No, you're not. The wardrobe was one of the best parts of the mini-series. The nobles of this universe own their own planets, so it stands to reason their dress would be over-the-top in ostentatious ornamentation, and they nailed it.

it's pretty impressive how out of the 4 books worth reading children of dune had such a drop in quality and then it went right back up with god emperor, if it wasn't required reading for god emperor most people would skip it

Strangely enough, I re-read the series a couple years ago and found Children of Dune much more interesting than I remembered from the first time. I'm not sure why - maybe I'm just getting old.

really though the lynch dune just destroys everything else. the film was mangled but the imagery was perfect. Frank himself loved it even though Lynch was mad about the entire thing. Best part about this character is that he haunts the Atreides line so severely even after his death, to the point where his genetic ego/memory possesses his granddaughter (Alia) and she becomes fat and tyrannical over time, just like him.
Sorry for any spoilers but I just don’t give a frick.
It’s even more impressive when you consider the Baron’s sheer ego drowned out everyone else in Alia’s subconscious. She had to turn to him for help controlling her own ego, and it backfired spectacularly. His mind was that strong.
