because the stallone film was campy as fuck, so it needed a serious counterpart. also the author said karl urban nailed dredd's character perfectly, and not just because the helmet never came off.
>Abandoned everything that made the comic good
Wrong
Not him and I disagree with him too but they did steer clear of the old 70s sci-fi pulp look that the Stallone film grabbed with both hands. Ironically that film was a lot closer in that it had almost all the elements of the first comic stories, Rico (who is in like one comic), the ABC Warrior cameo, the Angel Gang, the Judges conspiracy although weirdly choosing to make Judge Griffin the bad guy instead of Judge Cal, the one who usurped him. The old comics were pretty goofy and that's okay. But I think the 2012 film made the right choice being more serious and adapting it well for live action grounding it in a more simple straightforward siege film.
>Love both versions
Same
I think Dredd is overall the better movie, but Judge Dredd is more fun, and if I had to sit down and watch one right now, I'd go with Judge Dredd.
>Abandoned everything that made the comic good
I've read damn near every comic with Dredd in it and this was a pretty good adaptation. Cut some of the fat out from the original comic but kept the core parts of the character unlike the stallone version.
It's a 50 year old IP at this point, with different writers and artists, along with side stories and a DREDD universe with their own takes on Judge Dredd.
Some of it is cartoonish, some is too British, some of it is KINO and some is too dystopian.
this movie was amazing, the soundtrack and cinematography was awesome and I watch it once every year.
Imagine actually having to defend this awesome movie that stands firmly on its own feet and spoon-feed it to a braindead zoomer. How big of a fag can one OP be?
Didn't Dredd go into production before The Raid? It was the insistence of converting it to 3D that delayed the release until after that movie came out.
yea dredd started production in late 08 after a few script rewrites and was already in filming by the time evans finished his script and started filming the raid.
yea dredd started production in late 08 after a few script rewrites and was already in filming by the time evans finished his script and started filming the raid.
Dredd was in production before the raid. So. Shut the fuck up.
Dredd was a completely different movie before ripping off the Raid, nice try though.
I just love how angry he gets when dredd says wait. He took it as a personal insult that this judge who has been hyped up to be the best of the best has the nerve to tell the guy who bested him to wait. He almost killed dredd with his angry speech alone
I agree, but it's still from the late 00s-early 10s, where everything is gritty and tacticool with a sepia filter. If it was in production during post-2012 capeshit era it would have looked closer to 2000AD
It’s on my list of “i have no idea what to watch today” movies
i did this last week at work, it was a great idea. i also have to listen to the ost, it's such a banger

comics were pretty wacky from what I've read (up to the 90s now). had aliens and space cities and super heroes and austalia city and a nuke war with russia city. silly laws upheld (no comics). now it's pretty grimdark (90s yeah haha) and iirc the political cucking comes at some point
because its a good action movie and no one other than nerds care about comic book bullshit
Fun action with some good acting and attractive waifu. That's enough to make anyone who isn't a giant comic nerd to like it.
because the stallone film was campy as fuck, so it needed a serious counterpart. also the author said karl urban nailed dredd's character perfectly, and not just because the helmet never came off.
Lol, Dredd is nothing like urban Portrayed him.
This isn't a Dredd movie
wagner was a consultant on the movie you midwit, of course it was a judge dredd movie.
>I'm so naive
>This isn't a Dredd movie
Stay mad, homosexual. It's Dredd in every way, shape, and form.
>everything that made the comic good
like what
He's never read them. Shill tactic to get people talking about the IP so they can announce some shit new woke-wanked version from Amazon.

Wrong
Love both versions of this character, possibly like Stalone a little more because of the kino one liners.
>I DID NOT BREAK THE LAW, I AM THE LAW!
kino line, kino delivery, but his drooping lip should've been taken care of before shooting.
>Love both versions
Same
I think Dredd is overall the better movie, but Judge Dredd is more fun, and if I had to sit down and watch one right now, I'd go with Judge Dredd.
I love some of these covers
i also want to watch judge dredd right now but only because i watched dredd last week and haven't seen JD in a few years
there's also some fan edit floating around the internet i've heard about, called the brutal beta cut, supposed to be better.
It’s the best dystopian sci fi movie ever made
The stallone version got the goofyness right.
The new version got the action right.
If only we could merge the two.
>comic
sorry nobody reads anymore
>Abandoned everything that made the comic good
I've read damn near every comic with Dredd in it and this was a pretty good adaptation. Cut some of the fat out from the original comic but kept the core parts of the character unlike the stallone version.
fucking kino, everytime.
>Amazon.
rebellion would never let amazong rape dredd
>Hunting down transparent evil in the tower is the same as America
You never read shit boy
>America
Brilliant series. Well worth the read, Colin MacNeil's airbrushed style actually worked here.
Yeah the Democracy storyline was very well put together. Better the Devil You Know is also excellent.
Didn't catch all of that instalment in the Democracy storyline, will have to check it out fully someday.
>Cut some of the fat out from the original
Which fat, the fatties gang on scooters or the fat cannibal lady gang in hats?
Democracy is overrated anyway.
Only thing it abandoned was the style the substance was kept intact.
It was one of the last good, fun action movies without a load of White Man Bad bullshit
>Why is Dredd highly thought of?

he keeps his helmet on the whole time.
Because it's violent superhero goyslop with a "based right wing" message
he's not a superhero, thoughever
And the “right wing message” is that it should be ok to execute criminals in the streets?
Imagine actually having to defend this awesome movie that stands firmly on its own feet and spoon-feed it to a braindead zoomer. How big of a fag can one OP be?
he kept his helmet on and never broke character
>1995 movie: 2000AD Dredd
>2012 movie: Megazine Dredd
someone who gets it
It's a shit rippoff of The Raid, which is a highly superior movie.
Didn't Dredd go into production before The Raid? It was the insistence of converting it to 3D that delayed the release until after that movie came out.

Judge Dredd finally ends up on the wrong end of a gun and what does he say? Wait? Wait for what? Wait for me to change my mind?
No... wait for you to post dubs.
I just love how angry he gets when dredd says wait. He took it as a personal insult that this judge who has been hyped up to be the best of the best has the nerve to tell the guy who bested him to wait. He almost killed dredd with his angry speech alone
the get
The janny clan is not the law… I am the law.
Cinemaphile...This is MootMoot...Somewhere in this thread are two shitposters. I want them banned. Until I get what I want this thread is locked down.
222 years in the cubes CREEP

How do you respond without sounding mad?
>800 million people living in the ruins of the old world…
Might cum
The comic was garbage though
What was abandoned, specifically?
because it's great despite abandoning some things from thee comic
I liked it.
it felt more like and old school 80's action/ scifi flick
Endless slowmo, nigs on skateboards. Yep 80s shit
I said hot shot
I agree, but it's still from the late 00s-early 10s, where everything is gritty and tacticool with a sepia filter. If it was in production during post-2012 capeshit era it would have looked closer to 2000AD
shit i watched it last night. turns out i watch that movie a lot

sir hes thinking about going for your gun
yeah
he just changed his mind
yep

The stallone movie was way better
Interesting little connection, the music the hacker guy is listening to is from Snuff Box
is that the same matt berry who created garth marenghi?
Yea
You're thinking of Matthew Holness, but I think he's been in a few Matt Berry things and vice-versa.
indeed, he was in darkplace which is why i know his face.
i just love the fact that dredd killed so many people he ran out of ammo
and that's why it's kino
The helmet stayed on. The entire film.
the helmet stays on during sex
