It can take a decade before a new codec is mature enough and has enough hardware support for people to switch. But technology does advance and h264 won't be the go-to forever.

This season has given us 5 minutes of Barry per episode of Barry, slightly more counting the motorcycle chase.
I don't get why Sally is even a character anymore aside from showing that abuse perpetuates abuse. Neat as a mirror to Barry but not worth spending time on considering we only have thirty fricking minutes per episode.

Watching Sally's life and career fall apart is arguably better than anything Barry has going on this season. It's weird, that I watch this show hoping that everyone on it fails and meets horrible ends. Barry, Sally, Gene, everyone. I still enjoy it, though.

Calling it right now. Janice's Dad will be the final Boss for this show. That dude is the real deal. Surviving Nam and making your captor kill himself is some Machiavellian top tier shit. Barry wont be able to escape a dude like that now that he is on his tail.

          imo he's a red herring.

I unironically wish the entire show was like the standalone episode where Barry goes to assassinate that karate dude whilst chasing his spastic daughter around, I don’t care what anyone else says, at the very least that was an entire episode of just Barry

in reality the show's quality and direction has drastically dropped since the first season

              >It would feel pretty cheap for someone that actually seems like a good match for Barry to just die the next episode once again
Not really because Barry hasn't killed anybody who was out to get him and Jim immediately took Fuches to the cops first and was inadvertently clued in to Gene, who gave him the final confirmation that Barry was really the guy, so it's not the same thing. I think Barry will meet Jim and kind of give up and give Jim the opportunity to kill him only for Albert to save Barry by killing Jim.

Right, exactly. I’m just hoping this character is different because all threats have been wiped out almost immediately. It would obviously be tough to string him along too long though because he obviously knows who Barry is and what he’s done

maybe jim starts stalking barry to gather information, then sally asks barry to kill the banshee lady. Jim either uses that to blackmail a confession out of barry before killing him, or gives him to the cops

This show needs to be an hour. I like the Gene stuff, I can tolerate the Sally stuff, I love Hank and Barry, but all at once in a half hour slot is killing the pacing.

If this show was an hour long, we'd end up with a bunch of Breaking Bad-esque scenes to with the minutiae of Barry's work or Sally's writing room antics or Fuches' manipulative stories being stretched out to minutes and minutes to the point where it becomes tiring, and we'd get this shit every episode.

The episode length is fine. I remember years ago Metalocalypse switched from 11 minute episodes to 22 minute episodes and the entire pacing of the show was thrown off; there was way too much empty air.

No no, the guy in the acting class. The cops ended up blaming everything the Chechens and Barry did on him at the end of the season, this in turn likely lead to his father having his reputation ruined prompting him to commit suicide.

That’s the whole point, the doctor was a deeply good person who couldn’t bring himself to do murder even against someone who completely deserved it, the antithesis of Barry whose soul was so eroded that he could kill innocent people without even thinking about it. That’s the irony of the suicide

Sally goes crazy and Barry has to KILL HER

Seems like Sally may go back to Barry to get some revenge. She’s going to do something seriously fricked up next episode it seems

Yeah, right before he pops himself. There was nothing to indicate that beforehand. They should have given him more time to show he was as sad as that, but no, we smash cut to him dead for about 5 seconds as the camera literally rushes away.

                >they didn't give us time with the father of Ryan Madison. He wasn't even sad when he met with Fuches in the professional workplace
It worked itself out fine. I'd believe that someone who is genuinely good at heart would commit suicide so that they could see their kid instead of killing the person who killed them and then going out.
He says it himself, "What's the point?" Unlike Barry, he didn't enact violent vengeance.

                Anonymous

Ironically, Barry didn't kill Ryan, the Chechens did, and Barry killed everyone involved

season 2 was 5 billion years ago and I don't remember it
                >if Sally goes to Barry and takes him up on the suicide-gaslighting he offered
you're right, that would be based

                Anonymous

Being a parent really does fulfill people in a certain way for some people that nothing else. Once he lost that he had revenge but it ended up being hollow. He had the dying guy in the car and realized it didnt make him feel any better. Its way more realistic than the chase last episode.

                Anonymous

To further the irony even more, Barry didn't even kill Ryan, the Chechens did. Moreover, he didn't even cause his death; if he hadn't taken the job, the Chechens would have found someone else to do it.

ill make one in a bit

when the banshe executives tell sally about what the algorithm likes, they mention shows where characters have desserts and at least one scene in central park. so natalie's show is called "just desserts" and is set in central park. natalie didnt really steal anything, she just succeeded by pandering and left sally behind.

          >implying Barry wont die by suicide leaving his story to be stolen and told by Sally the way she got her story stolen by the big nose friend.
wasnt her friends show just a comedy unrelated to joplin? Nothing about it stood out at me as being stolen, unless the show was an idea sally came up with earlier.

when the banshe executives tell sally about what the algorithm likes, they mention shows where characters have desserts and at least one scene in central park. so natalie's show is called "just desserts" and is set in central park. natalie didnt really steal anything, she just succeeded by pandering and left sally behind.

I had to engage my cringe inhibitors for those sally bits. Albert mentioned his disdain for barry before, no idea how he survives unless he goes into a coma for a month and no one knows who he is.

When? He seems to somewhat like and respect him when he talks about him

I recall Albert offhandedly mentioning him getting away for murder when he talked to the detectives.

I must have missed that but I suppose that’s what they were saying when Barry took out Albert getting shot on the wrong person and got discharged.

I don't know what's gonna happen. You got Jim Moss but I think that's mainly setting up the next season, Albert is probably going to get killed by Barry and Barry will think he's home free except Jim is after him and he doesn't know. Last episode is titled "starting now" so Barry will try to start over again but he's fricked forever.

He'd still have rented it in his name. I don't really have a problem with it, the show takes place in a heightened reality where L.A. is teeming with multi ethnic gang warfare and hitmen and you can drop 20 bodies all over the place without getting caught as long as no one sees you actually commit the crime.

the biker he ran over. my guess is they found the guy but are currently in the logo design phase of the investigation. we've seen how incompetent they are this season

Yeah, and with a fricking government worker staring at him the entire time. Frick I dunno why this show did that.

jesus christ this show is literally getting more absurd and just breaking down more by the fricking minute. straight up looney toons pointless bullshit. what the frick is this? did bill hader lose his fricking mind or something? whole fricking season is just pointless garbage. are they gonna pull some sort of jacobs ladder, ed edd and eddy redditspiracy, game theory kinda bullshit where this has all been a near-death hallucination induced by extreme mortal damage to the head because he actually lost the gunfight with moss? is he in some sort of gay schizophrenic purgatory? are they gonna pull that? i don't see how else 1 more episode with the same "several punchy wacky scenes that accomplish nothing but make the characters all progressively more flanderized and crazy looking" thing will cap off the season

I unironically wish the entire show was like the standalone episode where Barry goes to assassinate that karate dude whilst chasing his spastic daughter around, I don’t care what anyone else says, at the very least that was an entire episode of just Barry

I know it already got picked up for season 4, but realistically it has to end after that right?

The detective’s dad might be the end game for Barry. It’s someone that can actually kill him and actually knows Barry is murdering people. What happens to Fuches in the next episode is a big mystery too

Barry falling ass backwards into success in Hollywood is probably the funniest bit they have kept going. If he comes out this season without people knowing who he is i could see this being the plot of season 4.

Yeah, the acting sort of took a backseat for Barry besides that one role that he might have fricked up. Not sure how he gets back into it or if he even will want to

albert knows exactly what's going on and is still going to protect barry. albert was there when barry got his first kill, barry was discharged for avenging albert, the scar on his face he sees every day is a reminder that barry literally killed for him. also chris was a POG.

I haven't given a shit about literally anything that has happened this season.

They made Barry into a loser who is supposed to be some kind of 'toxic male' because that's the only way you can have a white male lead at HBO now I guess? It sucks.

The only scene that was funny was the facetime call between the chechen mobsters, that was the only moment that had the original season 1/season 2 feel to it. the rest seems like shitty fan fiction.

      >what if sally.. REALLY le abuser!
      >what if barry.. DIDN'T kill people!

also adding in tons of new characters and then forcing in screentime so i'm expected to care about them. theres the sally subplot, genes acting class subplot, the detective and investigation subplot, hanks subplot, and barrys plot which are all meant to be fit with in a 30 minute episode (realistically 25 without credits)

Agreed. This season is fricking shit. So many meandering subplots in such a small runtime, and why the frick is every new side character some dysgenic ugly homosexual/lesbian? This show is so fricking bad now kek

Compare Barry’s miraculous recovery and shitty dream sequence to the ones in The Leftovers. I miss real kino that aired on HBO, this show is a dishonest mess.
    >one more fricking episode left in the season and literally nothing has happened

If a housewife who doesn't know shit about poison tries to kill you you would probably survive. What exactly would the average person have to poison someone with? If would need to be pretty deadly so you wouldn't need much poison, and also undetectable by taste or smell so they'll willingly ingest it.

that’s the point we have no idea what she used. Everything this season has been an illogical mess and excused as “dude lmao it’s a dark comedy”
Yes, there was the ron lily episode. Doesn’t mean the entire fricking season has to be nonsense. Even the jokes this season haven’t been grounded at all compared to S1/S2
