Miles is a shonēn hero who trains with mentors and levels up.
    Get used to it.

He got the sword literally out of nowhere. At least the most recent power-up is just him not holding back. The only "training" he did was with his therapist which help him get his ability to see through walls.

      >This is how manga/anime works.

      NOOOOPPPPE

Manga will create new worlds with unique power systems then establish reasonable rules for it. Then they keep building off what they've previously established to explore the full extent of that system. That's the reason why mentors are used in manga so often, because they understand how shit is supposed to work.

      We get how stands work
      We get how Nen works
We get how devil fruits work

Why would spider powers give you the ability to generate and manipulate electricity but not organically create webs or silk? What powers it? How is it controlled?

        >We get how stands work
You get hit by an arrow and gain entirely arbitrary superpowers with zero consistency
        >We get how Nen works
You say “oh my X nen” and then it does whatever you want with zero consistency
        >We get how devil fruits work
You eat an apple and gain a superpower that will later evolve into an unrelated superpower for no reason, with zero consistency, and you have a psychic blast that knocks out anyone with a lower “power level.”

Yep, definitely a call for mentorship…

Leveling up should be the arc for superheroes, instead they’re lame and stay at the same level of power.

Lmao Miles pulls new powers out of his ass constantly, he's not leveling up, the writers just can't think of other ways to make people interested enough to buy his comics.

        Black Hammer
        Coldcast from the JL EXTREME

Volt. The first noticer from irredemable
        Black Lightning's kids.
        Movie version of electro.
        Aqualad Young Justice

        More questionable
        Astro city had Energy Brown.
That doctor from Dead by Daylight
Soul Power and Black vulcan should count.
Huey Freeman with his Black Power Fist.

Coldcast doesn't have electricity powers, Jakeem Thunder nor the Thunderbolt have electricity powers, Storm can indirectly create electricity through her powers, and only one of Black Lightning's kids has electricity powers. Jamie Foxx Electro doesn't count because that's purely due to casting.

Miles at his core is a Spider-Man in a universe where Peter Parker has died, at first he struggles with the idea of living up to Parker's legacy while also navigating his own challenges and responsibilities.

Any competent writer should be able to convey Miles’s own unique perspective and set of experiences to the role, which sets him apart from the original Spider-Man. I mean just look at Miguel. Yet with Miles they fail at every single fricking turn. A huge part of that was bringing him over to 616 IMO. I have no idea why writers are so ASS at writing this niglet.

Did you just skip reading that part? If I was in charge of Miles I would’ve never have brought him over to 616. It’s like taking Miguel out of 2099 to hang out with Peter permanently.

I think a competent writer should lean into the connections and parallels Miles has with Peter. It would not only engender goodwill toward him from fans of Spidey, but also provide a more emotional stake of connection to his plight while paying respect to the person Miles is trying to make proud.
However, they don't do that. Miles isn't trying to make Peter proud, he isn't trying to do right by him. Where in Ultimate it would have been a brotherly relationship and 616 is closer to a father son, as Miles is all Peter's mistakes waiting to happen and Peter is Miles' failure to rise to the Hero's Call waiting to happen again... they don't play with that. They write Miles as an ungrateful parasite who feels he deserves the title for no reason, forgetting he didn't want it in the first place and only assumed it out of guilt while asserting that Peter was Spider-Man, not him. They refuse to let Miles, rightly, be in a position of lesser and importance and one of learning as a student, to embrace a father/son, mentor/student between them. Much like in the second Insomniac game where they're 'equals'... somehow. For no reason at all or logic to speak of.

Because it would look bad in their race politics obsessed eyes, and that is a horrific disservice to something that could genuinely make the character great and bring appeal to genuine fans of Spider-Man.

Just pay respect to the original, and have the legacy respect the original. It wasn't difficult with Terry, it shouldn't be so with Miles.

Especially this. Bringing him into 616 erased that. This is also why his movie counterpart is more popular than the insomniac version.
