I think shit like that loses its effectiveness when the movie starts to explain the phenomenon, which this movie will probably do. The scariest piece of media I ever watched is the music video for black hole sun by soundgarden. It doesn't explain shit, it just starts like a dream and soon turns into a nightmare where plastic american faces distort with smiles until scorching heath melts everything and people see their loved ones get suck into air and woman sees her baby turn into levitating piece of goo.

And the title sounds like they were stoned, saw a picture of a solar eclipse and said "dude it looks like the sun is a black hole, like a black hole sun".

            Anonymous

The song isnt really about anything, just about vague negative feelings like many grunge lyrics. The whole video was some directors idea, probably had a shitton of money to throw on experimental cgi as music videos were the king of media back then

It's the same video that they put in other videos as ads, so they count all the views even when people didn't want to see it. That's why it has the 5-second version of the trailer at the start, so you see the movie's title before you can skip the ad.

I'm a guy and lots of gay guys have told me that but women tell me that all the time too, especially older women. Conversely, I have not heard someone say that to a woman unless there's already conflict and it's meant to be a dig, so I don't think I've heard it ever said like Twitter thinks it should happen.

The Blair Witch Project did that with the even more mundane thing of someone standing with their back to you. I mean, a basic, ancient scary thing is there being a face at the window, probably in your bedroom. In a basic way, it's just a person looking at you but that can be one of the most unsettling things in certain contexts.

                Anonymous

For me it's the fact that Ito stuff often has things that aren't really a direct threat (e.g. like being trapped in a room with a lion) but are actually things that potentially aren't even a threat at all. It's just unsettling. Like all the people travelling to the mountain to fit through the hole until they become stretched out and deformed. You're not thinking "Oh no, I hope I don't have an urge to go to a weird hole in a mountain and squeeze in!" or "Oh no, I hope I don't see spirals everywhere - I hate spirals!"

It's just a weird thing that makes you uncomfortable in a way that's hard to shake. The far end of the spectrum from a slasher movie where it's like "wouldn't it be bad to be stabbed to death?" Yes, yes it would. I alrea0gsmkdy knew that, though.

kek, I stopped being scared of horror movies when I was 12 or something. Now it's either really boring or really funny.

Why are pajeets so creepy? Is it because i never do the needful and they can smell my noncompliance to their poodoo?

I think it looks decent but since we're ripping on it for unoriginality, they stole the premise of the only survivor hiding in prison/mental hospital from death/smiling demon. I do kinda wanna see how Mr Smiley gets the guy in prison though.

The trailer looks terrifying. Can't wait. It'll probably be one of those modern horror masterpieces that Cinemaphile unjustly hates, like The Babadook.

I agree. I think people are being to hard on this movie and are jumping to conclusions.

Eh, I feel like the trailer might be stronger than the movie but it looks interesting enough. Better than It Follows, which I hated.

the babadook was fricking terrible though. like laughably bad. people defending it kept saying it was a good movie just because it used symbolism but the symbolism was ham fisted obvious shit and the horror elements fell flatter than a crepe

I thought it was better than Get Out, another film that's not that good but gets overrated because of a meta element like symbolism or message. Get Out wasn't scary at all, not even a little creepy. The Babadook didn't particularly scare me but I wouldn't want to watch it at 2AM on my own, tbh. Get Out, well that'd be as scary as watching Paul Blart: Mall Cop at 2AM.

Babadook was legitimately creepy at times. Get Out wasn't actually even a horror. It was more like
          >Ahhh shiieet das right I do be feelin uncomfortable around wypipo!

Because they know they're living life how it's meant to be lived rather than imprisoning themselves in a cage of virtue signalling and sacrificing their happiness for others.
