Are his Bond chances over?

>hasn't ever led a film on his own since Kick-Ass
>98 percent of people don't know who he is
>Bullet Train flopped
>Fall Guy flopped
>Kraven will bomb big time and ruin his leading man ambitions forever

Do you think Kraven bombing will end his Bond chances or are all of these irrelevant points?

Just retire the character until the AI gets good enough to just make endless Pierce Brosnan movies.

why would any of that matter? What was daniel craig in before he was cast as bond?

This. OP knows nothing about the Bond casting process. ATJ could star in bomb after bomb and it still wouldn't matter. Craig was C-list AT BEST and his movies still made billions despite being garbage. Bond is bigger than any actor. I am with the leaker on this one. He's the new Bond and they're waiting until the Fall to announce it. Apparently, it plays into Kraven being delayed as Sony knows he's been cast as Bond and wants to push the movie after the announcement to bait people BC of the new Bond being in it.

I was thinking this the other day too. After Morbius and Madame Web, they'll try anything they can to make sure Kraven doesn't also bomb.

I'm really baffled at how Universal didn't feature him more in the promo for Fall Guy seeing as it released right after the Bond rumours. It would've made more people see it.

also what was Pierce Brosnan in before being cast as Bond? Fricking Mrs. Doubtfire and Lawnmower Man

Pierce is different. He was cast as Bond in 1987 but was fricked out by NBC israelites who wanted him to continue Remington Steele. So, in fairness, he had the Bond role before those movies.

Craig was in Layer Cake which was why they cast him

Layer Cake was a small Guy Ritchie knockoff that didn't get as much buzz as people think it did. It was a B-tier movie at best. It didn't even make much. It only got notoriety as the movie that made Barbara cast Craig. That's it. It's a pretty mediocre and juvenile movie on it's own.

Yeah but it was enough. This guy doesn't have his Layer Cake role. His best performance was playing a Redneck rapist.

Bullet Train released right before his name was mentioned for Bond for the first time ever. That movie is his Layer Cake.

It's basically an open secret that he's the new Bond. Have you noticed the media doesn't even really speculate about it?

      >Tomb Raider
      >Road to Perdition
      >Layer Cake (don't discount it, it was important to his career)
      >Munich
      >Infamous
Let's not go overboard though. This is far from an insignificant filmography. Probably the main difference between him and Kick-Ass is that Craig was more established in Britain than Hollywood.

I'd argue Aaron has a way bigger name than Craig did at his time of casting. Worlds apart. Craig was a character actor with bit parts here and there. You didn't notice him and certainly didn't know his name. ATJ is way different than that. Most people may not recall him immediately but they remember his movies. He also got a Golden Globe.
        >It's an open secret that he's the new Bond.
This is true but I wonder what his thought process is. Does he think he can do Bond and other stuff like Nocturnal Animals on the side or is he going all in on being an action star?

          Anonymous

No doubt, that's why I mentioned Craig's being more prominent domestically. ATJ has been working on his breakthrough in Hollywood for at least a decade. He doesn't seem to care about anything else. Hell, do most people even aware that he's British? Anyway, as

This. OP knows nothing about the Bond casting process. ATJ could star in bomb after bomb and it still wouldn't matter. pointed out fame is not a primary factor for being chosen as Bond, it's convincing Barbara Broccoli that you're the man for the job and willing to commit. The point is Craig was hardly an unknown commodity back then despite not having a strong presence overseas. In this sense Broccoli might have even been more familiar with Craig as she is with ATJ now.

          > Does he think he can do Bond and other stuff like Nocturnal Animals
I don't see why not, Craig also had time to do stuff like Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Cowboys&Aliens or Logan Lucky between Bond movies.

The difference is that Aaron is very much a classically Bondian actor with brown hair and a classic face and body shape while Craig was, and still is, a wild miscast. I still can't believe it. 20 years later.

            >British
            >young and energetic

the movies are most likely going to be shit but the choice of actor is sound on Barbara's part. Neal Purvis and Wade returning to write is a bad sign, though.

Does anyone even care about Bond anymore. Everything that made him unique or popular - classic Cold War espionage, womanizing, gadgets, exotic settings, weirdo villains - none of these exist anymore. It's all about how he's a broken man due to toxix masculinity or corrupt authorities or some shit.

He's the best "actor" since Dalton and even looks like his son or grandson. Though, I could say the same with Pierce. He really looks like a young late millennial descendant of those two. I like it.

This. No one liked No Time To Die and it was COVID era but it still made 800m. Bond is anything but a dead franchise. If they make as least as possible pozzed Bond 26, they'd crack a billion no problem. But Barbara can't help herself.
