I hate the Kemper obsession. Just because he has a high IQ, people assume he's some sort of deep, complex, tragic figure. He isn't. He was born broken and used his mean mommy as an excuse for raping and mutilating a bunch of girls who had nothing to do with his mother.
His story is actually kinda interesting, though. When you read about him he comes off as tormented moreso than sick. I genuinely think his upbringing messed him up as much as he said it did.
Literally every serial killer has a tragic backstory, some of them significantly more tragic than Kemper's. The only reason people listen to his is because he's articulate and charming.

The most interesting thing about him is his lucidity about what he was and what he did. It might be aped for the camera, but even being able to ape that degree of self-awareness is interesting for a sick frick like him and I think sets him apart from his peers.
the most interesting parts about kempers extensive interviews is that he believes he can help other people out there, who might be going through the same things as him, feeling the same things he felt during his formative years, and kemper can better be studied so those people can find a non violent, non destructive outlet or solution to their issues. whether hes apeing for the camera or not, you get the impression that he still wants some good to come from the ruin and waste that was his life.
