The world changed as the show went on. One of the downsides of a series airing for so long.

That too, but cartoons in general became more accepting of dykes and Tumblr influence which allowed them to get introduced in Adventure Time.

It's more than that. The show aged with its core audience that it had when it originally aired thus alienating many kids that tried watching the reruns. The newer entries stopped being for kids and newcomers that weren't up on the lore.

The core audience from the start was tumblr, they hired many artists from the site during the production of first season to appear hip and indie,

There's nothing wrong with a show aging with its core audience. Otherwise you get shit like what happened with Spongebob.

I don't get what this image is supposed to be referring to, since that left design isn't one from the show or spin offs. It looks like someone who didn't watch the later seasons would imagine she'd look like based on other people's inaccurate descriptions of what it was like.

Ironically something like left appeared in s2

You're only paying attention to the dykecut, which looks quite different from your picrel. The rest of the design is night and day.

Anyone have those edits that attempt to bring screenshots from later seasons in line with the design sensibilities from the first few seasons?

It's meant to be a jab at the kinds of "fans" that latched on once bubbline go traction. There are certain bits of the design philosophy used for the left, be it the more stiff designs overall or the "de-sexing" of female characters. Another from the same drawgay that's a bit more goofy.

that image you posted was made right around the end of S3 and was a direct response to What was Missing.

Its been like 8 yrs since then, and yes Bubbline has been teased right up until their kissing scene.

              You are either:
              1. a former fan who completely stopped watching right around S3
              or
              2. A genuine autist that can pick up on obvious signs that someone dated unless its spelled out for you.

Jesus christ you are actually delusional. There was never ANY evidence that suggested they were dykes. Same with Korra. It was all done because of insane Showrunners trying to shove their degen fetish into childrens cartoons.

If one of those girls held onto the other girls shirt and took a deep sexual sniff of said shirt, then yeah.

Or if one of the girls talks about "drinking from their pretty face"

But then again im not an autist so that kind of behaviour is obvious to me

NTA but it was clearly a much later addition and not part of Pen's original vision.

90% of Adventure Time were additions and not part of the "original vision", the production was constantly in flux. Like The Lich was originally going to be a grumpy boss of the underworld and take control of Marceline since she was technically undead in the season one finale. But as they developed season two, they decided to make him a completely serious villain with Patrick Mchale creating his design.

I don't mind them being lesbians for each other, but I would have really liked to see more of this dynamic. This shined through in literally 2 episodes, being undone in the latter,

You are so fricking moronic. Adam Muto and his nasty sex pest friends changed the entire show for the worse after Penn left the show. Marceline and Bubblegum were never dykes until Mr. israeliteto made it so. Please, please take your meds.

The only ones that are moronic are you kids that stopped paying attention early on and think Bubbline just "came out of nowhere" when it was being built up for fricking years starting way back in S3.

Heterosexuality was, and still is, the norm even in cartoons so it’s easy to see why people didn’t notice the signs.

Olivia Olson was the one who said that Ward told her that PB and Marcy were exes
                >Olsen says she found herself in the recording studio with Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward recently and while they chatted about her character and PB, he offhandedly remarked "Oh, you know they dated, right?"
Not sure why you think Pendelton Ward would be opposed to that kind of stuff since he loved the whole "characters have layered pasts with each other trope", I Remember You was originally conceived as a basic Ice King/Marceline musical episode but Ward wanted to use it explore their backstory and he was the one pushed for that scene where Ice King tries to kiss Marceline to emphasize just how fricked up he was by that point.

Holy yes, yes. It's always lesbians, and they're almost always portrayed as totally perfect with no relationship problems or disagreements at all. The few times this isn't the case, the issues are either pure lip service, extremely minor to the point they might as well not be there, or are swept under the rug with "love redeems" nonsense so that no consequences can ever be had.

Everything can be traced back to "Simon & Marcy". That was the episode where random fan speculation became the canon of the show.

Penn Ward stopped being the showrunner and Adam Muto and the crew where too in to developing "LORE" which was against the ethos of the early show.

Now that being said, a lot of the fans are to blame because they loved the deep dives in to Ooo Lore, character backstory and speculation.

I liked the show better when it was random craziness but what can you do.

My greatest memory of Adventure Time is of Finn moping about thinking about girls who don't want to frick him. If Lesbianism is a package deal with straight male humiliation, I am right to challenge it. If it's not, it's their duty to rebuke it. I will let people live their lives IF they let me live mine. If they can't, I am right to destroy them.
