Her brattiness is just her way to get Mike to pay attention to her. She wants to be tamed.

Taeshi always fumbles the frick out of moral quandaries. I think it's a combo of wanting to write complex morally grey characters, but not having an understanding of the role perspective plays in a story. Plus having a poorly-thought out sense of morality herself.
It really does boil down to having an awful personality, a defective sense of right or wrong, and no clue how functional relationships work outside of what anime and her insane followers have told her. I don't disagree, but I think more than personal disfunction is a failure to understand the role of perspective and framing in a story.
The narrative context of events in a story informs their interpretation. What events a story shows or focuses on and how matters more than anything else for how the audience will react. Objectively evil characters can come across as charming, sympathetic, or compelling if they're given a favorable focus and framing. And characters who's worst sin is being kind of dumb can come across as rage inducing if the writer fumbles them badly.
Tae doesn't seem to understand that the audience doesn't share the perspective of the writer, nor how to frame things in order to give the impression she wants to create.
I wonder if Taeshi unconsciously relies too much on Bag Boy's post-processing bullshit to spruce up the comic, and knowing she can't do that here motivates her to call upon old basic art lessons she's otherwise forgotten.

I know it's wrong to think about, but a Mike x Haley story has immense narrative potential.
Starting out when Haley simply wants to help her brother, when he's feeling down due to his girl troubles. But it gets a bit to sensual, and they quickly stop themselves. But as time goes on they think about that night, and eventually give into their lust.
Then the trials begin of hiding their illicit bond. With Haley having to stop herself from talking about Mike to much, while he has to juggle his feelings for her along with Sandy and Lucy. Having fun when their parents are out for the night, etc.

Theorizing is pointless, that much is abundantly clear. The story will always disappoint so long as you actually expect positive outcomes. But it's fun to imagine how the plot would go were someone remotely sane and functional at the helm.
Have her brattiness mean something. Like have it be a cry for attention, or show that she has a underlying gripe or problem that Mike can help her with.

A lot of people get pissed the hell off and don't want to talk to the lying harlot who casually dumped them, or go for a walk to cool off, or mute their phone and cry themselves to sleep. Sandy jumped to the most dramatic and egotistical conclusion, which indicates she either feels pretty darn important or sees Mike as desperate little cuck who just cannot live without her.
Sandy ghosted Mike for months and he did nothing but hope she'd finally return his calls. Mike didn't leave sobbing voice messages or long needy text speeches. If anything he showed a lot more resilience than Sandy, who ran back to Mike the moment Francis didn't work out.
Exactly, the feeling i get from this is that she thinks she has to babysit Mike or he'll do an oopsie and then she'll feel responsible for it. She cheated on him fer Christ sake, it's obvious he'd just be pissed and wouldn't want to talk, like said.
What pisses me the most is mike falling to her bait, asking her whats wrong and showing concern and all. I mean, she might feel somewhat guilty, but he should see it as just a manipulation tool.

I don't think Taeshi has thought that hard about it, even if she's using Sandy as a Goldie stand in. I just know that if my partner did something I could forgive, but followed up with this, i'd break up because of being viewed that way.
Sandy is a pretty accurate representation of Taeshi's own two-faced nature, projected onto Goldie, so I assume Sandy "worrying" about Mike somehow ties into the annoyance/denial Taeshi feels toward herself and Lucy when it comes to their massive co-dependence problem.
Sue literally has the exact same problem Daisy has, feeling inadequate from a lack of mail attention. But she reacts to it differently by trying to put herself above petty relationship drama.

It's because the past chapters didn't really have anything worth talking about that much. The worst part about it was how it cut to a chunk of it being about Paulo and Daisy being bisexual but other than that and maybe the track team, there was nothing worth discussing that much.
Well ya didn't lose much. It was just Mike being invited to the track club by a cheerful dude, while at the same time feeling a bit of regret and unease of being together with sandy, paulo and daisy talking and saying how they sometimes feel attracted to people of their own gender, and now this chapter, that is supposed to give some more insight on how and why mike and sandy got together.
All in all, the story is moving slowly, though God knows where it is going.
On one hand post-retcon Lucy's pathetically submissive and clearly enjoys the sexual harassment and attention she gets from Paulo so she'd actually enjoy being Alej's fricktoy
On the other hand I actually really liked volume 1 Lucy and seeing her end up like that would be sad, good end she goes back to vol 1 Lucy and gets with Mike
We haven't gotten to see much of her since eternal flame but I think Mike smooching her and immediately going back to Sandy is the end of Lucy's girl boss phase. We'll be back to shipping her with non abusive partners eventually.
And Lucy tore out Paulo's heart before sauntering off in maximum girlboss mode, after which Paulo blamed himself for upsetting her. I'd love for Taeshi to have gotten this girlboss shit out of her system but the woman's just too impulsive and immature.
It would be a massive improvement, but the truly optimal scenario is a Volume 1 Lucy who retains her later character growth, paired with a sweeter version of Volumes 2-3 Mike.
I wonder if Taeshi thinks readers should be pro Mike x Lucy these days, or just less anti-Mike. That's her endgame ship, after all, so it stands to reason Taeshi would not let things get this bad unless she massively underestimates how unlikable the pairing has become. Like, how is this even a tragedy now? It's just stupid.

It would be cute, or at least interesting, to see Daisy try to help drag Mike out of his depression. Plus there's easy melodrama in Daisy's quiet jealousy of Lucy and Sandy, and Mike could worry that Daisy will lose interest in him once the honeymoon period is over.
I like the idea an anon posted a few threads ago of Daisy learning about Paulo's ongoing simpery and getting with Mike to make Paulo and Lucy jealous, then it developing into a real relationship as Mike gets happier and Daisy forgets her ulterior motives.
Then right when things are looking good, Daisy moves too fast and pushes Mike into sex to assuage her own nervousness about being "third pick", and Mike learns she started pursuing him again to make Paulo and Lucy jealous.
Mike and Daisy then have to decide if they like each other enough to get back together, or if their relationship was just a fling that helped them get over some issues. Yes, I'm aware that posting what amounts to MikeXDaisy fanfiction is cringe.

Taeshi always fumbles the frick out of moral quandaries. I think it's a combo of wanting to write complex morally grey characters, but not having an understanding of the role perspective plays in a story. Plus having a poorly-thought out sense of morality herself.
It really does boil down to having an awful personality, a defective sense of right or wrong, and no clue how functional relationships work outside of what anime and her insane followers have told her. Like how the frick is Taeshi supposed to justify these crazy-ass perspectives she's cultivated for decades inside a hyper-curated social bubble? If her fantasy cope was a lifeboat, then basic human experience would be the rocky shore smashing it to splinters.
I don't disagree, but I think more than personal disfunction is a failure to understand the role of perspective and framing in a story.
The narrative context of events in a story informs their interpretation. What events a story shows or focuses on and how matters more than anything else for how the audience will react. Objectively evil characters can come across as charming, sympathetic, or compelling if they're given a favorable focus and framing. And characters who's worst sin is being kind of dumb can come across as rage inducing if the writer fumbles them badly.
Tae doesn't seem to understand that the audience doesn't share the perspective of the writer, nor how to frame things in order to give the impression she wants to create.

Then the trials begin of hiding their illicit bond. With Haley having to stop herself from talking about Mike to much, while he has to juggle his feelings for her along with Sandy and Lucy. Having fun when their parents are out for the night, etc.

Well to be fair, some people actually do take it that badly when you break up with them. Especially if they just hang up without a word or something.
A lot of people get pissed the hell off and don't want to talk to the lying harlot who casually dumped them, or go for a walk to cool off, or mute their phone and cry themselves to sleep. Sandy jumped to the most dramatic and egotistical conclusion, which indicates she either feels pretty darn important or sees Mike as desperate little cuck who just cannot live without her.
To be fair Mike never gave her the impression to think anything else.

It was just Mike being invited to the track club by a cheerful dude, while at the same time feeling a bit of regret and unease of being together with sandy, paulo and daisy talking and saying how they sometimes feel attracted to people of their own gender, and now this chapter, that is supposed to give some more insight on how and why mike and sandy got together.
All in all, the story is moving slowly, though God knows where it is going.

I like the idea an anon posted a few threads ago of Daisy learning about Paulo's ongoing simpery and getting with Mike to make Paulo and Lucy jealous, then it developing into a real relationship as Mike gets happier and Daisy forgets her ulterior motives.
Then right when things are looking good, Daisy moves too fast and pushes Mike into sex to assuage her own nervousness about being "third pick", and Mike learns she started pursuing him again to make Paulo and Lucy jealous.
Mike and Daisy then have to decide if they like each other enough to get back together, or if their relationship was just a fling that helped them get over some issues.
