Batman and Superman don't work as "mantle" characters like Flash, Green Lantern, or Captain America.

You an have a guy step in or a bit like Dick or Steel but Batman is Bruce Wayne and Superman is Clark Kent.

40 years ago people said the same thing about Robin.
30 years ago people said the same about Spider-Man.
15 years ago people said the same about Wolverine.

    It's inevitable.

The only Robin people give a frick about is Dick. The only Spidey that sells is Parker. Nobody even knows about Daken or X-23

      And they were right.
Dick Grayson is iconic as Robin and having him continue to be Robin even as he becomes an adult and works independently from Batman is the right call.
If you wanna give Batman a new sidekick, then it should be a new sidekick - with a new identity.

Batman shouldn't have Robins at all, Bruce should be forever alone as a consequence of his lifestyle

Having Dick evolve out of being Robin makes sense though. Nightwing just sucks as a name and IP but the costume works.
I always thought "Wingman" would be a dope grown up alter-ego.

Only if you assume that Robin must be a sidekick.

Laura calling herself wolverine remains Utterly moronic. It's not an inspiring secret identity to take. It's like someone trying to take up Paste-Pot Pete's name.

Not really, Bruce Wayne has been marginalized to such a degree, I don't think he's even interacted as Bruce with an npc since Jezebel Jet was created.
And Clark Kent, as we know, has only existed since 1986
They're not the draw Batman and Superman being awesome is, it's not like Peter Parker Spider-Man where readers would rather the book drop all the Spider-Man action and see Peter drive Aunt May to her doctor's appointment and get a job as a manager at Taco Bell

yeah he's the weakest part of the show bro.
Batman Beyond is the Unforgiven of the Batman mythology. Only people who were little kids at the time thought the show was about the little kid.

What about Batman Beyond? I'm also not very familiar with Superman lore but is there an arc where Superman tries to restore the kryptonian race like there's that shrunken kryptonian city in a bottle. Has he ever tried to restore that and suddenly earth has a small kryptonian population.

I've never considered Terry to actually be Batman. Just a seatwarmer. He's fine enough but not as timeless as Bruce is, and very clearly just a Millenial kid's idea of cool.

    Wrong.
Batman especially is made for mantle passing.

says who? When did Bill Finger, Gardner Fox or Bob Kane say that Batman is a mantle?
      >You're just a fricking baby who hates change.
No I hate babies who necrotize 80 year old products to sell their Donut Steal IP hogging nonsense.
It's all just a gimmick to get rid of Bruce Wayne anyway. Manchildren who want to self insert, that's all it is.

People say this about Green Lantern but it always falls on its face whenever Hal Jordan isn't there.

See, Hal Jordan is a legacy character,
There was a whole other GL before him, Alan Scott, and he sucked. Jay Garrick the most based Flash tho.

There can be multiple green lanterns without it being a 'OMG THIS POWER ORIGIN HAPPENED AGAIN!' thing though (as is the case with the Flash-es and it's really dumb there).
That being said, there are way too many human Green Lanterns. Aliens are more interesting.
