Its more like the writers chose to use Bumblebee and Hasbro HAD to get the name back. As late as 05 they were stuck with being unable to just call him Bumblebee and were still calling him Autobot Bumblebee.
I wish we actually got G1 Bumblebee and not focus tested post-HotRod Chuunibee or Bay puppydogET Bee. In the G1 cartoon there were multiple human tagalongs so not a single one had obnoxious cool kid personality; bumblebee was more humble and sweet than an obnoxious brat.
Hot shot was the best one. Transformers armada was an obsession of mine as a kid. Feels like my dad would come home once a week with a new one for me too. Man I love that guy.
I like Hot Rod, and I didn't dislike G1 Bumblebee at the time, but everything since seems too much like trying to force him, or a character that's his equivalent, into the role of one of the main characters of Transformers.
G1 Bee was fun and seems like the type of guy you'd want to be friends with, Hot Rod I liked because of him being thrust into the role of leader and learning how to be one, and Cheetor was fun to watch because he was more of a teenager than the other two. Animated Bumblebee was good but admittedly a lil annoying

He is just Bay Bumblebee's early years since the movie was a prequel and changed near release. Until RotB comes out and actively shows a different 2000s-present than the older movies, cannot be treated as a new character.
The Baymovies were already soft reboots of themselves anyway. Every sequel hinged over the Transformers first encountering Earth. Literally every one. Truth is Bumblebee was no different in that regard, and even Bee's personality is just Bay movie bumblebee. 4 minutes of G1 homage footage doesn't change that.
Looking back I'm surprised Bumblebee was the one that got the big push. To me Hotrod and Grimlock were always the "child friend" characters. They were there to be the powerful big friend but also kind of on their level, personality wise and intelligence wise, respectively. A shame they didn't get more of a cartoon push.
The only Bee I ever liked was RID15 Bee and that is only because he barely acts like Bumblebee and is more like a 30-something washed up guy clinging to his youth than the usual Bumblebee personality, which makes him funny.
I like Hot Rod because he got legitimate character growth. He wasn’t an Optimus-tier leader, but he still proved his worth, and unlike Optimus, the lines in his era were more blurred.
original bumblebee, yes. not the new hip/ultra badass fighter poised to take leadership, no.
hot rod was cool. he at least 'grew up' and matured in season 3.
yes
Yellow creatin needs to frick off already. So tired of him.
Only half of those are Bumblebees.
Well aware
Hot Shot would have been if they still had the name.
They had it, they just choose Bee over him when they got the name back, that's all.

Obnoxous brat Bumblebee was best Bumblebee one.
Absolutely.

I thought Wheelie was the little yellow guy of season 3
We don't speak his name
Friend find look behind

What about Knightverse Bee?

no idea why they see continuing Bayverse as a worthy investment if people are willing to accept a reboot.

Most are fine but BW Cheetor is my fav, especially his TM2 look and character growth in BM and beyond (this botcon comic)
G1 and animated Bee are alright.
Can't say he was my favourite to begin with. As for Hot Rod and Hotshot....ehhhh? Not much going on with them.
Looking back I'm surprised Bumblebee was the one that got the big push. To me Hotrod and Grimlock were always the "child friend" characters. It surely helped him being kid friendly to the eye, parent friendly to the wallet back in the day, and the nostalgia.
The movie writers just binge watched some G1 episodes and noticed he paired around Spike alot so used him.
