No, but here’s one about Pizarro and Atahualpa.
https://tubitv.com/movies/502466/royal-hunt-of-the-sun
there was a whole autobiography by a conquistador who was there for all of that. Fun fact: he confirmed the existence of giant bones and sent them back to spain
Bernal Diaz? It's honestly the greatest nonfiction story I've ever read, even with the repetitive descriptions
yeah bernal diaz journal fricking rules.
can you recc any other good nonfiction reads such as this? So far I read the anabasis of cyrus, diary of a napoleonic foot soldier, chronicle of the narvaez expedition but it just doesn't hit the same
Bernal was just a cool dude with a good sense of humor, not a lot of people like him. I like to imagine we’d have been frens
Fun fact: It is speculated among some historians here in Tacoland that Bernal Diaz didn't exist and the History of the Conquest of the New Spain was actually written by Cortes himself under a pen name.
It's a little too critical of Cortes for that
I don't know whether to feel bad for Moctezuma or admonish him for incompetence.
>inb4 he thought they were gods and thats why he put up with it
Not true at all beyond maybe the initial encounter. But Moctezuma would have been totally in the dark about the true capabilities of the Spanish from Cortes' party alone and would have reason enough to believe they were a bigger empire than his. But that still doesn't excuse his near total inaction while acortes ransacked his capital
They did think they might be the descendants of gods, but that isn’t that crazy when most tribes believe they’re descended from some sort of folk hero demigod. So to go oh the Spaniards might be the descendants of that god who left and said he’d be back. Oh well I’m the emperor so the same applies to me, maybe we can find common ground there. There was actually an instance where Montezuma sort of suggested they were cousins and the Spaniards thought it was really funny and were basically like
>haha yeah maybe maybe
>>inb4 he thought they were gods and thats why he put up with it
It's more that he was using them to prop up his own god mythos. The aztec ruling class were a different race to their subjects.
>The aztec ruling class were a different race to their subjects.
That's true of all civilizations, including the one you and I live in now
>including the one you and I live in now
Nah, those are a different species (nonhuman)
Reptilians?
Yeah, that's one name for them
Apocalypto
Thanks to these 2 morons latinx mutts were born
unfortunately, history is far too kino for Hollywood to produce any good material from it. It's le heckin racist and problematic, chud
I've never achieved to get a convincing morrion helmet with Stable Diffusion
How brainwashed against your own culture do you need to be to be white and side with the natives on this
for me it's this kino
Conquistadors were so fricking kino. Imagine sailing around with your bros finding new worlds and civilizations. Just annihilating weirdo natives they must have seemed like a whole different species.
I'd call it anything but comfy. Imagine stumbling upon an empire of 20 million bizarre mud-farmer-warrior caste men with insanely elaborate death cult religious upper class and having to play different city states against each other to capture a floating city while keeping their god-king capitve and try to use him as a puppet to command your wishes. It is kino but Cortez must have been stressed to no end.
Sounds like apocalypse now but IRL and in the 1500's
Someone's never been to Romania I see
Literally the show called Cortes on Amazon
you really can't make a good movie or doc about this without constant WHITE PEOPLE BAD and IMPERIALIST CHRISTIAN CHUDS to show that you are so sorry for the poor natives
Apocalypto did that
Apocalypto was directed by a fricking shitstian cryptofascist
there is a reason he's blocklisted in Hollywood, you know
>cryptofascist
you say that like its a bad thing.
frick the aztecs
anything to do with them is creepy as frick thanks to that broken sword game
i would love to make an 8 part series on this. the true stories themselves have such drama
escape from hispania
burning of the ships
romance of malina
entrance to tenochitlan
vengeance of velasquez
alvarado moron moment
noche triste
siege
i would have it framed inside the legal proceedings 10 or so years later, where the major conquisidors began sueing each other for stolen profits and tax evasion
Yes but somehow anons still don't know.
Peppe has got you senpai
