I really do hope Bruce and Sam just keep handing off the franchise to a new director every few years and seeing how they do it. I enjoyed this and 2013 Evil Dead a ton.
Doctor Sleep is not a good horror movie. I think it's debatable if it's good at all (some of the reasons are just personal aesthetic tastes. Us is legit 1/10 to me. It's one of those films where because it doesn't click for me, the horror crosses over in to ridiculous, unintentional comedy. The Lighthouse is interesting, but good is a stretch (I don't like Eggers really).
The Night House was okay, but felt like a soft pitch for Hellraiser.
Still haven't seen Pale Blue Eye. I would say EDR is as okay as anything on that list. I wouldn't be able to differentiate between them quality wise
I haven't watched a horror movie yet this year, doesn't seem like there's much out that's any good. Any good ones with monsters or scary stuff in them? Can any anon recommmend?
I was engaged in the movie until the last act, when it became a generic monster movie. The fused together corpse creature "final boss" in particular was stupid, more comical than creepy.
Would have been great if it wasn't so fucking dark. Sometimes you couldn't see shit at all.
Why set the movie in a windowless building during a power outage?
Lighting has been a big issue in a lot of movies this pas decade. Horror movies have suffered the most from this. It's not like they couldn't use light, the opening scene was in broad daylight. But going from this to almost total darkness at times was a bad idea in my book (of the dead).
Aside from that, the movie was really, really good.
Cinematography seems to have fallen off a cliff the past decade. Robert Richardson talked about it a bit. But then you look at his new movie (Equalizer 3) and it has the same issues
I was gonna say fuck off, but looking up movies I'd say are way better and they're all seven years or older.

I watch Doctor Sleep for Rebecca Ferguson. My heart beats faster when I watch it but it's not because I'm scared
She was extremely hot in that. Must have been the hat.
Must have been
>Doctor Sleep
Stopped reading there. Embarrassing.
DA RIGHTHOUSE? RIGHT HOUSE FO DERIVERY ORDA?
I thought The Pale Blue Eye was a thriller. Is it a good Halloween watch?
Its a boring, forgettable movie. The only standout thing about it is the guy who plays young Edgar Allan Poe.
It's not a horror movie and no it's not good for a Halloween watch.
lol nope.
Nope was good too.

the night house is severely underrated , the audio on it was perfect
her newer movie resurrection was pretty creepy too, but not that great
This was ass, man. I enjoyed Barbarian and Smile a lot more.
Smile was stupid.
I forgot Barbarian. I liked that more than EDR too

Absolute fucking trash. Took me about four sittings to finish it. Boring as shit.
Evil Dead was NEVER good.
what are some good horror films then anon?
Was Cobweb.

Was gonna lol at you but damn the last 5 years have been rough. I would (successfully) argue that Deadstream was better.
Also I have to preface before the autistic guy jumps in - I officially deem both movies horror and not comedies
That's kind of sad if this is the best one of the last 5 years. It doesn't even live up to the Evil Dead remake, let alone the original film.
OPs movie was amazing
Loved every minute of it
based.
Yeah I liked it. The Hellraiser reboot was also surprisingly decent.
I like Bodies Bodies Bodies too, but I'm not sure it counts.

People who have big problems with their heads may like this kind of movie. Fucking psychos, in other words.
