Black Americans are a western descended ethnic group. They have zero ties to anything African, including their myths&&legends and this has been the case for centuries now. They're children of the West as much as any current European descended person and an inheritor of its great traditions. They grew up consuming Tolkien-like fantasy worlds just like you did so they're not being forced in to it, it is as much of their identity as it is yours.
Yea it's ridiculous how most American black people are actually hapas themselves, half white and half black, yet all get designated and relegated to 'black'.
It'd be as accurate calling them 'black' as it would be to call them 'white'.
Designated and relegated? They identify themselves as black and even hide their white ancestry dude. They all also have schizo identity issues, being bullied by other blacks for not being black enough, yet will never identify as anything but. Look at Obama, drake, jordan Peele, Earl sweatshirt, Dave Chappelle. It's almost like they have even more issues with white people like their black purity was violated.
So? All the actors in this are Native American or Asian American, who are also Western descended, so why are they being cast in an Asian-inspired world?
so are they covering the entire book 1 for the first season? how many episodes are we getting? 2 seasons per book, 6 in total could be doable and wouldn't have to cut that many things
Like with live action anime:
Redditors want to share these shows with their friends but are scared that, because they are cartoons, people will judge them for liking kid's shows (In this case it actually is a kid's show, but I digress) so they beg studios to make live action adaptions so them liking the show is more socially accepted.
I wanted to see the kid playing aang saying things, like with one piece and iñaki godoy, the mc shown to be charismatic, having chemistry with the rest of the cast is what ultimately will sell the show, if he doesn't work, no amount of amazing fights and great cgi will save it
That's what often happens when indigenous people spend centuries next to much more numerous new people. Are they white? White passing? who knows...
To really get your mind blown, look at how white Australian Aboriginal people can be.
the creators of avatar were also the weak link in the original team. that shit was carried by other writers.
So? All the actors in this are Native American or Asian American, who are also Western descended, so why are they being cast in an Asian-inspired world?
I think his point was that black people had their original language and culture replaced with western ones centuries ago while native and asian americans did not. they adopted those things to varying degrees, but cultural ties are still present.
>while native and asian americans did not
Most Native languages are dead and every Asian American who claims to know Korean knows as much as a White guy who's seen a K-drama.

Additionally, you're factually wrong about less links to Europe since literally the entire point was that all their cultural links have been to Europe for centuries because they were replaced wholesale during the slave trade. No one is talking about genetics.

I forgot about this. There's nothing I can see in the trailer that would make the creators of Legend of Korra quit thoughever.
they quit because Paramount asked them to in order to make their own new Avatar series
Every other shot looked AMAZING but I have to agree that forest shot there looks weird, kind of empty, maybe just bad camera work. Also Iroh isn’t shirtless what the frick!
>It’s very obvious they're on a greenscreen.
Well I didn’t really think they were on a magical flying bison. I didn’t mind that scene, but generally some of the backgrounds do look like CGI: they’re made by “the volume” which is the same technology The Mandalorian uses, so expect all environments to look like that
>Fire Lord Sozin is already established as evil for genociding the air nomads, what else can we do to get it across that he's a bad person? >uhh... we can make him a homophobe?
Didn't Korra spend a whole season trying to suppress an equity movement to maintain the bender supremacy status quo? Idk I didn't finish that piece of shit.
The setting is a gothic haunted castle with ghosts and werewolves and witches making potions and flying on brooms. The main theme of the books is death.
The original series is one of the best pieces of entertainment media ever conceived. It's really wonderful. Everything that came after it, is trash that does everything it can to tarnish the legacy f the original because the original was so good that people spite it. It might sound like I'm joking, but I'm not. Watch the original series in a vacuum and then never ever watch or read any of the garbage that came after.
I'd say Korra is worth it for the villains, but that's not really true. I do find that when people finish ATLA they need Korra to try and rekindle the magic, and it fails, but at least they get Zaheer et al..
Isnt Zaheer like 4 seasons in? Those who dont drop Korra by the Season 2 magic mecha fight finale are either masochists or they are just perving over Korra.
Zaheer is like the morsel of reprieve that viewers who make it past Unavaatu get, yeah. I'm not a fan of Kuvira either, so really you get the one-two punch sandwich on either side of 'peak (using that word extremely generously)' Korra.

Yes but its Ok because the leader was a butthurt bloodbender who didn't actually believe in equality.
Didn't Korra spend a whole season trying to suppress an equity movement to maintain the bender supremacy status quo? Idk I didn't finish that piece of shit.
I will never forgive the writers for the S1 resolution. How the fuck does Amon being a blood bender somehow invalidate the whole social movement? Did those people just give up? Did they become tolerant of their bending superiors because they followed a bloodbender? Where did all the Equalists go and why were they so butthurt about having a bloodbender their leader?

Don't forget that within like a calendar year the Avatar unleashes the spirit world onto Republic City and also functionally creates a caste of Airbender public relations gestapo. That the supposed animosity between nonbenders and the council existed the moment season 1 ended is testament to how little planning went into the show. Compare and contrast to how early every single narrative seed in ATLA itself is placed, as early as the first half of S1 (ignoring Lion Turtles here for conveinence :^)).

The "resolution" for the Equalists is awful and a massive plot hole that never gets readdressed for the rest of the series. That's a common theme of TLOK actually: great ideas with extremely poor execution.
Korra is shit, the only decent episodes are the avatar wan ones and they still shit in the avatar by making him look like a nobody in the spiritual world.
The best thing about Korra is the fact she's a delicious brown musclegirl and all the Rule 34 that spawned. The character herself is an awful person who consistently makes the same mistakes each season and is overall aggressively unlikeable.
I don't want to get my hopes up, but from the trailer you get the sense that they at least vaguely understand how to adapt the aesthetic to live action which is more than what can be said for the Shyamalan movie.
Korra is terribly uneven - a result of the lack of planning compared to ATLA (which is exceptionally well thought-out from the world-building to the character arcs). S1 has a lot of good moments, S3 is great, and there are parts of S4 that I like... but S1 also has a lot of obnoxious stuff, S2 is damned near unwatchable, and S4 also has some really dumb shit.
>The original series is one of the best pieces of entertainment media ever conceived.
No, it's generic and boring. >generic 12 years old characters with predictable arcs >goofy humor >feminism >"if you kill your enemies, they win!" >characters learning new shit in 2 minutes >villain has zero development
Also season 3 is filled with plot-holes.
This cartoon is only praised for nostalgia and MUH WAIFUUU, nothing more.
>"if you kill your enemies, they win!"
tbf that was the last ten episodes and its the bald mon(g)k only >villain has zero development
zuko? azula descent into madness?
It's mostly just above average until the last two episodes of season 1. After that, take the best cartoon you've ever seen and multiply the kino level by 10, and that's AtLA.
co is a children’s cartoon board used 99% by 30-40 year old men with fetishes for the underaged characters. They don’t get a say in what’s kino. Fuck em
I always thought it was interesting that she was voiced by the Mexican girl who played Yue in the live action movie
Not much else to think about when it comes to Asami, since they didn't bother to do anything with the character after season 1
she arguably does nothing of worth for the entire show beyond being a source of income for the main trio. she electrocutes her dad and then is quite literally just sort of 'around' with no justification. varrick rightfully steals her thunder, so by that point shes just a mouthpiece for the future industries. like, what does she do in the entirety of season 2? season 3 she funds the blimp for the airbender recruiting I guess. what a nothing character
I really thought they would build up to her somehow being the one who gets possessed by the dark avatar spirit or whatever the plot of season 2 was, it would've at least been something for her to do and better than the villain in that season who was just a more boring version of the evil waterbender guy from season 1
Unalaq is conceptually one of the best characters that could exist within the Avatar universe. Spiritbender who has grown disdainful of humanity's disrespect for the spirits in the wake of modernization? Adding onto that the retroactive(?) lore of spirits and humans once cohabitating, and wanting to return to the world to that ideal—wherein any actions are necessary to reach such a goal, even facing off against the avatar—you have the makings for an extremely interesting villain. If Korra is the inverse of Aang in temperament, Unalaq would be the inverse of Aang in philosophy. It's literally perfect.
A shame the show is absolute dogshit that makes Unalaq want to join with Vaatu to become a 'Dark Avatar' to bring 10,000 years of darkness for . . . what reason, exactly? The show literally sets you up for expectation that true spiritual balance Unalaq would want would be the rejoining of Vaatu and Raava, but then he just, like, doesn't even consider such an option? What a crock of shit, lmao. Other anon said it perfectly; spirit mecha battle. What a joke.
In the first few episodes of book 2 he seems like he could be an interesting morally grey antagonist but instead they throw that away in favor of making him a mustache twirling, puppy kicking villain. Varrick ended up being a much better villain during that season
Asami was already fucked over by getting cucked by Korra and having her family company be associated with arming the Equalists. Making her the Dark Avatar would have been cheesy.
Pretty much a plot device, but I have to admit I would have liked her to be Korra's love interest since S1 so they could have developed their relationship since the very beginning.
Waterbending is based on Tai Chi.
Firebending is based on Northern Shaolin Kung Fu.
Airbending is based on Baguazhang.
Earthbending is primarily based on Hung Gar (Toph is special since she learned directly from the badgermoles themselves, so her specific style is Southern Praying Mantis).
God this is cringe self insert fantasy. >in a very conservative, traditional world setting where sexist comments were common and females were limited to healing and cook we have openly gay couples. >despite the fact they openly acknowledge it’s a taboo subject every single person they tell is 100% supportive up front oh and it turns out half your family is also secretly gay too >the only ones who are opposed are the limited bad guys that DONT have sympathetic backstories, just the evil mustache twirling ones
Yeah, Last Airbender showed from Sokka's machoism at the start that the S. Tribe was conservative and the N. Tribe was more urban but also sexist. I doubt that shit changed in one lifetime.
>in a very conservative, traditional world setting where sexist comments were common and females were limited to healing and cook we have openly gay couples
wait till anon hears about the prevalence of non-heterosexual gender dynamics in feudal japan, ancient greece and the roman republic; societies that were otherwise pretty strict in regards to gender roles and expectations
the phenomena you describe wasnt that common in the lower classes. degenerate socialites in rome and large cities did crazy shit yes but the towns and villages kept strict traditional mindsets
I think it's notable Ang didn't talk. If the kid doesn't sound like the toon it could bust the whole show. Seems like thoughtful direction but too much CGI.
It must be so disappointing to have your only child be a homosexual. Knowing your bloodline will die out or be claimed by some adopted mongrel who doesn't share your genes.
>Supposed to be loved, named after respected voice actor Mako to push that view >Ends up pulling a George Costanza and turns both his ex-gfs dyke and dies alone >Forced to respectfully nod when Asami and Korra are dykes in front of him in the comics
sozin's war is generally analagous to the imperious conflicts of the mid to late 1800s, manchuria etc., by the return of sozin's comet in ATLA proper the fire nation have technology and weaponry that can be utilised even by non-firebenders. its the industrial revolution in microcosm as spurred on by the war economy of a nation state that can literally forge and operate metal with their bare hands. as that tech spreads you would absolutely expect it to explode across the earth kingdom as it did.
all that being said, the 1920s larp is fucking cringe, but its not like there isn't context for why the time period in question was chosen as justified by the events of the original series
That makes sense but my overall problem is just they confined a majority of the story to the 1920's New York scene. Some of the most interesting parts of avatar were the different cultures and settings but you lose a lot of that in korra.
Netflix shills will tell you these are the same shape.
They will also tell you that a character doesn’t need to look like themselves to be casted properly.
They will also tell you that casting a Stranger Things star’s girlfriend was because she was the best fit for the role.
Since when has the intricacies of face shapes ever played a part in casting? If it's a cute Asian girl character you cast a cute Asian girl actress it doesn't matter if she's not indentical

Uncle Iroh has no interest in sex. Homie just wants to drink tea and play board games
He simped for June immediately
Iroh had a son, died young while iroh besieged Ba Sing Se, capital of the nation of the earth, saddened by the news, he stopped the siege and did not fight against ozai, his brother for the throne of kingdom of fire after the death of their father
iroh can't be gay
>white medieval fantasy
>naggers have to be shoved in and literally coded as european knights or nobels or the material is considered racist
>asian mysticism/fantasy
>no mandate for forced nagger representation at all and no accusation of racism
whites are blacks to asians.
It's because when Asian Americans bitch about representation, producers actually listen.
So? All the actors in this are Native American or Asian American, who are also Western descended, so why are they being cast in an Asian-inspired world?
looks bad. shant be watching
so are they covering the entire book 1 for the first season? how many episodes are we getting? 2 seasons per book, 6 in total could be doable and wouldn't have to cut that many things
Cutting out all the filler, only Book 2 would need 2 full seasons.
I hate aang eyebrows.
I watched this trailer and blurted out, "Why did they make this? Who wants this shit?" lol.
Like with live action anime:
Redditors want to share these shows with their friends but are scared that, because they are cartoons, people will judge them for liking kid's shows (In this case it actually is a kid's show, but I digress) so they beg studios to make live action adaptions so them liking the show is more socially accepted.
I read your post and blurted out, “WOW THIS GUY IS A FUCKING homosexual!” lol.
I wanted to see the kid playing aang saying things, like with one piece and iñaki godoy, the mc shown to be charismatic, having chemistry with the rest of the cast is what ultimately will sell the show, if he doesn't work, no amount of amazing fights and great cgi will save it
looks like that fag bretman rock
Looks bad and why is Sokka so white?
natives are a small minority so finding talent among them is difficult
tbh Aang doesn't look much different from the white kid they cast in the movie either.
That's what often happens when indigenous people spend centuries next to much more numerous new people. Are they white? White passing? who knows...
To really get your mind blown, look at how white Australian Aboriginal people can be.
When I die and go to heaven I want 42 cute hapa gfs
SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
plap plap plap plap material
ZAMN Suki looks like that?
im getting the feeling that none of these people will be able to act
apologize
no
nobody ever told me it could be worse
The netflix one will definitely be slop of the week but in three years expect to see ten hour video essays about how much better Shyamalan's was.
>The netflix one will definitely be slop of the week
You guys said this about One Piece.
The creator of One Piece didn't publicly quit the project.
I forgot about this. There's nothing I can see in the trailer that would make the creators of Legend of Korra quit thoughever.
Netflix probably refused to make Suki gay so the homosexuals who made Legend of Dyke rage quit on them. Based Netflix
>Netflix probably refused to make Suki gay
Haha anon, good one.
the creators of avatar were also the weak link in the original team. that shit was carried by other writers.
I think his point was that black people had their original language and culture replaced with western ones centuries ago while native and asian americans did not. they adopted those things to varying degrees, but cultural ties are still present.
>while native and asian americans did not
Most Native languages are dead and every Asian American who claims to know Korean knows as much as a White guy who's seen a K-drama.
that's a cool retarded exaggeration, but it is still far more than black people without any known links to Africa have.
Blacks have less links to Europe than they have to Africa but that's fine by you, so why does their links to Asia even matter?
I'm just telling you what the other guy meant.
Additionally, you're factually wrong about less links to Europe since literally the entire point was that all their cultural links have been to Europe for centuries because they were replaced wholesale during the slave trade. No one is talking about genetics.
What cultural links?
All of them?
At this point you need to present evidence for how them all having western names, religion and culture is actually derived from Africa. This wasn't even my argument and I'm not interested in entertaining your stupid pantomime further.
If Gordon, Ian and Dallas are Asian names, I don't see why Jamal and Tyrone can't be African names.
Not my problem
They actively reject white history and culture until it's time to rewrite history casting a black guy as Achilles. Not my fault they never wrote any epics or developed written language.
they quit because Paramount asked them to in order to make their own new Avatar series
Cool horseshit bro
The fact that even a fucking Netflix adaptation looks better speaks volumes about how shitty this movie was
Would the original cartoon hold up for an adult? It aired at the same time as Naruto when I was a kid and I was hooked after my nigga Zabuza moved on.
like most cartoons from back then it probably has jokes that kids didn't understand but the parents in the same room could get a chuckle from
>Would the original cartoon hold up for an adult?
Yes
No. I watched for the first time when I was 18 and it sucked.
Yes.
I literally watch it every every other year or so, and I'm 28
Avatar is better than Naruto. Nobody gives a shit about anything in Naruto besides the first few arcs and the very first arc of Shippuden
This shit looks like both Cobra Kai and YT amateur fan movies combined.
Every other shot looked AMAZING but I have to agree that forest shot there looks weird, kind of empty, maybe just bad camera work. Also Iroh isn’t shirtless what the frick!
The shot where they're on Appa also looks weird. It's very obvious they're on a greenscreen.
>It’s very obvious they're on a greenscreen.
Well I didn’t really think they were on a magical flying bison. I didn’t mind that scene, but generally some of the backgrounds do look like CGI: they’re made by “the volume” which is the same technology The Mandalorian uses, so expect all environments to look like that
>some of the backgrounds do look like CGI
Well I didn't really expect them to be real fantasy cities.
See I can be a smarmy reddit retard too.
My point exactly anon. Drop the autism and realize you’re watching fiction. Have fun. Be entertained. Stop being a whiny chud
>Stop being a whiny chud
You were whining before me ITT.
soon guys
I love AI for making nipples' shape visible through clothes a popular thing again. Barely any smut was drawn that way, softcore or hardcore.
i love the fact that toph is actually a slut the fucked alot of men in their younger days
or that fact that Ozai is homophobic and put a restriction around gay pairing in their country
I thought that was sozin?
no, it was sozin
just why
Why aren't they white?
Asians aren't white.
sokka's actor looks fucking weird
whats with the giga jaws on everyone?
some new hollywood trend?
Appa bros… how we feeling?
Bravo Bryan & Mike!
Chuds BTFO
>Fire Lord Sozin is already established as evil for genociding the air nomads, what else can we do to get it across that he's a bad person?
>uhh... we can make him a homophobe?
Kino
>Earth tribe the slowest
>When earth benders can make their own dildos or boobs (sand)
huh?
Didn't Korra spend a whole season trying to suppress an equity movement to maintain the bender supremacy status quo? Idk I didn't finish that piece of shit.
Yes but its Ok because the leader was a butthurt bloodbender who didn't actually believe in equality.
So basically Aang was raped?
is the cartoon actually good or what? i'm not really into "anime" but I like a few.
>inb4 IT'S NOT ANIME HNNNNNNNNNNNGH
It's irrelevant now that the live action is coming.
its worth it for zuko and iroh
It's a cool fantasy world hero's journey if you're into that
what lotr does to medieval fantasy
what harry potter does to gothic horror
what star wars does to science fiction
avatar does to ching chong pagoda roofs and kung fu
>what harry potter does to gothic horror
wut?
The setting is a gothic haunted castle with ghosts and werewolves and witches making potions and flying on brooms. The main theme of the books is death.
None of it is treated with any serious threat though. It's not really horror.
Gothic horror might as well be a shorthand for spooky dark halloweenie.
>evil parasitic face on the back of some guys head lures the main character into the dark depths beneath a castle trying to kill him
>not horror
ok
>defeated by a 12 year old who isn't even scared of him.
>he is afraid of watching cartoons
scum
Those who dont drop Korra by the Season 2 magic mecha fight finale are either masochists or they are just perving over Korra.
for me it's granny toph
Respectable
Nothing calms the relation between two very diverse and vastly unequal groups of people like the sheer destruction and mayhem that one of the two groups is solely responsible.
that's a trans man
Then I am gay as fuck for Korra.
To bad all her children are cunts, especially Suyin.
Zaheer is like the morsel of reprieve that viewers who make it past Unavaatu get, yeah. I'm not a fan of Kuvira either, so really you get the one-two punch sandwich on either side of 'peak (using that word extremely generously)' Korra.
Give me Lin or give me death.
-Official TLOK Villain Tier List-
Amon (pre-S01Ep8) > Zaheer > Kuvira > Anon (post-S01Ep8) > Unalaq >>>>>> Aapa's steaming shit >>>>>>> Unavaatu
No, it's generic and boring.
>generic 12 years old characters with predictable arcs
>goofy humor
>feminism
>"if you kill your enemies, they win!"
>characters learning new shit in 2 minutes
>villain has zero development
Also season 3 is filled with plot-holes.
This cartoon is only praised for nostalgia and MUH WAIFUUU, nothing more.
>This cartoon is only praised for nostalgia and MUH WAIFUUU
Every anime ever.
what would you consider not generic and boring
>"if you kill your enemies, they win!"
tbf that was the last ten episodes and its the bald mon(g)k only
>villain has zero development
zuko? azula descent into madness?
It's mostly just above average until the last two episodes of season 1. After that, take the best cartoon you've ever seen and multiply the kino level by 10, and that's AtLA.
The Last Airbender is great, especially S2. The Legend of Korra is much more of a mixed bag, but I enjoyed it overall too.
Avatar bros, we are SO back.
>check the Cinemaphile thread
>they mostly hate it
it's over?
Why do they hate it? Is it because there are no alphabet characters?
co is a children’s cartoon board used 99% by 30-40 year old men with fetishes for the underaged characters. They don’t get a say in what’s kino. Fuck em
>zuko has an eyebrow
>Sokka/Azula/Zuko looks ugly
>looks like a low-budget Korean fantasy drama
>lotta complaints about the CGI
Please stop raping Avatar. Just stop. Please.
So weird to see zoomers nostalgiafagging.
i never thought about it but Fire nation is the equivalent of the islam
It's Imperial Japan from WWII, you retard.
sexo azula
thoughts
Never seen the cartoon but this looked good. It's got like fire and flying bears and shit.
It’s the Better Avatar. Cameron fags get fucked
Uhhh....minas tirith bros?
looks decent enough
I feel like this show will be a lot of "eh, could be worse"
The lemur's wingspan seems way too short. Looks off.
What are your thoughts on Asami?
I always thought it was interesting that she was voiced by the Mexican girl who played Yue in the live action movie
Not much else to think about when it comes to Asami, since they didn't bother to do anything with the character after season 1
The finally found a use for Asami in the final Season though
>The finally found a use for Asami in the final 4 minutes
Ftfy, they don't even kiss in the show.
she arguably does nothing of worth for the entire show beyond being a source of income for the main trio. she electrocutes her dad and then is quite literally just sort of 'around' with no justification. varrick rightfully steals her thunder, so by that point shes just a mouthpiece for the future industries. like, what does she do in the entirety of season 2? season 3 she funds the blimp for the airbender recruiting I guess. what a nothing character
Unalaq is even more misused than Amon and that's saying something. Once again, TLOK is full of squandered possibilities after introducing great ideas.
Making her the Dark Avatar would have been cheesy.
season 3 is the best season because it's like the fucking legion of doom which is cheesy as hell
Pretty much a plot device, but I have to admit I would have liked her to be Korra's love interest since S1 so they could have developed their relationship since the very beginning.
who would have thought that azula is dating that weird looking kid from Stranger Things
how'd she get a role when she has pics like this on instagram
why don't they vet their child actresses anymore?
oowow
>septum piercing
Uh oh, here come the misogynistic chuds in 3,2,1...
Dude has a literal syndrome
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleidocranial_dysostosis
FUCKING HOW?!
made for bdc
This literally cant be true, can it?
they look very happy together!
I CANT SEE ME LOVING NO-BODY BUT YOUUUUU FOR ALL MY LIFEEE
Dude should play Brock in live action Pokemon
>diverse casting confirmed
Yeah, fuck this shit. Netflix couldn't help themselves, could they? They obviously made everyone black.
no whites
no blacks
no mexicans
no indians
mucking up the waters...
good, keep it that way
I'm pretty sure the earth kingdom are all poos like the fire nation was in the movie
aren't they using kung fu stances for earthbending? they're supposed to be Chinese
Earth Kingdom is most of Asia, not just China. Guru Phatik didn’t really seem Chinese to me. He was obviously Indian
>Guru Phatik didn’t really seem Chinese to me.
He's also not from the Earth Kingdom.
Aang meets him on at the edge of the known world map.
Waterbending is based on Tai Chi.
Firebending is based on Northern Shaolin Kung Fu.
Airbending is based on Baguazhang.
Earthbending is primarily based on Hung Gar (Toph is special since she learned directly from the badgermoles themselves, so her specific style is Southern Praying Mantis).
how do i bang an asian zoomer chick
i live near a college town in CA
i have job an apartment but am antisocial/autistic
also divorced and 36
are you white? then you have a chance.
Beautiful
God this is cringe self insert fantasy.
>in a very conservative, traditional world setting where sexist comments were common and females were limited to healing and cook we have openly gay couples.
>despite the fact they openly acknowledge it’s a taboo subject every single person they tell is 100% supportive up front oh and it turns out half your family is also secretly gay too
>the only ones who are opposed are the limited bad guys that DONT have sympathetic backstories, just the evil mustache twirling ones
Yeah, Last Airbender showed from Sokka's machoism at the start that the S. Tribe was conservative and the N. Tribe was more urban but also sexist. I doubt that shit changed in one lifetime.
I didnt see a single KFC or Basketball court in North Tribe, so Iwouldnt describe it as urban.
>in a very conservative, traditional world setting where sexist comments were common and females were limited to healing and cook we have openly gay couples
wait till anon hears about the prevalence of non-heterosexual gender dynamics in feudal japan, ancient greece and the roman republic; societies that were otherwise pretty strict in regards to gender roles and expectations
Are you saying gay pederasty exists in the Avatarverse? Because gay elites fucking slaves and boys is what all those cultures share.
i mean that too yeah, probably specifically in the fire nation, however
the phenomena you describe wasnt that common in the lower classes. degenerate socialites in rome and large cities did crazy shit yes but the towns and villages kept strict traditional mindsets
not him but you do know it's a retcon of the worlds lore?
I think it's notable Ang didn't talk. If the kid doesn't sound like the toon it could bust the whole show. Seems like thoughtful direction but too much CGI.
So those two are living in a shack in some shithole and they know that Asami is loaded as fuck, right?
It must be so disappointing to have your only child be a homosexual. Knowing your bloodline will die out or be claimed by some adopted mongrel who doesn't share your genes.
>Supposed to be loved, named after respected voice actor Mako to push that view
>Ends up pulling a George Costanza and turns both his ex-gfs dyke and dies alone
>Forced to respectfully nod when Asami and Korra are dykes in front of him in the comics
Kek
Can someone please explain to me why they set Korra in 1920's New York? I still cannot understand why they chose that.
sozin's war is generally analagous to the imperious conflicts of the mid to late 1800s, manchuria etc., by the return of sozin's comet in ATLA proper the fire nation have technology and weaponry that can be utilised even by non-firebenders. its the industrial revolution in microcosm as spurred on by the war economy of a nation state that can literally forge and operate metal with their bare hands. as that tech spreads you would absolutely expect it to explode across the earth kingdom as it did.
all that being said, the 1920s larp is fucking cringe, but its not like there isn't context for why the time period in question was chosen as justified by the events of the original series
That makes sense but my overall problem is just they confined a majority of the story to the 1920's New York scene. Some of the most interesting parts of avatar were the different cultures and settings but you lose a lot of that in korra.
Sorry, I'm not into kids licking an old man's tongue.
Do we have to talk about Korra right now?
racism is making me not look forward to this. i just can't take asians seriously.
animated asians look like white people so they emote a lot and look great. the slanty eyes in this trailer look dead and soulless.
Credit where credit is due. I been saying this is doomed from the beginning but this looks and feels right. I bet it is massively successful. Damn.
19 seconds in and I coomed to the qt sqaw uwu
Unironically too white but at least she’s cute.
Someone photoshop a dick shadow on her face lmao
she's 14 you sick bastard
>Didn’t even give her blue contacts
At least Ty Lee and Suki were done justice. The fire siblings got FUCKED though.
Netflix shills will tell you these are the same shape.
They will also tell you that a character doesn’t need to look like themselves to be casted properly.
They will also tell you that casting a Stranger Things star’s girlfriend was because she was the best fit for the role.
I hate to tell you this but Azula here
looks closer to the round face you circled.
no she doesn't, retard
did your discord put you up to this? you look like a clown
They will also just lie, apparently.
here's your Azula bro
Since when has the intricacies of face shapes ever played a part in casting? If it's a cute Asian girl character you cast a cute Asian girl actress it doesn't matter if she's not indentical
