I had a job where the dress code was business “casual”, but everyone dressed up a bit more. Some days. I would wear a full suit, just to see if I still got it, and sure enough, like magic, people would hold the door for me, chat me up more in public, chicks would flirt more and ask for my number, smile at me, etc, customer service was better, people were generally nicer to me.
All I did was put on a $30 jacket that fit me and wear a $5 tie.
Same thing happend to me, When I was working in Japan I got a bit used to the suit style and brought it home for a while, and people just respect you a lot more, random people you meet anywhere.
