        Anonymous

I will never understand the ads paranoia since most added are targeted based on your interest. I seen Cinemaphile lose their mind on a black family playing Mario Party even when Nintendo have 4 more ads selling the same stuff with white families or pure gameplay.

          Anonymous

Okay, so 20% instead of 25%. High variance with just 5 ads, though.

            Anonymous

But the majority of Nintendo ads are gameplay. Anyways it's off topic, your post just reminded me of Cinemaphile losing their mind over a tertiary ad.

They're 12% of the population in the US but they're in like three-quarters of the ads. Hell, they actually went DOWN in total population percentage in the last ten years, as per the 2020 census.

They may be around 12% to 13% in the US but worldwide there is way more blacks than "Caucasians"

        Anonymous

These decisions are made to pander to African diaspora communities and their worshippers, not actual countries where they're the majority/native population. Outside of South Africa, most of those countries don't do any notable business for Hollywood (to the point their results often aren't publicly disclosed) and even that one isn't a major market.

Half of Cinemaphile is industry insiders posting from California. I don't have the numbers for this but remember this fact when the data manifests some day. Probably not many blacks but rather whites being offended on their behalf because that's how west coasters huff their own farts

I think it's out of their hands, really.
In fiction, you choose non-White protagonists because it's the safest choice.

Both screenwriters for this film are White. So we have it clear: in fiction, protagonists are non-White. In reality, the people in charge are White.

      Anonymous

When you have diverse fictional characters and diverse actors/voice actors, it disguises the fact that 90% of the people behind the scenes are white. Nobody cares about the VFX artists skin color because, "LOOK! BLACK PANTHER IS A MOSTLY BLACK CAST!". It doesn't matter if the white VFX artists outnumber the black actors 8-to-1, because all people are SEEING are the black faces.

It's corporate sneakiness to claim they're diverse.

Shrek started the trend. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

They did two Spiderverse movies in a row. Pixar used to switch styles between movies before they lost their touch. Stylizing a movie to fit a movie's story has always been the ideal.

In this case, he is. This character's voice actor is Jaboukie Young-White. What's interesting is that he's gay. Are gays allowed to voice straight characters? He also voiced the lead in Strange World.
