You should probably add that there'd be an assumption that they'd be written well because most anons won't want them to come back due to how the show has been written.

anon what exactly would you have jacques do?
besides he did make another non-speaking appearance

it's morally reprehensible to keep watching once they started firing people for being white.

        >once they started firing people for being white.
who got fired for being white?
if only thing, the white guy kept his same pay, has less responsibility, and an another person got a job. this removing white actors from non-white roles is creating jobs and a real benefit.

Jacques had a small voiced appearance in the episode about no stealing cable. Makes me wonder if the writers planned to use him more often. When was the last time they used Bart's original two friends, Richard and Lewis?

      Anonymous

Jacques was in the Simpsons intro used between seasons 2 - 20 when Bart skateboards by other springfield residents. yeah its safe to say they probably intended for him to show up more often.

Lewis has been getting more screentime because Disney needed a token black for Bart episodes, Richard is still just a background character.

Aside from the cameo in the show, he was supposedly originally set as the antagonist for The Simpsons Movie. It was decent so I think he might've been good in that as well.

This one is actually interesting because she is the daughter of pretty prominent side characters but she’s never appeared after that one episode just because she’s voiced by a celebrity. Why didn’t they just bring her back with a different, cheaper actor the way they did for Evil Santa on Futurama?

They'll be doing the same thing with Julie Kavner, and then Dan Castellaneta, and so on, and so forth.

The Simpsons will go on, with or without actual human involvement. Nothing short of a nuclear holocaust, and not even THAT, could stop it. Have no fear, stories for centuries.

Princess Kashmir from season one. I'd like to see Lisa in one of her "thrown into the grown up's world" moments, working at the Mud City strip joint, because there are no weekend jobs any where else. She'd get thrown around, splashed on, used as a pool toy, and other sorts of physical comedy. PK would then help her out, show her what to do, and then status quoing, Lisa would do something Women's Rights and get the place closed down. It's meant to be a comedy take on the "We're willing to hire people below the age level, but we're not willing to pay you a minimum wage. So we'll replace you with new hires who think that they only need to work for enough money for a new X Box."
Plus, Lisa gets to suffer for being stupid about vegan-suffrage-rights.

Millhouse uses AI to resurrect Bleeding Gums Murphy's career to make himself rich in California. Lisa is the only one who knows enough to call him out on it.
At the end, Bart faces a moral choice "Ethics? Ahk, it stings! Get it off me!" to or to not upload Edna Krabappal's personal information folder into the ai. He doesn't. Maggie uploads the much larger El Barto/Bart's disciplinary folder instead and gets California destroyed by robot uprising.

The problem is that for them to work, you'd have to introduce conflict.
And I can't think of a creative direction to go with that. Key word "creative".

I really liked how she was handled in the only episode she ever appeared in and think she could have gotten a bigger spot in the story
She is like patty and Selma but instead of being mean she doesn't give a shit
It also would have given us one extra family member and a character to interact with Marge
Krustys dad had more screen time than her

This guy from the pawn shop.
Perfect mixture of creepy and cordial in just 30 seconds. So much potential, completely under utilized

Herman Hermann is good evidence of what they could have done with him, and it would have been easy for them to go a different direction with him.

I unironically support the RealJims idea that Herman should be a rare antagonist who isn't funny, just very unsettling and a deranged straight-man to everyone surrounding him.

Herman seemed like he actually cares about his community in his first appearance. For as unhinged as he was, he was surprisingly good with kids. That never carried forward

        Anonymous

I like the idea of Herman Hermann more as an antihero type. Not a villain, not a hero, kind of a nuisance that was done wrong by the government.
        Dale Gribble, if you will.

To that extent, I think Pawn Shop Guy would have fit the role better as a pile of scum. He would have made for a good shyster.

        Anonymous

Confirming how his arm came off was extremely stupid. Herman was interesting because we don't see much of him outside of direct business transactions (legitimate or otherwise.) He's unsettling and standoffish and it's clear that even if you tried to unravel him you'd find something way too dark for the tone of the Simpsons, and that made him unique among the cast of Springfield.

The last time I remember him being even remotely relevant was in episode where there was a Springfield survivalist club.

Now I'm not saying bring Troy back, and I don't even watch the current seasons because there is very little of value outside seasons 2-8.
But if you were going to write the show in the style of those golden years, an equivalent to Troy would be a washed up actor from the 2000s. Who could you parody from that era and make good comedy?
