Connery is the best James Bond, Brosnan starred in the best Bond movie

Pierce gave 100% percent in all of his movies while Connery got bored by the end of Goldfinger with playing the character and I can't enjoy a movie where the lead actor is being a prick and thinking the movies are beneath him plus my image of James Bond is a tall, handsome guy with black hair and blue eyes. Connery looks too much like any old family member of mine.

Dalton and Brosnan > everyone else. I'm a stickler for a Bond having blue eyes, to be honest. It exemplifies his European heritage and otherworldly charisma better. Brown eyes just don't cut it.

I recently started watching the bond movies. Ive seen the first 3. From Russia With Love>Goldfinger>Dr. No. Genuinely can't see anyone else as bond other than Connery. He's so fricking cool it's kind of insane.

Connery was and is the best Bond. He was the only one who actually played Bond during the time the novels were set, and he's the only who who exuded the chad nature of the character.

"Serious" Bond is shit. When you grow out of hating silly things, you realize camp Bond was always the best.

I remember finding the old Bond movies insufferable as a teenager and loving the Craig movies but, my god, was I wrong. The Craig movies are insufferable and worthless garbage while those movies are great pieces of entertainment with no insincereness or pretentiousness. You're on the money when you say as you get older, the grimdark Craig nonsense is just embarassing to watch.

not him but i remember something about them making 007 more serious because of austin powers and other parody stuff.
but it just ended up being generic and forgettable with craig movies in my opinion.

Which is idiotic since Austin Powers wasn't making fun or condemning Bond but was a celebration of the character but EON, having lost all perspective, thought those movies showed that audiences were sick of the classic character when it was EXACTLY the opposite as Die Another Day came out after the last Austin Powers movie and was the highest grossing Bond movie of all time thus proving people absolutely weren't sick of the classic Bond character.

The REAL reason they rebooted, all other excuses are lies, is that Barbara just wanted to cast Daniel Craig who was a nobody actor with an inflated view of himself who wanted to subvert and ruin the character with free reign by Barbara who was in love with him. There is no other explanation for the downfall of Bond. The Austin Powers/Batman Begins/Jason Bourne shit is just that: shit. Barbara wanted Craig to marry her and giving him Bond was an ultimatum. He didn't give in but she still persisted. Look up how Barbara treats her boyfriends. She's way too clingy and obsessed. She once gifted a guy authentic Picassos out of nowhere.

Brosnan also wanted more money for a 5th film. They figured they could get a new actor and reboot the continuity. The mistake they made was casting a blonde, manlet, nearly 40 year old Putin motherfricker.

Moore looked more (lol) at home as Bond even by 1985.

This. Brosnan was the best but rebooting wasn't a problem as long as they got a good actor. Instead of Colin Farrell or Clive Owen, we got Vladimir Putin. The last 20 years of Bond have been a blur I'd want to forget. I hope ATJ is a good Bond.

Yes, even fricking Colin Farrell in 2005 would've been a better James Bond than the Putin rape baby they cast. He was like a young, Irish Connery at the time and it would've been interesting. Of course, I wanted only Clive Owen who would've been perfect with Eva Green as Vesper. Another pet peeve of mine is Mads. Great actor but sorely miscast. Phillip Seymour Hoffman in MI3 was the actual Le Chiffre from the books, not whoever Mads was supposed to be. Recast Bond and Le Chiffre and Casino Royale is a 10/10.

I never liked Moonraker, and I don't think I ever will, but a lot of Moore's ones are straight out better than anything in the Craig era.

The opening scene to Tomorrow Never Dies proves he's the best Bond. His otherworldly competence and heroic aura was something no other Bond had but he also had the most cold-blooded lines in all of Bond:
    >No, for me.
    >I never miss.
Brosnan is what I think of when I think of James Bond 007. No one else.

    >Best Bond
Check. Christopher Lee, the man Bond was based off of and Ian Fleming's cousin, said as much.
    >Best Movie
GoldenEye, no question. It's the movie to show to anyone to get them to be a Bond fan.
    >Best Villain
Alec is both maniacal and fantastical but also has a great rivalry/relationship with Bond
    >Best Bond Girl
Elektra King. Her and Pierce's chemistry was off the charts and her being a dark inverse of Bond's dead wife was genius.
    >Best Song
Surrender by K.D Lang. No question.

James Bond was never supposed to be a realistic depiction of a spy because that'd be boring and nobody would care. Bond is just a 50's pulp action hero, much like Doc Savage and others. Ian Fleming had no interest in real spy craft, he wanted to make spectacular fantasies and that's why the character is so popular 70 years later. He exemplifies what every man on earth would love to be. Him being a "spy" is way besides the point. Plus, he's not a regular spy. He's a 00 agent with a licence to kill which means he's a super spy assassin who only has field missions, not intelligence work.

I understand, I'm saying that there are way cooler action hero spy-themed shows now only loosely inspired by the aesthetic of Bond. The Incredibles, Spy X Family, Kim possible even have more interesting spy plots going on

From Russia With Love or Dr No are good spy movies. But Bond also isn't a spy so much as he is a ex-commando and current MI6 assassin or wetworks operative. You'd think him closer to CIA's special operations than the usual spies and station chiefs working under official cover in various embassies. He's meant to get in close with the minimal work that needs to be done to do it, seducing or sneaking or whatever as need be, and kill anybody he needs to kill in the process. A deniable asset, if he dies then the British government has never heard of him and they just send another 00 to finish the job.

Millenials who grew up with Brosnan are nostalgic sentimental cringelords.
Brosnan is fine, his movies are terrible (sans GoldenEye).
