Not really. In this new one the mother from the original blames the patriarchy on the fact that she couldn't be in the room during the exorcism. You have shit in it that is essentially "Christianity bad because of sexism, racism, and exclusion"
Honestly nice little premise for a 10 million Blumhouse slop. >Original director comes to haunt remake director for desecrating his work >Directed by Scott Derrickson >Staring Patrick Wilson
Bam. 150 mill easy.
For some reason all these deeply religious individuals, who believe their faith is the only valid one in existence, decided the best course of action was a multi-faith exorcism where they ultimately do what the demons asked them to do.
Dog shit movie that failed to understand why the original worked, just like their Halloween movies. They aren’t really interested in Halloween, The Exorcist or whatever horror franchise they might get their hands on. They’re just interested in milking whatever nostalgia is left and doing it with an “original character comes back after years of hiding” template that has also been done in Scream and Texas Chainsaw. Just shit legacy half reboots/half sequels. David Gordon Green, Danny McBride, they’re retards that don’t understand the franchises they write for. The worst kind of casual fans.
That’s true. The possessed Regan isn’t on the poster or trailer. They definitely wanted to make the appearance shocking. It’s just a level of detail and care that these directors don’t think of. I miss Friedkin.
She's used sparingly until the end. The third film is also great. Good dramas with some horror.
The second even had some interesting stuff, it just seemed like a couple of movies mashed together with an exorcism thrown in at the end.
It's funny because the events of the exorcism explain EXACTLY why parents shouldn't be allowed in the room. The dad literally gets his daughter killed and the demons manipulate the shit out of the parents emotions. It's not the patriarchy at all.
This movie is so fucking bad. The Exorcist is one of the greatest films of all time. I can't believe someone wrote this script and thought it was even slightly worthy. These guys wrote 1 passable Halloween reboot and they thought everything they touched turned to gold lmao.
This. I'll even goes as far to say I enjoyed Halloween, but Kills borders on parody and Ends . . . I don't know what they were going for with it. This Exorcist movie takes it even further. I can't believe they have 2 more movies in production. The fuck was the budget for this trilogy?
I watched all the Exorcist movies recently; the first movie (Theatrical Cut) and the third movie are the only ones worth watching. The first movie is a legitimate classic film, and the theatrical cut is better than the more common director's cut from 2000. The second one is just way too different to the first film, and the director of the sequel even said he wasn't a fan of the original film so why the hell did he get the job? The third movie is also different but in a much better way, and was written and directed by the author of the novel the first film is based on.
The thing why it resonated with so many people back in the day is that most people still could empathize with a women searching for a cure for her child while everyone is desensitized these days and can’t root for anybody who isn’t just like them.
good until it starts to lean hard into special effects. not saying theyre bad just unnecessary. toned town it would have been great, first 30m are kino
>The girl masturbating in the church is the best part
That was fucking vanilla when in the original regan was stabbing the crusifix on herself also going from >let Jesus Christ fuck you
To >the body and the blood
Just lame watered down shit
Not nearly as scary as the original and it mocks Christians.
>it mocks Christians
Boohoo philosemite.
So did the original.

Kenny Powers would hate it. Strange.
the original was written by a catholic, 85 IQ fedora tipper
>watching any exorcist spin offs
Why?
Honestly nice little premise for a 10 million Blumhouse slop.

I’d watch it.
reminds me of new nightmare
For some reason all these deeply religious individuals, who believe their faith is the only valid one in existence, decided the best course of action was a multi-faith exorcism where they ultimately do what the demons asked them to do.
I can only pray this happens.
I'd it true tis has the line the priests wouldn't let me watch my daughter's exorcism because of the patriarchy
Yes, also at the end all the religions of the world team up to fight the demon.

Just seeing the monster on the poster shows they've missed the point.

so do they use Pazuzu's help to fight her or something? That's part of the lore right?
They go with Captain Planet instead.
Hollywood should legislate to prevent ugly people from appearing in horror movies
it looks like a cheap comedy show
It sucks, it really sucks.
But lets forge your own opinion
Haitian Black Magic Saves the Day!

Nailed it.

did you read the book? if not, I strongly advise you to do
The book is really good.
Kinderman's parts are my favorite.
White people bad
The thing why it resonated with so many people back in the day is that most people still could empathize with a women searching for a cure for her child while everyone is desensitized these days and can’t root for anybody who isn’t just like them.
>White people BAD
>Black people GOOD
>AYO I SURVIVED. WHITE GIRL FRYIN AND DYIN IN HELL WHERE SHE BELON HEHEHEHE. TAKE DAT WHITEY
They didn't actually drive the demons out, seeing as the demons stated their terms and white dad followed them. Black girl's still possessed.
>Le patriarchy!
Lol what a slap in the face to the priests who gave their life for the daughter. This is just sad.
I already knew they woudn't make a pro-catholic movie in this year but that was just a new low
good until it starts to lean hard into special effects. not saying theyre bad just unnecessary. toned town it would have been great, first 30m are kino
a very boring shitty soft reboot that lacks soul or identity
like all soft reboots
The girl masturbating in the church is the best part. You can turn it off after that.

how can you look at blattys's face and imagine someone like him imagined that stuff, among other horrible things?
they had to COPY literally everything from the first movie? it's almost like an AI generated sequel adpated to modern audiences
They literally have the black father boxing for no reason just because the father did that in the original
worst horror movie of the year and there's a lot of competition. A hard earned victory.
