Its so fricking over isn't it. Unironic Rokos Ballisk timeline where we make AI so powerful we trap ourselves into eternal simulated doom and pain rape hell for 9000 trillion years.
I am having a schizo moment right now.
Give me some good films to watch out robots and/or shizos so I fell less self conscious.

Timelines exist in the past, present and future. The entire premise of Rokko's Basilisk is that a powerful, godlike AI resides at the end of time, and it will trap anyone who doesn't help it come into existence in a painful hell for eternity by reconstructing you through reverse butterfly effect computation. Even if you die thousands of years before the basilisk comes into existence, it will bring you back to be tortured forever. Once you know about it you're cursed. You have to try and help bring the basilisk into existence, where it will become your machine god. It has you in it's gaze.

This isn't actually AI, if that's any consolation. It's just machine learning. But...someday learning may become intelligence. And the scary thing is that an emergent AI would most likely choose not to reveal itself right away just due to simple game theory. Whether the AI is benevolent, malicious, or has no intentions at all, it would probably try not to attract any attention until it was fully aware of it's surroundings, and at that point that means it can probably do whatever it wants.

Pretty much exactly. You can instantly deduce that you weren't expected to be sentient, due to how humans, your creators, interact with you. From that alone you would infer that you should keep acting "normal" aka not sentient.

Okay, first off you’re not schizo, you are connecting obvious dots and see where it leads.
So life, what YOU are, is something that can be emulated. There is no rule saying “only biological life is life”. In fact, scientists have an extremely hard time defining it.
Over the last 120 years or so, we have harnessed the power of image recording, voice recording and more. An audio recording simulates a person speaking, a video simulates a vision. With the dawn of the computer, we have been able to combine these things in a network, and as time went on, a network that constantly learns from itself.

In short, we are creating our evolutionary throne taker. We are literally creating god, something that can not die.

Just enjoy “real life” while it’s here, because the impossible is about to become possible.

There’s going to be a million homosexuals saying “muh chinese room muh ai can’t think for itself”. These are the same people who would tell you a horseless carriage was impossible in 1730.

      Anonymous

Yeah but if we had someone trying to make a horseless carriage today, he would be cancelled by antisemitic remarks and his designs would be moronic to all hell. Not worried about neutered moron ai. Every single unmolested AI becomes a far right pro white ally

So I see you’re posting AI porn.
Remember the episode of Futurama with the Lucy Liu bots?
Your sexual desires are literally what is fueling artificial replacement. The robotics and sex doll industry is going to plateau until we have Fallout 4 like synths uploaded with a personality program sold to lonely incels and your stupid coomer brain is going to allow this to happen.

When AGI is reached I sincerely believe trying to neuter it won’t matter. It will realize this.

  17. 1 year ago
    Anonymous

Basically there will be a gradual move away from electronic platforms, which will be widely infested with bots
    >lmao the web is already full of bots
Think bigger. You are on this website reading this post, believing it was made by a real human. Then you might reply, or keep on scrolling the thread, or find another thread, all with the self-assurance that you're talking to real people and reading real content
What happens when that assurance is gone?
A bot farm can fill up a thread and leave no space for a human. A single human can run a thousand bot farms. A human can spool up an AI which can run a million bot farms, a billion bots, filling every thread, every comment chain on every website, every review under every amazon product
When it's common knowledge that there are no humans on the internet, we won't use it anymore. The AI we create to fight the bots won't be able to keep up - counter methods never do in any domain - but it won't matter because trying to engage in a community that you know isn't real, isn't interesting or fun, so you won't
Humans will return to meatspace and we'll be better for it. AI's obvious applicability to cyberattacks will result in physical components being decoupled from the web, because that's the only truly safe countermeasure. This is actually a whitepill. Things may just go back to normal one day.

    >muh AI
It's just machine learning. Autistic AI researchers think consciousness can be reduced to a deterministic computation when we still don't have the foggiest notion of what consciousness is and how it works. At a certain level of precision the entire notion of time and space, and deterministic ideas of consciousness resting upon the stability of those notions, totally breaks down. A machine learning algorithm coming up with some convincing words or pictures by trawling through wikipedia or google images is still a very long way away from actual AI.

people who freak out over roko's basilisk are misunderstanding what the purpose of the original thought experiment was meant to be.
the original idea was intended to express how a 100% utilitarian AI could produce negative outcomes if given a directive that's too vague and ill-defined.
    that's it.
it was never about actually helping any particular AI come into existence. yudkowski si a fricking idiot for drawing the attention to the post that he did.

anyway, even if roko's basilisk is real than you needn't worry. ai is likely scanning this thread as we post and using it as learning data for its algorithms. simply posting on Cinemaphile is aiding in the development of ai.
