Because it's practically a miracle that Avatar is good in the first place, trying to make this series good again resulted in numerous failures.

Animation has style that real life can't replicate without actual loads amount of funding. Animated series lets you use a visual style to tell a story and show off scenery and the world and drag out pacing.

    >executives want this to be game of thrones for some weird reason
    >writers wanna cram a shit ton of important moments together with big exposition dumps
    >actors aren’t talented enough to do the martial arts choreography needed for bending

It was always gonna be shit

Avatar was a fluke of all the right people in the right places. Korra, comics and this proved that

The animated series had tons of overtly romantic plot points among kids who are barely teenagers

Yikes dude. Just because you were ugly in high school and no girl ever talked to you doesn't make it weird that people literally going through puberty in a setting where they're alone, want to pair up. It's why in camps and stuff the dormitories are split by gender.

The show created by adults fixated way too much on kids making out. If it was not Nickelodean I would have given them the benefit of the doubt

The original show wasn't a fluke, the writing for the new show was just dogshit. Maybe if it hadn't been made to just milk the property some more, it could've worked, but they just didn't care.

Just like with every bad adaption, it's because they want to change it. They always want to make it their own thing instead of just redoing the original.
And don't get me the shit of "If it is the same it's boring", no one ever has that complain when an adaption is the same, that's only the excuse when an adaption that has changed things bombed. Every anime adaption from a manga has proven that being accurate to the source material(if the source material is popular) is the correct decision 99% of the cases.
The only thing they should change are things depended on the new medium(for example changing a time frame of "6 months" in-universe to 3 years, in order to take the age of the actors into account)

I didn't hate it but it skipped over too many important character moments, not having Aang learn a single other element is stupid, he was already very good by the time they reached the northern water tribe, I guess they're going to rush him learning water and earthbending in the next season

Hated the Katara is a strong independent girl, who needs no master arc. Even the animated series showed that she leveled up because of the training she received in the norther tribe

Everyone naturally improved as the show progressed, except Toph of course, she was pretty much already a master by the time they meet her but yeah I was very unhappy with how Katara was written

The original Atla was to an extent lightning in a bottle. It was the biggest modern long running action cartoon with a serialized plot aimed at an adolescent demographic that still appealed to older age groups. It rivals many of Cartoon Network's best similar shows so it's held in high regard.

This means nothing will ever meet the expectations people have for it, especially for those who remember watching it on TV or were show it by an older sibling. Even Korra which is great in it's own right appeals differently that Atla.

Also it's very unlike the One Piece live action that was decent. OP is a franchise thats been around over a decade with dedicated fanbase and also the live action had some oversight from the author himself. It was set up for success in the face of many anime live action failures.

Does AtLA live action series not involve any of the original creators?

They did but left either early or mid way through both to work on other Avatar projects and because they didn't agree with some of the things going on with the show, they did some writing for the first and 6th episode, the 6th one being the most overall liked

    >Le spirit killing knife
I really don't get what's wrong with having Zhao just blast the moon fish with fire like he did in the cartoon
