Comic book nerds would have said the same thing about Infinity War / Endgame when the first Iron Man movie came out.
As a long time D&D player (playing literally right now) I opened up to reply but honestly dud I don't fricking care and deleted my reply. The movie looks awful, just as awful as the last one but without Jeremy Irons.
What I'd LIKE to see is Eberron and Dark Sun. Former would be capeshit. Latter would get multiverse'd to hell and back just like the novels.
I'm almost afraid for when that drops in print. My DM wants to run a game of it. He's quite good but skews slightly silly, so idk how pants on head moronic it's gonna get soon.

No, Strahd is locked in the Plane of Mists. If you're in Ravenloft you're trapped. If we're gonna thumb through Ravenloft for a villain I'd be way more interested in Lord Soth, but that's probably just my 30yo Boomer sentiments.

It would just be 12 or so 20 minute episodes of various pink-haired, backstory-laden 5e homosexual characters getting impaled and roasted in an OD&D-style dungeon before they have the chance to advocate for gender politics or civil rights in a medieval fantasy setting.
It would be cool for a DnD movie to pull a bit switcheroo and kill off a party at the beginning that we think are the main characters but then they introduce us to the real ones later on
