It's also wild how easy it is to see how it was made for little boys.
        >MC ends up in the OG movie MC's position of being examined by a chimpanzee couple
        >we blitz through their development and helping him escape in a matter of minutes so we can spend most of an episode of him hiding in the ape city and avoiding patrols
        >also here's a giant spider monster
Just way more time dedicated to mindless, poorly animated action than the sort of interesting, character driven stories of the original franchise.

I hated this episode of Futurama, because it falsely portrays the evolution debate. There's actually a great documentary from the 90's that goes over this, one firmly on the side of evolution but talks about how many early paleontologists were creationist Christians and had to struggle with the conflict between the evidence before them and their beliefs. Like there's a scene that contrasts a choir singing "All Things Bright and Beautiful" with a Megalosaurus killing an Iguanadon, while the narrator notes the question of why God would allow things to go extinct. Makes you sympathetic to the whole situation. Instead Futurama portrays this as:
    >RELIGION BAD, SCIENCE GOOD, SCIENCE ALWAYS RIGHT, RELIGION ALWAYS BAD

The episode wasn't good, but when I watched it it seemed like it poked fun at both sides more than I expected

I don't actually think the episode was as strongly anti-religion as you suggest. It was pro evolution though, but I think the point of Farnsworth's nanobots mimicking earth evolution was to suggest that the idea of evolution isn't incompatible with the idea of a creator god, since Farnsworth essentially was the creator god for the evolved nanobot society putting him in the same place the Orangutan professor was back on earth, with the robots chastising him for suggesting they were created by him and not evolved naturally.
The episode itself content-wise might not be the most funny as far as Futurama episodes go, but it was surprisingly fair on the idea of a creator god.

That the writer just ripped off godfellas and called it a day.

Yeah, it poked fun at both sides from what I remember; both Dr. Banjo and Farnsworth were presented as jackasses who were letting their personal beliefs rule them - insisting they were in the right - rather than even trying to humor the other party, though admittedly they do portray Dr. Banjo as the sillier of the two. By the end, they reach a compromise and understanding, taking the stance of Theistic evolution.

          >Theistic evolution.
I was active in religion when I was a kid and this was what we were always taught. There's no contradiction there and trying to argue otherwise it's just stupid and a misuse of Scripture. Same with the proponents of the whole "Young Earth" nonsense. We were taught that God very much did create the world in 7 days, but as a thousand years are a blink of an eye to God, 7 days to Him would be billions of years to us.
As an adult, I'm completely atheistic. Actually, I decided God didn't exist when I was about six years old, figuring he was no more real than hobgoblins, Boy George or any other fantastical creature.

If by insanity you mean I don't have perfect mental health, and by sloth you just mean I'm lazy, then that's not wrong, but I'd argue there are plenty of people who those apply to, so are you going to insult all of them too, or just me?
And if that's not what you meant, then please clarify, that way I'll know how offended to be.

Those Boom comics from 2011 aren't too bad. I like how they explain why the Gorillas always end up the bad guys by having it be part of a plot to have the military politically purged, so all the reasonable Gorillas got jailed or exiled.
