First one is one of the best MCU films by far. Lots of depth and kick ass action.
Second one kinda sucks outside being a commentary with the government trying to get his iron man suit.
Third is a good commentary on the war on terror like the first one, that era of the MCU did a lot of commentary about real world politics and American actions with Edward snowden. I like the Maderin twist for this reason but I understand why people hate it.

Now that I'm refreshed on Iron man 2, it had the stuff about drones and escalation.

If we’re talking positives 2 had War Machine and the HAMMER Drones. Justin Hammer was the better antagonist. 3 gets a bad rap for the Mandarin twist, but I appreciate trying to do cool stuff with Tony out of the suit. The weakest part of 3 in my opinion was the kid

I honestly don't understand why characters like him couldn't reappear more often, I mean, the guy is a military man and has an Iron Man armor, call me crazy but it's the first thing I would send to fight against terrorists and Hydra agents before calling every avenger as a whole

Mandarin twist wouldn't have been fine had they not made the "real" Mandarin the boring ass Extremis dude for no reason

It would have been better if it was the true mandarin at all, with the true ten rings and all.

Iron Man had the coolest suitups. Then they had to nanotech everything.
They have to get rid of that shit going forward.

The nanotech things baffles me. The two first iron man movies + avengers tried to make the armor believable to the viewers, even showing the "innards" of Mark 2 in the second film.
But after Iron man 3, they completely give up on this philosophy, and it ends with nanotech magic.

I actually like Iron Man 3, unlike most people, but it's been a good while since I watched it.
Like the other anon said, I get the point of the Mandarin twist but I think it's horribly let down by
    >Ben Kingsley doing his wienerney comic routine for the immediate point of the reveal
    >the aftermath of the reveal being that Guy Pearce's Aldrich Killian was the true big bad all along, and him being a really lame big bad and an even lame final antagonist who jobs instantly to a neon-orange Gwyneth Paltrow
    >the simple fact that Kingsley's Mandarin pre-reveal is actually a really cool modern adaptation of the villain that everyone liked and would have 100% worked had they played it straight

The 2nd one is shit. I tried to do an MCU marathon, that movie and Hulk back to back made stop. Both so fricking boring.

To each their own, I guess. The Incredible Hulk is one of my favorite MCU movies

    >First is good all around.
    >Second is flawed, but it has Justin Hammer who is one of the best antagonists in a Marvel film
    >Third might have the most interesting political message out of all the Marvel movies, but it sucks outside of that.

I love Iron Man 3, but as a Shane Black movie. You can watch it along Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys, and it's seamless, the same tone, same kind of humor, same style of character interactions, just a higher budget for the action.

But it's not a great fit for the MCU.

It's one of those almost perfect movies, three perfect acts in a row
    they should have stopped there

I still hate 3. I legit do not care about the villain switch out, what I do care about is the real villain is dull and on top of all that the script is just a comedy. There isn't a serious moment in that movie that isn't immediately underhanded with a joke. Avengers started the quips, this is what just normalized it.
