      live in California, never encountered this. Garbage trucks pick up your cans from the front of the house

        That's one of the reasons NYC smells like garbage and has trash and rats in the streets. There aren't alleyways where garbage can be collected the way other cities have because the city wasn't designed for it.

        if you're from california, then you probably also see those houses at the beach where the garage is on the opposite side from the front door.
        king of the hill is the same thing, but they actually have frickin yards.

    Paved back alleys exist, and are a big thing in older cities like Baltimore. It's usually where you drop your trash off and where it gets collected.

    My driveway is in the back and at least once a month I catch some methhead thinking he can sit there and smoke because he's out of sight. At this point I just spray them with the hose and pretend I didn't see them, as they freak out and act like they'll call a cop.
