Cinema doesn't wow people anymore. MCU was like a tv series they were following along and towards the finale even mediocre shit like Captain Marvel did well but without that "build" individually these movies are crap. People are realising that and Disney not even bothering with the CGI anymore has only made their mediocrity all the more evident.
Now, that's the MCU. The issue with the rest of the slop is that they're following the lighthearted action farce trend that has already been milked dry by Disney.
When you combine this with the fact that there aren't a lot auteurs(aside from Nolan, Cameron and Maybe Villeneuve) who can deliver entertaining mid budget/big budget movies, you now have the current state of Hollywood.
