Barbie close to a billion

Goddamn. I though it could drop bad, but it doesn't look to be the case. It well very likely make a billion at the global box office.

When some feminazi, dyke, troony and/or one of their SJW white guilt numale closet homosexual lapdogs calls you an "INCEL", " CHUD" or use their generic npc Twitter buzzword insults such as "have sex" or "touch grass", it's because they can't form a coherent thought let alone a counter argument, it's because women are nothing more than three holes which is why even the ugliest, fattest, poorest amongst them can get laid whenever they like.
Withholding sex from men is the only power they have. Without that they have nothing and are nothing but vapid shallow herpes riddled prostitutes who think that sex solves everything because they ride through life on easy mode by using their looks and bodies to get what they want which is why you know a woman created the term " incel" because of this while they're narcissists' who think the universe revolves around them and make everything about themselves therefore if a man expresses his problems she thinks that it's really about her and he's only mad because she won't have sex with him as sex is the only unit of currency women understand and enjoy shaming men who are unattractive, poor or of low social statu.

And the so-called "men" who use those words are even worse because they're virtue signaling numale cucks who think that they'll get some of that sweet college/university hipster chick pussy when those women will be fricking Chad Thunderwiener and only settle for them once they're looking to nest with a beta orbiter provider after they're done riding the wiener carousel!

No one self-identifies as "involuntary celibate". It's something roasties project onto men who don't put up with women's shit. As if to say "oh, if you had sex you'd agree with me and give in to my demands". This is because women think they can get anything they want with sex and believe this because their white knight lapdog betas would do anything for a pity frick!!!FACT!!!

This. Saw Oppenheimer yesterday and the auditorium was less than 50% occupancy probably. Went and saw Barbie today and it was jam fricking packed. Im sure of it is probably due to the time slots (Oppenheimer started at 5 PM whereas Barbie started at 8) but still.

            Anonymous

It can depend, my favorite theater today had a very packed showing for Oppenheimer but being a much longer movie they had to keep less screens for it. Barbie has screens all day long since the morning.

Why did Mattel let themselves be portrayed like they were in this movie?

Not knowing much about Mattel before watching Barbie I got the feeling they're good sports and can take a joke. If they really want to start a toy movie universe and replace superheroes that could be an asset. They even slipped a Snyder Cut joke for the Warner property side.

Yeah exactly. I mean this is really the chief thrust of the movie: to make Barbies popular with feminists so they could sell more. I mean they very very lightly satirize the Mattel CEO ("how dare you say I care about profits!") but yeah this is about Mattel trying to get more generations of women to buy Barbie for their daughters

58% drop vs Thurs/Fri combined domestic take
40% drop if comparing with just last Fri.
      https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl1077904129/?ref_=bo_hm_rd

It will make a profit if the actual budget + marketing was $295M. if it was slightly higher, but has a strong Sat/Sun this weekend plus doing around 5-10M on week days, it will still make a small profit. Still very far from the coveted $1B.

if it makes $50M profit, that's a 16% return on $300M, which is not bad but "not great". everyone involved already made off with millions like the smart bandits they are.

        Anonymous

What the frick do you mean "small profit"? It will easily rack up 700M before next weekend. Then 800-900M on the following weeks, I'm not sure it will get much higher than 1B but if you discard the possibility you're just crazy or coping.

          Anonymous

it's dropping around 40% each day compared with opening. it has legs but won't clear $700M as you predict. patterns are non-linear. you expect the same momentum to continue after 2nd week. we'll see who is right. i have no skin in the game, there's no way to bet on the actual final number so we're just shitposting here. but i don't think it will be above $700M. so yes, small profit of $50-100M. that's still better than taking a massive loss like disney is taking with haunted mansion and indy5.

why are you so mad? have patience. one of us will be right. and if the word "right" upsets you then yes one of us will be correct. i may be be wrong. but you think in such linear terms. you already assume that the $20M daily will continue, in a linear straight line. when in fact it is curving down, approx 40% drop vs opening week and the drop will continue for 3rd week. you think this will continue making $20M daily during 3rd week? you are the idiot then. again, let's wait and see. you're overly excited that your potential flop is not flopping and will cross break-even this weekend. congrats on not losing money.

homosexual you have to have brain damage to think it won't cross 700mil this weekend. It's at 578mil right now. Saturday and Sunday are still to come while the international for the ending weekend hasn't been added at all.
Think about it. They were expecting 90mil Dom for the weekend. They have 30 of that already so that's another 60mil to come. Now just assume the foreign will be the same for the weekend (it's going to be higher) and then add that up. It's going to be at 730mil at least

I think everything listed there is supposed to be a "woke flop" to disprove the Smug basedjack saying woke stuff is successful. I'm not sure why the image is split up, it would make more sense if the few success woke movies were on the left then the counterexamples were on the right.

It's also kind of stretching what's "woke" too. Most of them make sense but others are kind of headscratchers. DmC was fricking garbage but was it really woke? it came out in like 2013. I don't get how Mad Max was woke either. Shang Chi didn't even bomb also not sure how it was woke. I don't get how Telltale was woke either, they failed because they mass produced low quality shit. Their most successful game was also the one starring the black dude.

          >You actually see woke politically correct culture slowing down? Because I don't, it's getting worse despite some of its movies flopping.
Woke culture is getting stronger because it's reaching the point where it can actually churn out some semi-decent media this time around. People like the open diversity in movies like Spiderverse, and Barbie is still selling well despite people learning about its feminist messaging. And the right isn't really countering it very well either. The fact that Ben Shapiro is the "face" of anti-Barbie sentiment really doesn't do the right any favors.

            Anonymous

Yeah that's my opinion as well, since it's like 90% of culture/media of course some of it will flop, a lot of it will, but it's completely dominating at this point and even the people who hate it consume it because there is almost nothing else.

Quads confirm Shapiro's face could have made a cameo as one of the lowest ranking members in Will Ferrell CEO character's board.

My friend got caught jerking off to it on Saturday and he’s being held without bail because when he ran from the cops he flung semen at them. That’s weird I thought it was a feminist movie but when he called me from jail he said that it was a total jerk off film, and then the line cut. Is there something about this movie they’re not telling us who would never see it?

Warner and Universal will probably have the biggest movies of the year with Barbie and Mario as the only billion dollar movies of the year so maybe a deep revision of this pic would be needed Heck, Universal's Oppenheimer could probably end uo making more box office than franchise sequels from all kinds of studios, superhero movies or not. Food for thought.

It's not the first time a feminist film has been successful: Titanic was even more so and did bigger numbers than any film in history outside of Gone with the Wind (a feminist by '30s standards film). But given recent history it bucks a pattern established by BoP, Fembusters, and post 1st week TLJ Star Wars wherein overtly feminist films absolutely bomb at the box office.

My theory is that positive buzz on Cinemaphile about Gosling + really good marketing as usual by WB + the aging 30+ spinster/beta bux contingent + a big woman marketed property is the reason.

  16. 11 months ago

Nothing short of a full world war or mass lockdowns can stop that from happening now. It's domestic box office is currently ahead of Mario despite that having two extra days and it's been doing better than Maverick daily since Tuesday.

Spider-Verse might not have as much box office as Mario and Barbie but should still be considered a shock to the system. Normies didn't know comics Miles for shit and an animated flick starring him and multiverse Spider-people that weren't in live Marvel movies wasn't going to make a billion dollars. Yet the movie was beloved, won an Oscar, and the sequel is reaping the rewards right now, making a lot more than the previous one. It was big enough at least another movie is coming to complete the trilogy, with twice the Miles Morales.

Joker was also a lefty film though? It was eat the rich and mental health awareness and starred not one but TWO strong black female characters. Almost all modern films are left wing, successful or not. Barbie's only notable for how far much further they took it than usual.

          >people in poverty are suffering debilitating mental illnesses and need more support
          >Arthur's therapist and crush, two of the film's few unambiguously good people, are black women.

Yes, it was despised by left wing media because right wing audiences felt represented by it in spite of the movie's left wing political slant. This exposed the surface level dogmatism of many left wing media outlets as they bashed a movie whose messaging they would've agreed with if they'd taken a closer look.

And look how the left is attacking Sound of Freedom, a movie about child trafficking, calling it right wing conspiracy Qanon propaganda because it stars and was created by white straight men while they supported Cuties because the two producers (both white) hired some black muslim woman to pretend that she made the movie so they could use her as a shield from criticism and it worked as every left winger came running to its defense like the gullible morons that they are!!!FACT!!!

Bringing up Cuties doesn't really work because the left successfully memory-holed it. If Cuties is ever brought up, 99.9% of the time it's a right-winger trying to play gotcha. Progressive spaces almost never mention Cuties, and when they do, they insist that nobody on the left ever defended it ever, which obviously isn't true but you'll never get the left to admit it. But the fact remains that any mention of Cuties has been buried and it actually worked in getting most people to forget about it.

yeah, and her ineffecuality is chalked up to the government not giving a shit about either of them. the point of her character is she represents society's insufficient attempt to pull people back from the brink, there's only do much they can do if all they have is devotion to their clients.
I don't see how you can miss this messaging. Arthur's moms fixation on Thomas Wayne also echoes King of Comedy, celebrity culture, etc. The movie is disgusted by the enormous chasm between the moneyed class and the peasants, when they're all just humans. It's a pretty left wing sentiment.

White women soo desperately want Barbie to be their Joker so they can cultivate victimhood status in the oppression olympics.

The difference is that Arthur was living in poverty and facing hardship due to physical and psychological disabilities inflicted upon him as a child as a result of abuse at the hands of his "Mother" showing that it's women that create people like him and women couldn't stand it because it went against their narrative of "white male privilege" which is why they tried to incite theater shootings and shows just how evil and rotten they are.

Meanwhile Barbie is about a woman who has a first world problem existential crisis because she's now post-wall while it's symbolic that things start going bad in her world as she's now getting older and can't maintain her life of luxury and leisure anymore because she never had any value beyond her looks which are depleting by the second along with her financial status as a result of no longer being able to manipulate simps into supporting her..

The rise of the Ken's is a metaphor for how these women see themselves getting older with their options slowly dwindling and create this fantasy in their minds that they're now being dominated by a patriarchal system of evil white straight men which only suddenly began to control their lives once they started pushing 30 and use it as an excuse as to why they didn't make something of themselves because of their narcissistic sense of self-entitlement where they think because they want something it means that they deserve it.

Tricking the Ken's into fighting each other is also meant to represent women undermining society to their benefit and the detriment of stability because of women's sociopathic need to create drama by inserting themselves into anything men create and/or care about that takes attention away from them and destroying it as they have done in the real world with movies, tv shows, videogames, comicbooks and western civilization in general.

      >Are we really letting a feminist 'men bad' movie reach a billion? What can we even do as men?
The movie's message was "patriarchy bad", not "men bad". Yeah, some of the jabs at men got a little mean-spirited at times, but Ken being treated as an afterthought in Barbieland was very clearly portrayed as a negative thing, and Ken was written to be a sympathetic antagonist who had an understandable motive rather than a one-dimensional villain.

Exactly. If anything Ken was the more human and sympathetic character vs Barbie. He wanted Barbie to feel his mistreatment and neglect.

        Anonymous

        >a sympathetic antagonist
He was absolutely written as an anti-hero, not an antagonist. He barely has any impact on Barbie. Her foil is herself. Ken's foil was himself. The villain was stupid petty bullshit. The movie effectively has two plots with two protagonists. One just gets more screentime.

    Frick this film

    > ‘Hey men you don’t need to do things to impress women! Just do it to be yourself you are enough!
    > ok
    > Embrace masculine pursuits such as physical training, personal development, building/creating things and being a productive human
    > ‘NO NOT LIKE THAT ITS PROBLEMATIC!!!’

Women genuinely don’t understand men at all, the movie attempts to mock masculinity for it’s hyper-competitiveness in sport/business, high standards of physical fitness and even being into culture such as cinema (see cringe scene where ken ‘mansplains’ the godfather to a barbie). This film inadvertently makes women look like angry children who rather than accept they aren’t as good at these things as men would rather attempt to drag them down and rationalise their own obsolescence. Don’t expect women to understand your commitment to your work, interests, fitness or development because for women every single one of these things is superfluous and the only thing that matters is ‘being happy and having a good time’ (ironic considering 99% of women are fricking miserable even when they get what they want)

That's the thing, it's SATIRE. The writers know that men aren't really like that, it's just poking fun at what toys (Kens) would grasp from the "patriarchy".
I mean they are drinking fake beers, Ken is wearing a pimp coat, driving Hummers. Men explaining The Godfather, etc. it's all light satire.

Ken in the real world is a total goof; he can't get a job as a lifeguard, it's a woman doctor, he gets arrested, etc. This is a fantasy "male" world vs fantasy "female" world.

Thing is...Barbie REJECTS this at the end for reality.

That's the point, it's satirizing men AND women.

        Anonymous

        >Ken in the real world is a total goof;
And Barbie in the real world is a total goof; she thinks she "solved feminism" when nobody gives a shit; in fact the teen calls her a FASCIST and makes her cry.

It's "feminist" in a very very light use of the word in that the story focuses on women. But it doesn't offer any solutions or provide any kind of coherent message. It's not anti-men per se. America's husband is a likable (if goofy) character.
It's more that it's satirizing both extreme femininity and masculinity in favor of reality.

        >That's the thing, it's SATIRE.

          >Huh? What is it a satire of?
It's a satire of extreme masculine (Ken world) and feminine (Barbie world) concepts.
Barbie rejects both of these and wants to live in the real world. There is a montage of real women living life, this is what appeals to Barbie at the end. Not Barbie world.

            >It's a satire of extreme masculine (Ken world) and feminine (Barbie world) concepts.

      >say you haven't seen The Godfather
Ken, a passionate movie enjoyer, begins to explain why he loves this piece of art
      >pretend you're bad at a sport
Ken will try to teach you, because he's supportive and wants you to succeed
      >'let' Ken play the guitar at you
Ken is able to play the guitar decently well, and is excited to show off his talents
The Kens just want to be appreciated, and be seen as useful, and knowledgable. The Barbies treat that like it's wrong for some reason. The Kens did nothing wrong

I've completely given up on women as a whole. If someone worthwhile comes along then sure, but the chances of that are just minuscule. They are mostly prostitutes, incredibly brainwashed, career oriented, tattooed and want no children. Not even to mention how many are medicated or do therapy. And the worse thing of all is that they are convinced they are better than men. All through ages of propaganda. It is over. It is completely over.
