Season 1 is the only one worth watching. 2 is all filler. Things kind of get back on track with season 3, just for 4-6 to all be filler again. Negan is mildly entertaining, but not enough to justify watching the show. I don't know why they dragged their feet with so much filler. There were already 100 issues of the comics when the show started. They had plenty of source material to work with.
They slashed the budget pretty hard after S1 so they couldn't afford to have that many zombies so the zombies became irrelevant and it was all relationship drama.
the post-prison to terminus arc was easily the peak of the show
The first episode of season 5 culminates with the group reuniting and destroying the cannibal community of Terminus. It's a pretty good series finale if you don't know some of the cannibals survive to be a minor threat for two episodes. Then there's season 6 episode 9 where they wipe out the horde threatening Alexandria and sort of first meet the Saviors. It's their last big victory before it all goes to shit and Negan becomes a major part of the story.
I waited til part of the way into the last season before giving up. It is not worth starting. Every good season is sandwiched between 2 shit seasons. So either the beginning of a plotline is amazing and the finish to it sucks, or the start of one is stupid but ends up having a solid conclusion. Also:

Samurai sword Black person was a big part of why I dropped the show in season three. I could tell that they were setting her up for a major role but she was just unbearable to watch onscreen. Not just the samurai sword shit either, the b***h was uglier than the zombies she was killing
Michonne just feels like too much of a comic book character. The show developed a different kind of tone than the comics, trying to take itself more seriously as a drama, and a woman with a samurai sword with pet walkers on chain leashes just clashes with everyone else being pretty normal

Fear the Walking Dead had the distinction of doing a shitty power plant melting down plotline the same time as Chernobyl was airing. It ends with the group flying away on a hot air balloon shaped like a beer bottle. It's eventually followed up with a cool storyline where a doomsday cult nukes Texas and then they do Walking Dead STALKER for a little, but FRICK is a slog getting through the lows.

First episode. or anything after season two is just a repeat of the previous seasons theme. White people are the living, and all the zombies are the endless hordes of illegal immigrants they keep shipping to white countries. Nowhere you go will ever be safe for long, you either get overrun by the illegals wanting where you live or some other white people (Jews) want control of everything and immediately start violence against you.
It is easiest to see that they are israeli in season 8? where they had the "Whisperers" who walked amongst the zombies unfettered by wearing zombie masks.
The other races one the show amongst the living were all "token" versions of their race of people. token black guy, token asian guy, token whatever.
They finally caught on to this meaning in the studio side of it around season 4 or 5 depending on how you look at it. But they started erasing all the characters that were easily liked and had backstory for people who couldn't survive a week in a real situation such as the show presents. The b***h with dyed hair. Really? 3 years into an apocalypse and this b***h is snitching for hair dye and then spends the hours to apply it to get that great purple and green colors, all while weighing around 300lbs in the third year after a fricking apocalypse. Or the 400lb hambeast who was in charge of food in Arlington. Aint no way the other survivors letting someone with no more skill than eating constantly have that duty- not ever. Or Tiger guy, no offense, but do you know how much meat a tiger requires to eat? 50-80lbs a week of fresh meat. Negan became a giant pussy once they stuck him in a jail cell for a month.... the list goes on forever.
So yeah, anything after the first season is shit. even the governor story line, that was when I just went, frick this to the show but I wanted something running in the background while I worked at the computer.

The thing that makes me sad is that Beth ultimately died for pretty much nothing. Her death saved Noah’s life but he got eaten and died screaming a few episodes later without doing a single fricking thing.
I do agree, the whole adventure of Beth and Daryl was a fun one for me. I have nostalgic memories of watching certain episodes and arcs of the show with my friends and my dad and that arc is one of them. Our home was decorated with Halloween decorations and I really loved the entire mood of watching the new episodes of TWD as they came out in October.
For some reason that arc and era of Walking Dead is very nostalgic to me too. I remember getting day drunk and washing dishes in my apartment while listening to Be Good. I almost feel like I was watching the season 4 episodes as a catchup in Spring 2015 after Season 5 aired. Because I remember playing Bloodborne too.

I started the show last year in january, so its been almost 2 years. I loved 1-3 seasons, they were good. I started to get repulsed and bothered a lot in the negan era because of how it was so hammed up for violence and soul crushery without any real pay off.
I saw the glenn dying clips before I started the show so i knew it happened, but it was all so extreme. Rick being in the van and tormented, redhead cigar guy getting killed too. Then the shit with the black chick being a loaded zombie. It was all a bit much. That said, i watched until the new writers showed up in season 6 or 7 and glenn and shit was acting like a clown and I just tapped.
I quit LOST mid season 3.
My mom broke down into tears when Glenn died and I was knew it was likely coming due to the comic. I was teasing her the whole time when the commercials and shit were saying ZOMG SOMEBODY DIES BUT WHO? Makes me think of that South Park episode where Cartman is trying to find his father.

I watched this show religiously until this episode which I just looked up was Season 6 Episode 4. The show had been bad for a while, I'd argue seasons 1 and 2 are the only truly great seasons of Walking Dead, but I was hanging on out of hope. As soon as it was revealed that Morgan learned stick fighting martial arts from this random fatass in the middle of the woods I realised the show was never coming back. It was just stupid. It looked dumb. The writing was bad. The production values had gone to shit. I turned it off mid episode and never went back.
It still makes me sad. It went from appointment TV on the same tier as Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and Mad Men, to completely unwatchable shit. I know people say it gets better but I literally refuse to believe it. Every screenshot or clip I've seen of the show after I stopped watching looks awful. I guess they realised their fanbase were all gore hounds and funko pop loving morons and figured they didn't need to invest in good writing or production anymore.
