Not sure if you're being disingenuous or just stupid. Either way, you won't be able to point out where this alleged goalpost shifting took place as it never happened. To clarify for any non-morons out there who might be reading this:
Taeshi - Source of meta abuse. Puts Mike through the ringer for her own amusement.
Sandy - A tool used to inflict said abuse, one of several. Is not personally set on hurting Mike; he's just a casualty of her selfish teenage idiocy.
I think she is trying to make it less machiavellian. Maybe she is still 'bad', but at this instance she was indeed trying to be playful rather than being serious/manipulative.
This is what happens when 50% of your personality involves being disingenuous. Even Taeshi should be able to recognize her seething hatred makes the plot predictable. Since she does not want to deviate, the alternative is to lie and misdirect. Hence these over-explainy excuse walls (similar to Sandy's habit, tellingly enough).

Could you imagine the shitstorm that would've erupted in comic if Paulo said he fricked Lucy during Rachel's birthday party? In one of very few examples, the rewrite actually improved on the original comic by turning the alleyway thing into a happenstance encounter. Alejandro had no plan beyond scamming a kid out of 20 bucks at the bar.
It is unfortunate, but Mike would probably agree with that reasoning. Lucy could tell him that he's been the worst thing to ever happen to her and he'd swallow it hook line and sinker.
Paulo has specifically gone for thick women, who're dominant, and older than him. Meaning he's going after a mommy figure! Paulo wants a lady that can fill the void that his mother left behind when she abandoned him!
So this means, when Daisy will have her hormones settle down, Paulo will go after her pussy too? And with a reason this time, instead of the pushed situations we are having
Wrong. Paulo can either get back with Rachel for drama and love, or learn to stop pining and go his own way. He's gone through too many other relationships to get with Daisy, who's core hangup is being overshadowed by Lucy.
He lacks chemistry with anyone other than Rachel. Except maybe Tess or Jasmine, but those fizzled out pretty definitively. Rachel is the only established girl who could be shipped with Paulo without it being a cheap "pair the spares" pity-frick.

Look, i do feel a bit bad for hating on Lucy. I get it that she is supposed to be the kind of character that doesn't take shit from others and stuff, and that she has her own stuff to deal with, but it's just frustrating to see that she almost never regrets anything she does, she almost never seeks redemption, or apologises to the ones she wronged. She's always bossing around, and to top it off, EVERYONE enables that kind of attitude on her.
I dunno man, it just makes it difficult to sympathize with her for too long. The worst part is that this short of behavior is so consolidated on her character that it's difficult to see a 'redemption' of sorts looking genuine. I think it's possible though, but it needs to be adressed at some point,m preferably soon.

Unless Taeshi gets a perspective shift, I figure this will play out in one of two ways. The first is what you've already laid out. The comic screams that Lucy is good and amazing and awesome, that Sandy is stupid and selfish and bad, but there's a ton of nuance here really it swears. In the second case, Sandy is presented as a serious romantic rival to Lucy despite the comic doing nothing to back that up. Both cats are incredibly undesirable yet Mike will feel torn between the two because plot.
In a better comic, Sandy would show up determined to give her A-game. Her motives would be selfish, but she would conduct herself better than Lucy and make her personal appeal more obvious. The girls would act as foils to each other, be compared and contrasted, clash with one another, and get the opportunity to learn from what they see in their rival.
I feel like the outcome will be super disappointing and boring.
Sandy will come, they will have fun going out and doing couple stuff, they will mention their troubles in the past like the whole Francis thing, she will say she is sorry and cry and thank Mike for being so nice to her, Mike will say he was hurt but its ok because she is not there with him, they will kiss, and that will be it.
At most, Lucy or some of the table gang will see them, comment about it to themselves, and walk away.
I don't expect anything exciting from the comic anymore. These last few chapters broke me. Just throw whatever at this point, i'll probably keep reading just out of curiosity anyway.

Unless Taeshi gets a perspective shift, I figure this will play out in one of two ways. The first is what you've already laid out. The comic screams that Lucy is good and amazing and awesome, that Sandy is stupid and selfish and bad, but there's a ton of nuance here really it swears. In the second case, Sandy is presented as a serious romantic rival to Lucy despite the comic doing nothing to back that up. Both cats are incredibly undesirable yet Mike will feel torn between the two because plot.
In a better comic, Sandy would show up determined to give her A-game. Her motives would be selfish, but she would conduct herself better than Lucy and make her personal appeal more obvious. The girls would act as foils to each other, be compared and contrasted, clash with one another, and get the opportunity to learn from what they see in their rival.

Sandy will come, they will have fun going out and doing couple stuff, they will mention their troubles in the past like the whole Francis thing, she will say she is sorry and cry and thank Mike for being so nice to her, Mike will say he was hurt but its ok because she is not there with him, they will kiss, and that will be it.
At most, Lucy or some of the table gang will see them, comment about it to themselves, and walk away.
I don't expect anything exciting from the comic anymore. These last few chapters broke me. Just throw whatever at this point, i'll probably keep reading just out of curiosity anyway.
