Are we seriously supposed to believe a group of women could actually get anything done?

Fantastic movie. And don't fricking do the whole "le woman so bad" shit. This movie came out around that all female ghostbusters flick and I was surprised the basically all female cast wasn't a major selling point in the trailers or on social media for this film. Mad respect to the people in the marketing team for that.

The acting was terrible though. Great concept and music, it was let down by terrible women actors. Jennifer Jason Leigh sounded like she didn't even want to be there while filming.

The novel Annihilation is a copy and paste of Roadside Picnic.
The sequel Authority is a copy and paste of Snail On The Slope.

I have no idea how people get away with these things.

Yeah the "shimmer" is basically the "zone" from roadside picnic and stalker. They could have made a movie out of roadside picnic instead since all the adaptions are currently different from the source

        >Jennifer Jason Leigh sounded like she didn't even want to be there
Her character had given up on life. Would you prefer she be more bubbly and energetic?

this movie is corny. idk why modern directors like Alex Garland can’t help but inject all this self-aware insincere pseudo intellectual shit into their work instead of just committing to the fiction they’re creating. I did like parts of this movie tho, the body horror is great, the found footage part with the men was fricking hilarious and a funny contrast between how the women reacted to what happens in the bubble (aka they each confront it in their own personal, individual way) vs the men (get together and hype each other up and literally experiment by cutting a dude open)

In the book they send several groups of only men and men and women and all fail, this is why they choose to send only women to see what happens.

Get fricked, OP. They successfully made a movie with female empowerment without talking down to the audience.
