Wasn't Nolan mentioned for the next director, and a 60s set bond; maybe we'll get a young bond arc?

he's 7 years older than Craig was when he started

Craig was 37 when Casino Royale released, we are years away from this Bond first movie

He was 37 when he was announced as Bond, 38 the year the film came out. And still doesn’t make ATJ 7 years older than Craig was

a 60s bond would be great. can finally have a classic soviet villain instead of "le terrorist" for the 100th time.

        >have a classic soviet villain
The Soviets were never really the direct villains in Bond films:
        >Dr. No - money [SPECTRE]
        >From Russia with Love - revenge against Bond [SPECTRE]
        >Goldfinger - money [also being helped by China]
        >Thunderball - money [SPECTRE]
        >You Only Live Twice - money [SPECTRE - implied that SPECTRE is being paid by China]
        >On Her Majesty's Secret Service - money
        >Diamonds Are Forever - money
        >Live and Let Die - money
        >The Man with the Golden Gun - money and eventually a desire to prove himself against Bond
        >The Spy Who Loved - destroy the world
        >Moonraker - destroy the world
        >For Your Eyes Only - money (the Soviets appear however they are merely purchasing the device, not who Bond is going up against nor are they portrayed as actual villains)
        >Octopussy - one villain is motivated by money, another villain is motivated by wanting to cause the West to disarm its nuclear deterrent
        >A View to a Kill - money
        >The Living Daylights - money, plus one of the villains also wanting MI6 to assassinate his rival
        >Licence to Kill - is about Bond wanting revenge
        >GoldenEye - revenge and money
        >The World Is Not Enough - money
        >Tomorrow Never Dies - money/influence
        >Die Another Day - uniting North and South Korea
Only Octopussy and The Living Daylights feature a major Soviet villain, and both of them are rogue traitors.

Russian villain is an easy shot now
They won't do China for the obvious reasons

Oh sure but, the point is the Soviets were never villains in Bond films - capitalists were portrayed as bigger villains than commies. It is wrong to say that a 1960s based Bond film featuring the Soviets as villains would be faithful to the films of the 60s.

      >Wasn't Nolan mentioned for the next director
Note that ATJ had a semi-major role in Tenet under Nolan, they're already familiar

While this would possibly be more entertaining than the Craig Bonds, it's weird to have a director imposing his style on a Bond movie. The best Bonds have been made by competent journeyman British directors who have just sought to make an exciting and novel installment in the franchise, not some work of pretentious cinematic art, as Nolan is likely to attempt.

      >young bond arc?
They aren't doing that. They said young actors don't have the "gravitas" for the role.

And that's fine with me. I don't want another young bond reboot. Craig's was trash. I want real bond back
