistic, and Beth is a narcissist in the grossest way. Jerry is the best character in the show anymore, mostly because he's been turned into what Morty originally was.

        Anonymous

        >because he was a nihilist and didn't care about his family
Rick has cared about his family, or at least Morty, from literally the opening scene in the pilot. He's just a wacky, irresponsible, giga tsundere. The difference is that characterization was funnier and more light-hearted until season 3 happened. They built up the seriousness of Rick being an butthole and yet simultaneously made him virtually untouchable. Now they have to take the show more seriously and knock him down much harder just to fix the problem they created, but S1&2 Rick is never coming back.

          > He's just a wacky, irresponsible, giga tsundere.
Yeah, this. It’s perfectly clear towards the end of the devil episode where Rick is bored enough to where he even tries to go see a movie with the butter robot. He wants to do whatever he likes but he needs others around him. He likes the family but will not admit it.

I think that's the conflict they're setting up. The Rick who killed Beth is the Rickest Rick. The one who truly does not give a shit about anyone else. Rick C-137 does care, and his insistence he doesn't is a facade he puts on needing to be better then that Rick. And him having a family is ultimately where he'll succeed.

They've done therapy episodes with the Simpsons for AGES. Hell, the very first major watercooler/meme moment from the Simsons was the season one episode where the family violently electroshocks each other in Marvin Monroe's office.

They've also done episodes with Bart in therapy (with a therapist who used video games to make Bart drop his guard and the pay-off being that Bart reveals that Homer telling him he was an unplanned pregnancy fricked him up and he acts out because being told that messed him up inside) and Marge, who has had two therapist episodes (one where her fear of flying was addressed and another where Homer found out that she was secretly seeing a therapist behind his back and that it was the only thing keeping her sane and from just laying down on the ground and wishing to die from dealing with her hellsih homelife).

I love this and am excited, there’s no such thing as a bad Rick and Morty episode, tbh. I can’t wait to watch this woman ass rape Prick yet again for all he’s done to this family- especially for what he’s done to Beth, Space Beth, Summer, and Morty. (Frick Jerry.) I’m glad Dan Harmon hates Rick so much he wants to make the audience hate him too. Rick is unsympathetic, lesbophobic, a rapist, and doesn’t care about his family. I mean yeah, he’s one of the deepest and most well thought out character on television ever, and his writing is an absolute masterpiece like the rest of the show (Not as much of a well thought out and deep character as Beth or Space Beth) and I’ll always defend his writing- but Dan Harmon hates Rick, and wants us to realize the real main character is Beth. Rick is such a genius character to point out the real story of Rick and Morty, Dan Harmon is a God at writing, His Rick hate is working on the audience because the whole fandom hates him. This show gets better and better every season. Inside Job wishes it could be this great with Reagan (Beth Rip off) and her Dad (Rick rip off) but it could NEVER have this impact.

If you're the guy that keeps talking about how this show is "such a good drama" or whatever, then shouldn't Beth and Jerrys relationship have actually, visually progressed? I mean, Jerry seems like maybe he's different, like slightly less insecure, but Beth hasn't changed at all. She's still just as jaded towards Jerry as before and seems to hate him just for existing.

My guess is that this is going to be the big lore drop episode of the second half of the season.

Rick will finally spill the beans on his dead wife and how that destroyed him mentally and made him a monster, combined with the reveal that knowing that Morty is the grandson of the Rick who destroyed Rick's life and family is why he treats Morty like dog shit and why he considers his paternal attachment to Morty "toxic" and refuses to show any kindness or warmth to Morty unless it's in further service to his schemes.

I know it's possible to make something entertaining out of something that's basically just characters sitting around talking, but I know the current writers aren't capable of that.

If it's literally just Rick and the therapist talking for the whole episode, they'll be obligated to mention the animation budget, wasting the medium, a bottle episode, and/or the concept of "show don't tell" because they lack the confidence to actually pull it off. But I doubt they'll even get that far, so there'll definitely be flashbacks and/or a completely unrelated b-plot. Maybe they'll actually do something interesting, but I won't hold my breath.

It's just kinda sad knowing it can be done well, but they can't do it.
