That's one of the reasons NYC smells like garbage and has trash and rats in the streets. There aren't alleyways where garbage can be collected the way other cities have because the city wasn't designed for it.
if you're from california, then you probably also see those houses at the beach where the garage is on the opposite side from the front door.
king of the hill is the same thing, but they actually have frickin yards.
My driveway is in the back and at least once a month I catch some methhead thinking he can sit there and smoke because he's out of sight. At this point I just spray them with the hose and pretend I didn't see them, as they freak out and act like they'll call a cop.
Not just in Texas.
>Are alleys a real thing?
Yes.
Alleys aren't just for garbage trucks, you know.
live in California, never encountered this. Garbage trucks pick up your cans from the front of the house
having a back alley for it sounds way more efficient

It probably dates back to when "The Help" wasn't allowed to use front doors.
Texas here.
Trash and recycling are int the back bulk trash is in the front.

Paved back alleys exist, and are a big thing in older cities like Baltimore. It's usually where you drop your trash off and where it gets collected.
imagine making two streets instead of one and paving more grass for no reason
I lived in a neighborhood in North Texas basically identical to the one in King of the Hill. Yes, they are really like that.

There's two streets like this in my Michigan city, it wasn't popular design I guess
What's with that bit of fence blocking off the front yard from the back yard
That just seems inconvenient
Security
good fences make good neighbors
yeah
Just use google maps and look up a random city in Texas
Yes
