Max is a barely developed character so her death isn't that important and you don't have an emotional scene like this unless it actually means something, she got away, like the kids have escaped danger a hundred times before. They should have saved a scene like this for the last 2 episodes and they do it to prevent Vecna from winning or save someone else but die in the process. Now any sense of threat is gone, that a girl who looks about 14 escaped.
