That's all you needed. You were far more easily satisfied, you remembered mostly the really good ones. You'll even remember some of the bad ones fondly nowadays due to childhood nostalgia. So to your mind there are approximately 300 good and maybe 200 shit pieces of media, even though the real ratio is 400-600.
Fast forward to this decade. A 1000 pieces of media came out, 250 were good 750 were shit. But you constantly fret over the most critical merits only autists like Roger Ebert would care about before, over whether the writer can endlessly avoid a never ending barrage of nitpicking, over how much political pandering is inserted into the story, over whether the message is something you find valid, over whether it's "dishonest cinematography" or if it's "hacky" or if it sends the franchise into a creative direction or if it's too similar to other shit etc, you've essentially became a perfectionist grouch and for some reason nobody wants to admit this.
