Are any other blackanons tired of hearing this guy's voice? Every time I see black character in a cartoon 90's or 2000's, There's 95% that they're either voiced by him or cree summer. I'm not saying he's a bad voice actor, not at all. He has such diverse range but he's definitely overused, and it just makes the casting directors seem lazy and shallow when they needed to find a voice for a black character and just immediately considered phil lamarr.

I think I'm more tired of Kevin Michael Richardson. I love me some Principal Lewis though.
Ironically all three have voiced white people and Asians too, so it’s not even just black character affected.
I mean really, His voice just annoys me. He has the tough black guy voice and the black kid/teen voice, it's like a really dull cheese grater scraping my ears at this point.
That's different because reasons. Like how any Asian can voice any other kind of Asian despite those countries all hating each other and some of them being actually underrepresented.
Or how they got a Cuban to voice a Mexican character on The Simpsons and claimed they were being progressive.
Yeah frick this guy
God I wish G:KND got greenlit
But I thought it did
Ah yes, I remember when him and Erin Fitzgerald made asses of themselves out twitter. Good times.
On twitter*
I’d frick Erin silly but holy shit yeah.
strange
I wonder what happened between 2016 and 2020 to make him act like this?
I would guess the voice actor union took a toll on him or Erin Fitzgerald threatened to black list him if he didn’t say anything.
His overlords told him to.
Got he a dick up his ass and found out that he liked it.
He sounds like he's been hounded by people online and just had enough. This started because of that Apu thing and white VA's being replaced or allowing themselves to be replaced by VA's that share the same ethnicity as the character they're playing. So then people looked at Phil and wondered why he was able to continue voicing Jack. And that's threatening a role he probably really likes as well as keeping him from getting money. How would you feel if people on twitter and reddit messed with your money?
>How would you feel if people on twitter and reddit messed with your money?
I would just say I think it's stupid to replace ANY voice actor because of their race and leave it at that instead of going on a dumb rant and exposing myself as a hypocrite.
It was already happening and he would be talking about employers and coworkers. So he's just focusing on himself and wanting people to leave him out of it. I wouldn't be so confrontational but that's me. I completely understand anyone getting annoyed when their livelihood is threatened by dumb politics. Doesn't matter what the context or job is, people will defend getting money and will get angry over it. I've seen people flip out over less.
>So he's just focusing on himself
Yes, he's a selfish hypocrite, I know, that's the issue.
I don't believe he is an hypocrite; the message on twitter is him saying
>I doesn't feel weird to represent other races, genders, and even species, because I am acting"
and the one twitter says
>It's not the same to say that minorities get less roles and are stolen of chances to voice characters on situations in which minorities are voices by majorities, as it is to say that a person can't act as another race
You can disagree with him, you can think it's not relevant, but it's no inherently hypocritical comment.
This! You morons are just racist towards black people.
I have no drive for money as much as having something to do until I die.
Pretty much all of Hollywood had TDS.
He saw people trying to use him to argue against hiring minority voice actors and got angry about people trying to make him into the house Black person voice actor.
This. White people should not be voicing minorities.
I guarantee he doesn't actually give a shit if a white guy were to play a person of color, he's saving face because he knows if a large twitter mob finally put one and two together that they would cancel his ass for playing a Japanese guy with a stereotypical accent, just like with Hank Azaria and Apu.
The worst thing you can do as a voice actor in today is to play a character that isn't your race exception being POC playing white characters, this is quadrupoled if you use any kind of accent that isn't your own or a white accent.
Greg Eagles the voice of Grim got in trouble because people decided that a non Jamaican black doing a jamaican accent is offensive.
>The worst thing you can do as a voice actor in today is to play a character that isn't your race exception being POC playing white characters,
You seriously weren't here for "POC character playing white is le hecking whitewashing"?
They fricking hate when a POC voices a white because it means whitewashing and erasing black voices.
You didn't saw when Kratos got accused of whitewashing because he wasn't black while Christopher Judge, his va, was?
Kratos has always been voiced by a black man, even in the original trilogy.
And Azaria voiced Apu since the first ep.
Doesn't matter.
what an ignorant man, hypocritical to the bone
I thought I was literally the only one who's sick of him, THANK you, he seems really nice but sheeeesh. He's a great Joker though.
I'm a little ashamed to admit that I am disappointed and can't help but think of when I hear his voice in a cartoon these days. The amount of sheer dissonance between that statement and his own career, as well as the greater implications of this dubbing practice is astounding.
No, I love Phil Lamar's voice and his range is so great I can hardly point him out
but I do not love Phil Lamar
SLAP SLAP SLAP
CLAP CLAP CLAP
He was replaced in the Proud Family reboot in favor of a real gay actor.
Karmas a b***h.
Even more irony considering the character was implied to be straight or at the least bi in the original series.
Once any writer gets hint of gay, they will turn them into a full blown gay.
Honestly the revival version is so different from the original, they should have just been separate characters. Or just recast Sticky if they needed the token male friend that badly.
>blackanons
>literal who
go back
How is Phil LaMarr a literal who in terms of cartoon voice acting?
frick off zoomer
>Voice of static, samurai jack, john Stewart.
>Literal who
I think you're the one who needs to go back.
I'm more tired of Kevin Michael Richardson.
how could you possibly get tired of an obese black man's voice?
The thing with him though is that the man actually has got great range, but he's type cast all the time.
>Youn Justice: Aqualad,Brick,Black Manta,Black Lightning,Robotman, additional voices
Did they only have the budget for 1 black male VA?
You only really need one realistically.
He voices all the deep voiced characters in that show that aren't Batman.
Ironically he didn't reprise his role as Cyborg.
I’ve considered taking up a voice acting career because I’m tired of hearing the same like 2 homies voices in literally everything.
>any other blackanons
Trump recieved record numbers of minority votes for a Republican, but still had less minoity votes overall than Biden. Biden won the black vote nationwide, the Hispanic vote, the Asian vote, the LGBT vote, the Native American vote, and I think even won the woman vote. Trump won the Cuban vote though.
heh yeah, need more JB Smoove & Ron Funches
I'm a Kevin Michael Richardson fan myself
You call yourself a fan, but I see no Barney Fricking Rubble. I love his version of Barney since he based it on the original voice Mel Blanc did.
I was going to use a Flintstones on the Rocks clip, but that's hard to find.
the most underrated Joker
That Joker was just weird
What the frick, he voiced Jabba?!
He's aids.
ON YOUR KNEES
TASTE THE BLADE OF OSHTEKK
I GROW STRONGER
I'm not tired of him at all.
I honestly don't mind because he's just that good. Heard him once in a really low budget Afro Samurai game. Also, it's kinda cool to see him in more live action stuff.
I keep forgetting he was MadTV. Seems like most people on that show ended up in the VA business.
Not surprising, MadTV had great characters and voice acting really calls for over the top acting
wasn't he shot in the head inside a car in 1994?
I'm a whiteanon, but I agree. I wouldn't mind some new black voice actors getting more roles. Anime English dubs in the last decade have been getting more black voice actors to play their characters. The One Punch Man and Jojo's Bizzare Adventure dubs have a few black actors, and the Dragon Ball Super dub had lots of black actors for the Jiren tournament.
