It was goddamn heartbreaking. Gardocki got fricked over harder than anyone I've ever seen in television and film. "YOU'RE GODDAMN... SORRY?!" his acting chops really shined towards the end. Wish they utilized him more.

        Anonymous

Cry? No. Thought it was fricking awesome? Yes.

I've liked Chiklis since the old 'Commish' days, (good little show for its era), so loved seeing him deliver such a groundbreaking performance. Chiklis as Mackey is just simply one of the best TV characters period. The scene in the interrogation room and the camera was as awesome as it TV gets. Then the ambiguity of the final scene was icing on the cake. Bloody brilliant.

Shows what a missed opportunity it was to cast him in 'Fantastic Four' and not have the script put him to good use. That guy can fricking deliver. God I love that 'space mountain' line.

Gardocki's character brought to the foreground was one of my favourite developments. In a lot of ways, though it doesn't seem like it, he's even more of a scumbag than the others.

I didn't realise it watching it the first time, but I read the observation that every single cop in the show is corrupt in their own way, whether it's that malingering shithead with the vending machines, Aceveda with his political ambitions, or even Wagenbach with his tendencies toward women and very real ambiguous possibility he might not have just killed cats.

Great fiction to have been developed from the IRL Rampart Scandal.

Literally the first episode establishes that the show is anything but formulaic.
Everything is a product of its time. When The Shield aired, it was breaking conventions of the police procedural genre. Now it has so many imitators that it seems formulaic to brainlets like you.

Too bad it came out the same year as the wire, and where the shield was "breaking conventions" for the sake of being as edgy as FX would allow, the wire broke them to serve a larger thesis.

I'm watching the 1st season of The Wire and I just got done watching the episode where DeAngelo teaches the younger kids chess. I was blown away! I had to watch it a couple times to really pick up on it, but did you guys realize that when he was teaching them about the chess pieces, he was really referring to THEM being the pawns! What an amazing metaphor!

It was so deep and meaningful, I am amazed by the deep symbolism of this.

Do the later seasons continue on with masterful symbolism like this? This was truly the pinnacle of storytelling that I have ever seen on a television show, and I think I can confidently say The Wire is the best show ever made without even having seen the entire series.

Also the acting is amazing. Idris Elba and Dominic West do a great job with their Baltimore accents.

He is not teary-eyed over pictures of his family because he blames the feds for sitting him behind the desk. It's just your autism and bias spilling out into the thread to make the character seem stupider than he is. Sorry bud.

If he at least had some sort of boundaries to eventually cross I would agree, but he doesn't have any, he murders a cop in cold blood in the very first episode.
It would've been a good downward arc if he was only SLIGHTLY dirty at first (like framing and torturing criminals) and he gradually worsens until he crosses the line and kills a cop, but he was always the same

I heard that they were finally allowed to use one "frick" in the finale and they wanted to give it to Claudette when she confronts Vic, but then they decided it was out of character and didn't use it

it would have been out of character, so good call there. Could have given it to Ronnie when he was being arrested.

FX did start letting their shows use "frick" later on. I think The People vs OJ was the first.

Borrowed the boxset from a friend 13 years ago and watched everything except the last season. Honestly can't remember a single memorable scene from the whole thing

Sometimes I wish the show had just been about them, male/female partnerships in shows like these are usually fricking garbage but this one worked so well. Dutch going apeshit on that Hispanic who tried to kill Claudette for that killclock thing was great, took the whole fricking Barn to pull him off

His fate is one worse than death. Especially if Antwon gets ahold of him.

I remember many years ago Kurt Sutter said he would do a sequel based on Ronnie because he will have to join Aryan faction in the prison to stay alive.
Maybe he does not do it because he can not write his ugly prostitute wife into a part haha

i have very mixed feelings about sutter doing anything t b h.
tho i find it probable that there are jails made especially for cops, because even america cant be so stupid as to not recognize that this would be almost a death sentence otherwise.

            Same haha
I actually liked Executioner because it is very novel to have a medieval wales
He can stick mexican sons of anarchy up his ass however I think he has lost it.
The fate of Ronnie as others have said in this thread is horrific (the blonde guy too whose name I forget). He should just leave the imagining of that fate to the imagination the same as he left Vics fate to the imagination.

That actually would have been kino but in reality, he was probably put far away from reach of the people him and the strike team put in the slammer. Was most likely put up in some fed prison removed from general population. Still, he's getting life.

          yea
but mara was annoying as frick

Say what you want about Mara, but she loved Shane with all of her heart and never actively betrayed him and did everything she could for him until the very end. She truly loved him and he loved her more than life itself. Vic lost all of that and he will die a very sad and lonely man. At least shane went out on his own terms.

Justified is a bit more cartoony and less realistic. Basically a modern day western.
