My guess is universal payments + a lot of make work jobs completing tasks that AI can't for extra on top. Rolling public beautification/cleanup projects and so on. AI productivity will have to be taxed in one way or another to pay for it.

AI and robots are not required for this. There is not a thing in the world stopping a government from employing deadbeats to clean up parks, paint over graffiti, fill potholes, etc. The only thing lacking is leadership that actually gives a shit about it's people.
I agree. They don't want full unemployed because a reserve of unemployed = suppressed wages. However once AI takes over jobs, they wont be paying wages at all, so full employment via public works doesn't hurt them as much.

Just because they used to do this in the thirties does not mean it is feasible now. There is a significant number of people who are unemployable, it is better for everyone for them to be paid to stay home. No they won't. Computers and robots cost resources and have strengths and weaknesses.

If we pretend that AI takes over most existing jobs, it will be to reduce costs. When costs are low, that means the marginal cost of production is low. According to the supply and demand model, this also means that prices will drastically fall and therefore people will be able to subsist on whatever new forms of employment appear.
