It's like a cartoon made for every woman I've ever loved, it's unabashedly a show for womanchildren. There's not necessarily anything wrong with that, I just wish there was more substance. It's all frosting with no cake, some people might like that but for me it's too saccrine. I'm probably just missing the point because you're probably just supposed to soak in the non-threatening atmosphere and appreciate the surreal imagery.

      This

Although I’m on the other side of the coin because I enjoyed it for exactly the reasons you said. I’ll watch basically anything with really good visuals and the show with its chill atmosphere and sorta funny writing worked for me.

It's comfy and isn't really trying to be anything more. It is absolutely about the atmosphere of it more than getting invested in the plot or anything.

      >non-threatening atmosphere

      >non-threathening athmosphere

even passive interactions make you feel like the people would throw you under a bus if it was convenient.

I feel the show is ok by itself, but it was not what was promised by the pilot.
And while a creator has the right to do whatever they see better for the show, the fact that this project got kickstarted and they didn't deliver the product promised makes it a bad product.

I still cannot fricking believe they actually cut this line. It was the most quotable line and they stretched the episode to over twice its original length.

They made everything twice as long with none of the charm of the original.

No, I remember Toast was there before. Not in the pilot, but in that first season of shorts.

Is quite easy to replace Candy for fandom and they probably didn't want to get mocked even more

Meanders through it's bad jokes at a pace that is wholly unappealing. Cute designs though.

It's good to screenshot for avatars and wallpapers. The writing is appallingly boring. Characters don't develop, the jokes aren't funny, nothing happens, and a majority of the time it's just annoying to watch.

      >Also the voice acting is weird
I think they were trying to make it feel like a dub or something. Like a show that was translated from English into Japanese back into English.

The Netflix episodes were literally created in Japan and Natasha Allegri lived there to oversee the animation. If you watch it in Japanese language with subtitles it honestly flows exactly like an anime, albeit taking away some of the goofy charm of the English VA work, which is supposed to sound realistic and mumbly.

And it still turned badly because even animes are at their breaking point and this chibi meme show didn't save it

I'm not disliking it but it feels like the DMT trip of a dying tumblr girl. It's not bad but it's very... Unoriginally weird, like it's trying to be odd but everything it does feels worn out.

I liked it enough for what it is, especially with the much improved animation/art direction. Netflix seems to be on something of a roll lately with their animated stuff.

Bee and Puppycat was surreal without ever being either unsettling or particularly comedic. That plus the fuzzy dialogue, the slow but irregular pace, the sometimes dissonant soundtrack, and the very hands-off approach to explaining any of the lore or background plot gave it this weirdly off-kilter vibe that I don't think I've experienced from anything else. It reminded me of my thought processes during that time you spend half asleep between the alarm and the snooze timer. I assume that was intentional, so while it wasn't cartoon of the year it gets a thumbs up from me for doing something different and accomplishing it well.
